  Since your spouse is going to die at Armageddon, can we agree to date?

  my sister was always married to a nonbeliever as a witness, which means that her husband would die at armageddon and she would need to look into another mate.

  so when thinking about this, i remember a few in the kingdom hall that were attractive males and females, that had spouses that would die at armageddon for being nonbelievers.

  so wouldn't it make sense, since we did believe this, to court these ones and explain that after their spouse gets the holy crap beat out of them for their lack of faith, that we would like to be first in line for some possible dating in the new system.

  I have never heard that outside of perhaps joking around. It just goes to prove how inconsistent the religion is with regard to how and what various congregations believe and are taught, off the record. The wts wants us to believe ALL jws think alike and are in sink with each other all around the world, even though they aren’t even on the same page in the same country. The practice of shunning isn’t even consistent everywhere. Some shun beyond the point of absolute stupidity and others practice no shunning at all.

  Back in the late 90's when I started attending meetings again...briefly, a sister in my congregation was looking for a husband, a worldly one, why? Because she didn't like any of the single brothers in any of the congregations she attended and wanted to find herself a suitable mate pre-Armageddon before all the good looking single guys were destroyed. She really believed she needed to do that. Of course she would be counseled regarding her attitude but she didn’t care. She wasn’t going to go through everlasting life with anything less then Brad Pitt if she could help it. If that meant marrying an unbeliever and dragging him through Armageddon so be it.

  First, is that what you say TO or ABOUT JWs as a group or as individuals?

  Exactly. I can't think of anything I would want to say "about" them regarding their faith other then their thinking they have the one true religion, simple, that’s not possible. To argue anything is fruitless unless the individual is already doubting and in a receptive mode.

  i will feel better once i get this off my chest, i don`t know whether it`s ok to mention the cong, but anyway, it`s hayes cong in middlesex.

  what happened, i stopped going to the meetings, and was trying to `fade`, but who should appear on my doorstep, 2 `busy` elder`s (who had nothing better to do, obviously!

  ) anyway, they said `oh sister, we miss you bla bla bla`, got the bible out, tried to make me feel guilty by reading some scripture`s out loud, brought tears to my eyes, etc.

  Do we trade one arrogant "I am right" for another "I am right" attitude?

  when i was a witness, i was very arrogant in my life in thinking i was right in all things.

  the right religion, the right bible, the right understanding and the right lifestyle.

  when i left, it was not hard to shake this arrogance and i found at times i was the same person, only with a different "right" message and i annoyed my witness relatives as much as they annoying me.

  As I grew as a person more, and learned this life is often more full of wrong knowledge, then right.

  Ain't that the truth. I thought I knew so much more as a jw then I do as a regular person now but I am much much more content with myself. I appreciate all the knowledge others bring to the table but try to always keep an open mind, even if it seems rock solid. There's always room for a crack.
