Your early JWD days

what were your first experiences here or your first posts, and how did you feel as beginners here?

i was worried whether what i was writing could violate the posting rules or whether (as on other forums) there would be rude people that would discourage me.

I got right into it (obviously).

lol @ minimus! I remember well. You use to dance a lot back then. I think that may have set some posters off. Some that perhaps couldn't dance?

When I first started posting I thought there were way too many bellyachers and I could have and probably was tagged a jw apologist. Back then I was struggling with 'should I stay or should I go' with regard to the wt. I thought I knew a lot more then I actually did. Learning all I could about the society became a mission in life but as a poster I tried to stay as light hearted as I could while learning. I hated all the slugfests even though I would occasionally get sucked into some. Emotions can run high when we start posting so much info about something that has had a tremendous impact on our lives.

i hate it when i get a stupid word or phrase stuck in my head.

lol! it could be worse. The secretary where I worked fell prey to a joker on the phone and actually paged Mike Hunt. "Call on line 1 for Mike Hunt" Poor thing didn't live that down for days.

The useless WTS Website

i can't believe and low-tech and next-to-useless the watchtower website is.

considering how in the past the jw's used radio and other technology to help spread the jw doctrine "good news", it seems they should have developed a great website to help get new members.. but their site is dreary and hollow.

old information like the "generation of 1914 will see the end of the system" is still posted there.

I've tried to access info from that website many times and the info I looked for just isn't there. It sucks...big time.

How do you remember all the posters?

i have to admit that i'm having a hard time.

there's so many who take the time to make responses to my posts.

good and bad, which are all needed to help me keep my hat on straight.

I have a hard time remembering the names of the people I meet face to face. I am awful with names and it is irritating/frustrating…If you find a good way to remember names let me know.
Heck just the other day I forgot my dogs name and called him something else.

MY SON WAS ATTACKED!

yesterday afternoon my older son, karl, who is studying musical production at brighton university, came round to see his family.

he had just been to see his pregnant girlfriend, who is staying with her mum and dad for a week.. karl is a wonderful boy; the type of son any parent would be proud of.

he is loving, considerate, respectful and has never once caused any trouble or been in any.

How HORRIBLE!

I’m so glad to here he is ok, aside from the obvious. It could have been so much worse. My sons are both in there 20’s now and I still worry about them. It’s impossible not to no matter how old they are, they’re still our kids.

The Watch Tower Farm store is closed

can those of you that have good links to old articles paste the links here?

my desk top went down about 2 years ago and i have been using my laptop since.

i wasn't smart enough to "quickly" transfer everything to disk before it crashed.

Well this is just irritating. Are they working day and night to cover up all old wt literature so they can do what? Say they didn’t say that?
Arrg.
Every site I go to that has “actual” articles is down. Even though it is funny to see them work so hard to cover something up it is soooo chicken***t. What are they worried about... Armageddon will be here before enough people have a chance to read anything anyway…right?

Let's just get something straight about 1975.

nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.

in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?

there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..

All these time lines and guessing games the society has been playing since it’s conception is like a never ending chain of continuous sin that few seem to want to acknowledge.

I think that is probably the largest of all turn offs for me as a jw. Even as a teen I knew it was wrong and it bothered me. It never failed to amaze me how often and how candidly I was brushed off when ever I would bring it up. BOGGLES THE MIND.

I recall one time I asked a simple little question about the society’s timeline regarding Adam and Eve. I asked how do we know God isn’t counting from the moment Eve took that first bite from the tree of knowledge? OR When Adam shared it? What year was THAT? The response I got was pretty stupid. “Uh…because the governing body are the ones that figured it out and they are spiritually directed to do so and we’re not.” OH REALLY? All I could respond with was: If THAT’S true then why are they trying to figure it out at all?
