  Poster country flags and privacy

  the new forum originally had a little country flag next to each post showing the country that the post was made from based on the geoip encoding (the country the ip address is from).

  before i switched over to the new site someone made an issue about it violating their privacy and i didn't want to complicate and confuse the switchover with policy debate at the same time as technical issues so removed the flags even though i disagreed.. someone has already requested it as a feature and i think it should be added back so i thought it's now time to open the discussion and get everyone's opinions.

  Are Today's Elders The Same As The Elders of the Last Century?

  i was 24 when i was first appointed as an elder.

  i very much respected the old timers, the elders that were basically good guys, family men and who tried to be good examples, although they knew they were far from perfect.

  i haven't been to a meeting in about a decade and i wonder if the elders of today are that much different than those of yesteryear.

  JW-Rutherford model is really a corporate structure of managers (local, city, circuit, district, branch, zone, etc) organizing the publisher sales force.

  The Bible is just window dressing, usurping authority to keep the R&F in line. Idea of a GB is totally a manmade invention.

  1st century Christianity is organized by Jesus, starting from Pentecost forward. Elders were spiritually skilled teachers with years of wisdom for shepherding, making orphans and widows a top priority, caring for their material necessities as well.

  No comparison.

  Yes, size of Sun is about 400 times greater than the size of the Moon; and Sun is about 400 times further away from Earth than the Moon.

  Website EarthSky explains this phenomenon.

  Emphasis is: Earth's view of the Sun and Moon situated (via a size and distance optical illusion) appearing almost the same size (while disparity of ~400x) is not a coincidence.

  Throw in fact that Sun, Earth and Moon are the same age (~4.54 billion, as part of modular Solar System components) is positively no coincidence.

  Nice presentation.

  Yip, seeing the universe and Earth from the perspective of their coming together from "beginning" (Gn 1:1-2) till now is truly a marvel, obviously spectacular splendor by God.

  Your effort is not in vain. Everyone on this forum will awaken in their own time.

  Science is right in its details, but wrong in its direction

  science observes, studies and analyses the basic nature of all the components constituting the part of any experiment, follows the principle of cause and effect, and come out with equipments that would contribute to our comfort and save us lots of time and energyall of which are ultimately aimed at making life on this earth happier, longer and healthier, thus making this world a better place to live.. yet man day-by-day becomes more and more unhappy and discontented, and world is becoming bitter and bitter!

  it means: though science is right in its details, it has gone wrong in its direction.

  it failed to rightly judge and assess the true nature of its prime object (man) for whom it works.

  I agree totally.

  It’s like the tide, the newest temporary wave of the material shinny sparkling things rolls in, and then ebbs away into emptiness.

  The “next wave” is on its way.

  so it's been about 10 years since i have faded out and have stopped believing in the jw teachings.

  since then, i have accepted jesus and have experienced an amazing tranformation in my life and have been freed from the jw prison mentally and spiritually.

  a more detailed thread about my journey is here if you are interested.. anyways, my jw family lives in another state so they are unaware that i am no longer "in the truth" since i have not told them.
