  i really need your feedback .

  i am really down on the dumps regarding being shunned and torn apart about da (i haven't yet).

  a week ago i wrote to dr. phil on oprah and wrote briefly about jw practices on shunning.

  Hi Prisila.

  You have a ton of advice here. All of it good. You can go through it and make your choice.

  I have one thing to add that I didn't see posted or I missed it. You could have another person go with you or go alone and ask that your identity be kept secret in either situation.

  I sympathize with your not wanting to stir up your relatives. It is a difficult decision.

  Maybe one or more of the several here that voluntered could go in your place.

  In any case it is a wonderful opportunity and I wish you and all involved the strength to carry through.

  The jw's preach a doctrine of love but do not exercise it or demonstrate it very well.

  On the other hand they exercise and demonstrate hatred for others very well.

  As I have said before, I am convinced that if it were not for the governments presence a disfellowshiping would consist of murder of the so called offender.

  well i'm still a jw, still going to meetings etc although you do feel pretty bad sitting there knowing you'd like to be any place else.

  like i've read from so many of you i've been the perfect jw kid excellent meeting attendence, good field service blah blah all that crap.

  Hello there. I think Refiners Fire and the others gave you good advice. The only thing I would add is to take things slowly. You do not necessarily need to leave your grand parents quickly. Make a small move or statement and see how it is accepted. Slowly exert your independence with small steps and note their reaction. Do NOT get baptized as you then open yourself to df. & da actions. Remain the same person you are in actions as long as it does not stop you from becoming who you want to be. So as to not arouse fear in your grand parents. As mentioned previously build a support group of friends, not jw's, that can support you emotionaly. Pick these people with care. Make a firm decision that suicide is not an option to solving problems or finding relief from stress and problems. If those thoughts reappear get medical help.

  You are a young man with ALL the possibilities of life ahead of you. Realize that not all will be this difficult. Many amazing things full of joy and love may lie ahead of you if you just take life one day at a time and do what you think is right at the time.

  We all wish you the finest out of life.

  both brown and moreno said that the elders, who volunteer and are essentially untrained clergy.

  The very things they learn from the wbts result in a hinderance in trying to do this job.

  Don,t let this situation be known.

  Even though untrained, two men are to ask questions of a child without knowing how to not plant ideas-or to elicit a response. Two men that she/he views as powerful and scary.

  Discourage the parents from going to police or telling others with threat of df.

  Protect the society/congregation at all costs.

  Call the wbts for directions the first thing, this assumes a legalistic attitude and aproach to protect the societies and congregations liability and reputation.

  Require 2 witnesses.

  Determine the accused persons, stature and standing with the congregation.

  Determine the elapsed time if this was done some time ago. What does this have to do with it.

  Elders may not be inclined or directed to contact the police immediately.

  The elders are not told to direct the parents to have the child examined by a doctor for evidence. As this takes the situation out of the church hands.

  Are not all these things for the benefit of someone other than the victim?

  What would you do if religion collapsed?

  at this point in my life i feel very confident that leaving the jws was the best thing for me.

  however, 25 years of brainwashing goes a long way.

  (for arguments sake) if religion collapsed today, would you feel you made a mistake in leaving the wbts?

  Jump up and down-clap my hands? Maybe.

  I believe in a creator but I doubt this creator is anything like the description of jehovah. I hope he is not like the description in the old testament. I find no guaranty that he is like the god of the new testament.

  Religion did collapse when the catholic religion lost its power In europe and the reformation took place. It turned into a very good thing for people. There were new freedoms-science advanced-the medical profession was taken from the priests and medicine advanced. The people found new freedoms. The judicial system was taken from the church and put in the hands of civil authorities.Even the military was taken over by the governments and the religious hatreds were less and less the cause of war and the military theory of total anhilation of enemies was altered

  All in all it seemed to be a very good happening for all concerned. Except for the catholic church org.

  Was the creator involved in the reformation? I don't know.

  Do you hate me?

  perhaps i'm just a bit paranoid..but i get the feeling that there are a few posters that actually hate me (before its assumed--no i'm talking about lack of responses to my threads.. and no i am not talking about a disagreement of opinion) i am talking about a few posters that come across to me as very hateful in their responses.. and yes i know that not everyone here will like me (even though i'm so darn sweet and cute...lol) but it is an intense animosity vibe that i get and can't seem to shake.. maybe i am mistaken and maybe its just me..... but if there is anyone out there that does dislike me that much---i am curious as to why---only because i try to learn and grow everyday and your input would be especially valuable and probably essential to that -growth.. so whats the verdict---do you love me, hate me or just not care either way?.

  women, god and religion

  it's an extension of a conversation i had with my mother in law not long ago, a conversation which was itself an extension of several extensions of thought that i've had over the years about a number of things.. simply put, there are two kinds of people in our world.

  those that believe the bible and those that don't.

  Hi to all you road ragers.

  Having been a sheriffs deputy in So. Calif. I have seen the results of road rage. It was never a pretty sight. Some of the officers also had this problem. So the department had a psych. give us ideas to help in this area. Strangely enough the one that seemed to work the best was to intentionaly emit a small chuckle when one felt the anger starting to build and then emit a small laugh. Surprise surprise, almost everyone said it worked. It does work for me.

  Another thing I noticed was when I was in the borg. I was always some what angry. I didn't know it at the time but my kids told me I was and in looking back I can see that I was.

  Guess what? When I got out of the borg I noticed and my kids tell me that I an not angry all the time.

  Try this chuckle- laugh thing . You will have to force it the first few times. It could save you from some maniac shooting you

  When I first prowled this site I was amazed at the number of people that refered to their depression.

  I thought I was the only one. I knew the other jw's were troubled but I just thought they were crazy.

  In looking back on it now, I can see where almost everyone was showing some sign of depression or some other emotional problem. Paranoia was only one problem the wbts encouraged. My older sister could not form a sentence without creating a sense of doom.

  The information posted here sure is correct. Good job.
