  Euthanasia

  first of all, i don't really have an opinion on euthanasia one way or the other.

  but since my mother has a terminal illness, i've been thinking more about it.

  not for her, but for myself when the time comes.

  We put animals to sleep out of 'mercy'. Do human beings deserve any less? I think not.

  My thoughts exactly! We put our animals to sleep so they won't suffer, but we allow humans to suffer needlessly, especially for those who have no opportunity any longer for a "miracle" cure. We'll allow them to waste themselves away by starvation or dehydration, but how dare we just allow them to go peacefully to sleep, after having spent their last coherent moments with loved ones.??!

  There does seem to be some stigmitism as to the "moral" righteousness for euthenasia. For some reason, the words of "leaving it to God" comes out usually with those that don't believe it should exist. They seem to see it as a form of suicide. I don't believe this is what God meant.

  carl kunde dies at silverdome

  my old partner daryl kunde's father died at the silverdome assembly last week.

  it seem's kind of ironic but about 11 years ago when i was still going to the assemblys, we were at the silver dome and 8 old people collapsed from the heat.

  [there is not air in the dome] this made me mad and i vented to daryl the monday after the assembly.

  Sick of it

  i am not a jw, i am 100% free to choose born and raised.

  well let me get to my story, i have no problem with jw, my wife who i love with all my heart is though.

  she was raised in it and didnt have much choice due to a dominating mother in the truth, and at 16 got baptized by pressure, we have 3 young children who attend meetings but i made it very clear that they will choose there own way, i dont worry because she is a believer but still has her own mind.

  Supreme Court Ruling Thursday on Grounds of Privacy

  thursday, the supreme court overturned the ruling in the 1986 georgia case bowers v hardwick.

  in essence the court said that anti-sodomy laws are unconstitutional as they invade the citizen's right to sexual privacy.

  how will the wt react?

  Separation of Church & State dictates that this law really has nothing to do with the JW's. I mean, a personal can be disfellowshipped for gambling, smoking, fornication, adultery, causing disension, etc. etc., but none of these actions are "illegal" (for the most part). Once you've made your dedication through baptism to that organization, you are bound by their laws. Churches laws generally have much higher "moral" grounds, and I haven't heard of to many cases where someone was able to sue the WBTS for violating their civil rights. They make an individual choice to be part of this organization.

  well, i can't say i didn't see this coming, but the reality has hit me.

  my father has put me in a difficult position.

  first of all, i need to give you guys some background on the situation.. back when i was 20 years old, i had a girlfriend.

  Well, I agree with everyone here that you should consider moving.....if your father really wanted to give you that money, he'd do it regardless of when you get married (it would be a wonderful gift at any time).

  But, at the same time, you are an adult. You don't have to "buy into" his games. When he makes these types of bribes - thanks but no thanks works wonderfully. Just ignoring his games is really the hardest, but the best practice. Show him his typical manipulations won't work, and after a period of acceleration, he'll have to find another route to feel like he has a relationship with you. Because, sick or not, all of these actions sound like a father that #1 - doesn't like not having control & #2 - a father that is desparately trying to hold onto his son, and perhaps a relationship that he thinks will disappear once you're out from under his roof.

  i have a question for you - what do you do when you catch a "friend" in a lie.

  i have a friend who i haven't known for a long time....and so far i have "caught" this person in 2 lies (no one on this board, or any board for that matter).

  Random - nope - not in my nature! Nice to see you around these parts btw - I've been wondering where you got off to!

  Nosferatu - wow, that seems kind of harsh! But, you make a good point - true friends I would believe shouldn't have to feel that they have to lie.

  Golden Girl - you had one very interesting life you know that?? You should write a book. I lived with my brother for about 5 years - he was a pathological liar too. But, I just learned to ignore everything he had to say. Due to circumstances, I couldn't just move out - but I did delete him from the list of people I entrusted with "myself". I don't know what you do when it's one of your kids!

  Scully - EXACTLY! Even though I might want to continue a relationship, in many ways I'll never be able to feel the same way again. Trust is HUGE with me, and if I've gone the distance of actually trusting a human being, alot is taken when that is lost.

  Thanks everyone for the reply. In the last 3 weeks since I posted this, I have distanced myself from the situation, and I feel much better. I wish I wasn't one of those people that can be so easily hurt when I actually allow people into my personal "me" space - ya know?!

  i understand many of you are not coming to green bay, or you are coming to green bay and doing something besides being at the party that xenawarrior has worked so hard to arrange for us.

  i also know why and i must tell you i'm terribly disappointed.

  the only chance in months to see many of you, yet this has no meaning whatsoever.

  Not sure what's going on, but I SWEAR that the only reason I cannot make this (and I had said so when I originally decided to go) was that there was a special center that we were hoping to get our son in, one that would be able to concentrate on his occupational & speech therapy needs. When we got the "okay" last week that he would be accepted, due to that and my husbands own schooling (22 credit hours) - I couldn't leave for a weekend & leave my hubby to do all the kiddy care & kiddy carting around, as well as some of the seminars we will be attending are also on Saturday mornings. For my son's sake, I'll be damned if I were to be selfish enough to come & party. To much at stake.

  XenaWarrior - I know how hard you worked at this, I'm truly sorry that I had to cancel.
