Brother got thrown in jail

i wasn't sure where to post this, no reply posts are necessary.

i guess i just needed to vent, get it out of my system.

since i can't talk to my family because they are jw i need some outlet.

Wow! What a terrible set of circumstances! I assume this is in state court? Is there some public or private watchdog group concerned with justice system actions in your state? Maybe they or the Bar association could suggest something. In some cases going to the media helps. But the whole situation needs thought out before involving the media.

The only thing I can think of really is to get a GOOD "criminal" defense attorney with a good record of winning cases and go after them and also go after that first lawyer .. But sadly it will all cost big bucks. Maybe in the end the state can be sued for recovery of losses. Again it takes money or some outside entity that will take the issue as a distortion of justice and go for it pro bono. I doubt it would be of any help but the ACLU "even though I don't like them, may be of help.

I truly hope things ease up on you and your family. Stress is not a good thing on top of all the other worries and business needs you are facing.

I Know A Lot Of DUMB ELDERS

in over 4 decades, i have gotten to know a number of people in the organization.i have met governing body members, very prominent bethelites, co's and do's.

i also have come to know countless elders.the majority of elders that i have known are not the brightest human beings on the planet.

most thought they knew it all.

Dumb elders? Yeah.

I didn't think they were to smart to begin with. But they talked me into being one. I told them I didn't think I was qualified and was told that to refuse to be one when invited was a sin of omission.

So I said OK. Then is when I learned at the elder meetings and training assemblies that they were truly arrogant and ignorant beyond belief. One of them had, due to his arrogance lost all 6 of his children, as none would talk to him and his wife and one girl joined the Nazarene church just to piss him off.

Didn't take long until I wanted out of being an elder and you can't do that and still have a good standing.

Got a new job offer in another state and that was my chance to quit.

Depression sure didn't raise my ex wifes libido. She got suicidal and ended up hating the only person that ever cared for her or took care of her. ME!

Turned around and sucked up to the very relatives responsible for her sexual molestation.

It didn't do my libido any good either.

Well I did several but the worst I guess was at the last when I was an equal oportunity hater. I hated every thing jw and especially elders.

One of them attempted to counsel me on something and I raised my right fist stopping it with my left hand at the elbow. The international sign of "shove it up your AXX."

Got df'd not long after that.

I appreciate your post. It is always helpful to receive the suggestions of another. I will take the steps you mentioned the next time my son and I meet.

I have forgiven my self for the way I behaved and reacted to things with my children. But this particular situation still concerns me. How could I be so stupid to allow the borgs teachings do this to me and stay in the borg as I did?

Well I guess I am only human and we all make mistakes.

I need help with a dub who is leaving

Hi Nowhere.

You mentioned 10 yrs and a poster mentioned 8 yrs duration of healing. For me it is 11 yrs and there are still some vestages of the problems with wbts. However I noticed enough improvement in my life in the first year that it made the exit worth while. One will I think find the freedom of thought and action and release from the constant supervision from others takes effect right away at least to some degree and one begins to enjoy life more. Then as time goes by as another poster noted the reclamation of the old personality or the creation of a personality by those who were born into the borg takes place. This is what takes some time.

Since the time spent in the borg is a part of ones life, we can't expect to fully erase all memories and events from our minds. It is like the first love or the first rejection, it will always be there and recalled from time to time. But as time goes by it is only a memory and knowledge to use in life.

I was born into the borg. Struggled with it and fussed over it and mentally left it in my 45th year and lurked along the sidelines for another 10 yrs. Broke completely away in my 55th year.

Getting free was one of the best things that happened in my life.

I am pleased and glad for you, that you found something that worked for you. None of those things worked for me. I tried them with no results.

I am not calling you a liar, but I strongly doubt that you had true clinical depression. Although I am sure it felt terrible to you.

Do we choose to be depressed?

I had a sister "dead now" who lived her whole life as a person obsessed by gloom and doom.As I recall, she never once spoke about joy or happiness without in some way putting a gloomy message in with it. With her nothing was bright and happy. I do not think whe was ever depressed in any way.

It is my experience that depression starts when lifes problems get beyond our ability to handle them. When one finds no REAL love and acceptance from those they associate or live with and no understanding and personal support.

I also think depression can be brought on by a chemical disorder in the brain. I think several causes are possible. Physical-emotional-environmental stresses of many kinds.

Also like all illnesses, some people will exploit their situation for pity or attention and don't really want relief from the ailment.

Real clinical depression is a dibilitating illness. It is real and terrible. Unless one experiences it they have no idea how terrible. I always thought suicide to be an act of anger or revenge or a cry for help. Which I am sure some of them are. But after my experience with the severe emotional pain, so terrible I lack the words to describe it, I understood why some may choose suicide as the only way they see out of the pain. Unless you have lived through it don't embarass your self by judging the feelings and fears of others.

I was not quite clear in my post. Although my sons being raised in the jw cult has undoubtably had negative effects on him, when I referred to the crazyness or insanity, it was on the part of me and his step mother, not him.

When I was in the cult it caused in me a lot of confusion and anger. The conflict between what I inherently knew at one mental level was correct and the imposed behavior from the wbts being exercised at another mental level caused a lot of confusion and conflict in the family. This one son was the "identified" problem and recieved discipline in the form of abuse. When in fact he was not in any way "the problem". I and his step mother along with the wbts was the problem.

This has been very hard to admit to myself let alone others. I see on this thread that it is difficult for others to address this problem also. Until we acknowledge out own actions it is almost impossible to attain a level of mental health and get on with a happy life. Since I left the borg I see in myself, a great change from a strict dominering man "father" to a more accepting loving person that recognizes he is also in need of acceptance and love. We only get that from others and our family if we are willing to give it to them.

I have apologized to all my children and especially to this one son. But all the apologies in the world can not erase the pain and bitterness that I see in this son. I expect to take the grief and shame over this to my grave.
