sunday my brother-in-law, loyd gardiner, died.
he was an elder in the richmond, indiana congregation for about 50 years.. my son and i are having real problems deciding what to do.
we had decided not to go to the services because almost everyone there will be jws and we do not see the need to expose ourselves to the rude treatment by them.. i got a phone message last night from someone, not baptized jw, who thought we should go to the viewing today, to show "our respects".
Have to agree - alot of people will be given the knowledge of what "true" christianity is all about.
Personally I feel anytime we "shunned" ex-JW's do something that takes this must strength & courage, we show people how "unworldly" the world is, and how wrong they are.
This doesn't make it easier of course - good luck Borg!
in my xmas tree post i got sidetracked with the joke gift story and forgot one crucial point.. what christmas means to me.. i didn't really get into christmas immediately after i got fired from the wts.
it wasn't until several years later that i was befriended by the family of a coworker at midas.
his kids and i just took to each other.

the "pit" is going, the suds are flowing, and the sound from the tv permeates the air.
i look over and i notice that i've carelessly left my laptop in a place where it's easily accessible.
Have to agree with Tweetie Bird - its extremely difficult when one first leaves, and its probably "best" to let them find all their information to an extent on their own. So many levels emotionally & mentally when untangling from this sect, and I would surmise that most would still hold "a slight grudge" towards the ones who showed them the "light" (at least for a time). Its a hard thing to let go of - deep founded beliefs.
well last week i got my first real shun.
most the time it would be people i know, they would just look away or pretend i wasn't there, you know not really a person anymore.
last week it happen, this time with someone who was one of my best friends.
That must of really hurt newboy - I'm sorry you have to go through it too (sigh).
Mine story isn't as bad as yours - its just pretty sad. One of my best friends & I were in a couple of classes together, so of course we sat together. The day after my df'ing announcement (of which I went to) we both went to school and sat where we normally did. We took one look at each other and started bawling our eyes out, without saying a word. Teachers just did not know what to do with us that day.

gawd parents of these children feel so very alone and we often are.. i am constantly in a battle with our small town school and we have made some great changes for future situations but it has cost me dearly.
inability to keep the same job due to the constant battles and needs for my son.
Tera - exactly what difficulties are you having with your ISD? Are you having problems with them implementing your IEP, or in getting the appropriate IEP itself? Does your son have an individual aide to help him throughout the day?
Have you heard of Cause (Citizens Alliance to Uphold Special Education) or the ARC? These are 2 groups that can help guide you through some of the nuances of getting your school district to listen to you.
If there is anything I can help you with, please feel free to email me. I am a Parent Advocate here in Michigan, but I don't know what state you are in, are what laws you are having difficulty in having the ISD enforce.

Thanks BG for the reply. I am not/nor could not post here regarding Snoozy/Dragon. Nor am I "attacking" Dragon, except to point out why certain posts were made.

The only reason I am in this thread is because of this comment. If she had meant 1 person, then she should have said so, but she didn't - she said "a few". Therefore I am questioning her as to what and who she meant. Up until then, I was content to keep my mouth shut.
I don't want my comments to be taken "anti-Dragon", nor "pro-Snoozy" as I don't know enough of the situation to make a judgement call - and I don't want to. We all must take ones as we find them, the good, the bad & the ugly. Sometimes people are seemingly cruel, and for no good reason. But that can be said of everyone (perhaps sadly even myself).
But, the core of these threads were not about Snoozy & Dragon, regardless of what they degenerated into. They were about Silent Lambs, an organization he ridiculed with a vengence. Therefore, Plum's comments made no sense. And I am simply asking her for clarification - which private e-mail would handle just fine (duh!!! why didn't I think of that before).

I am not Snoozy, nor do I understand her & Dragon's arguments. This is not what these threads were initially about. These threads were initially regarding Silent Lambs, a group which Dragon constantly degraded on this board to the point of mocking abused victims (me).
My posts were contained to debating Silent Lambs with Dragon, and nothing else. This is why I am still at a loss to Plum's comments above. Even Dragon's can be human & imperfect, so I hold Dragon no ill will. I just think he went way overboard in some of his hurtful comments as well, and some of those comments to Snoozy (i.e. mocking her husbands terminal illness) are just as cruel as anything he accused her of doing. I didn't read the initial threads from where the Snoozy/DRagon thing originated, so therefore could not /nor did not take sides on this issue. But from everything I did read, Dragon gave as good as he got, and then some.
