my parents became jw's in 1972 - i was 6 yrs old.

i followed their lead, baptized at 15, regular pioneer at 19, ms at 21, elder at 27. have given district and circuit talks, tms overseer yada, yada, yada... .

last september i stopped and haven't looked back.

okay, this is going to step on someones toes, i just know it.. when i stopped going to the meetings, i was talking a person at the time in the 1990's who had been out for a long time.

i thought it was interesting when he mentioned that he still went to meetings and worshipped jehovah, just not with the watchtower.

so i was wondering what he meant, and one weekend while in california with him and a group function for my employer at the time, he invited me to go a meeting.

I use to live in California and was invited to attend one of those meetings back in the late 90's I think. May have been 2000. I couldn't bring myself to go. Even though the people seemed to be very nice, it did make me very uncomfortable. I had a hard time understanding what the point was. There are quite a few exjws in Ca that attend those things, it ain’t for me.

Is the WT currently associated with the UN?

i know this topic has been beaten to death, i apologize for flogging the proverbial horse again... but someone mentioned a few days ago (can't find that comment now) that the wt still has ties to the un.

what evidence do we have for this?

if one of its corporations is still affiliated with the un, seems like that would be quite the scandal.

ours were contingent on the spirituality of the sister and, if she was married or an elder's wife, etc.

then, she got more leeway.

For those in Australia you might remember Bro Ted Bromich, he was very particular bout the length of the skirt he had a saying the skirt stops where the spilt starts!!!!

How long is Armaggeddon suppose to last? Is it going to last many years?

is armaggeddon going to last many, many years or is it going to be quick, fast and over with in a matter of months?

i know the bible does not say specifically but if you were to guess what would you guess on the amount of time for armaggeddon to last?

jehovah and jesus have enough power to destroy the world in minutes.

Since we won't be drowning will probably be burning for a month with a few jws walking around in it untouched.

Does God Work Through an Organization?

in other posts i've commented on how profoundly tom cabeen's essay, "does god work through an organization," affected me when i read it on september 15th, 2004. somehow realizing that the scriptures do not actually teach this helped me to see that the watchtower society was not what it claimed to be.

YES I think the skirts were not more then 1inch above the knee. Then later after I left that was lowered to AT THE KNEE..
