Disassociating was the only choice for me after years of inactivity. With my DA letter, I wanted them to know that not only had I found something infinitely better, but that the Society's threats and coersion were powerless. I disagree with the thought that writing a letter is playing by their rules. In my mind my DA letter was a formal rejection of a false religious system. I didn't even want to be remotely associated with them.
The whole time we were JW's we were taught to stand against opposition. So that's what I did..I opposed an organization that lies in the name of God. There's too many people that leave this religious sect and continue an existance of fear. The only fear JW's should feel is the consequences of remaining in a pseudo christian sect making false claims in the name of a God that has not spoken to them.

Are there benefits to DAing Yourself?
by zenpunk ini've been away from this board for a really long time, since then i've made huge progress in my recovery from life in the jw world thanks to some professional help.
now i am at the point where i just don't want to be anywhere near anyone remotely associated with the organization.
my parents no longer speak to my husband and i, but when i do have to interact with my jw inlaws i feel incredibly sick.

Why did you leave?
by greendawn inif someone asked to state briefly why you left the jw brotherhood what would you say?
-
PointBlank
Because the Truth led me out of Darkness. To do otherwise would have been a denial of the Lord Jesus Himself. To go back would be apostasy of the authentic kind. I think I'll stick with the real deal.

Have you a POSITIVE JW experience??
by ScoobySnax inok sometimes i feel it's good to maybe not redress the balance, but at least can you say something positive that you gained from your jw experience.
so thats what i want you to do, if you so feel inclined.
can you say or mention something that had a positive effect on you when you were a witness?

Being a JW and being associated with the Watchtower Society taught me what abusive religion is and what spirituality isn't.

What's The Most Unreasonable Thing You Did As A Witness?

Developing the attitude that I was so much better than my non-witness family. I'm deeply ashamed that I spent so many years neglecting my mom. But a mom's love is priceless. She welcomed me back with open arms and never said anything except I'm glad you're out of that religion. Oh yeah, she did say one other thing....and that was "I knew you'd come to your senses some day. I was just waiting...." Aren't mothers great??

Jesus invisible return
by gringojj indoes the wts have any scriptural evidence that jesus would return invisibly and annoint them?
-
PointBlank
They can't 'prove' anything at all about Jesus. As for an anointing, only the individual recieving it can testify of it. Others that have recieved it can usually recognize it in the testimony and actions of other recipients. The WT 'faithful & discreet slave' are NOT anointed. They cannot describe it, cannot testify of it, and certainly have never provided evidence of such a wonderful event in their words or actions.

Did you ever experience Holy Spirit?
by Ring Wielder ini was a jw for 40 years.
although as an individual/cong/body of elders holy spirirt was prayed for, i cannot think of one moment when i thought..right now i have gods spirit acting upon me.
it was never described adequately for me to completely understand and i suspect that others felt the same, yet everyone talked as though they knew exactly how it worked.

Yes I did feel the 'prompting' of the Holy Spirit as a JW. And although I didn't realize it at the time, it was the Holy Spirit that brought me out of the Watchtower organization. It culminated that part of my life when I was baptized with the Holy Spirit (and THAT you do feel) in Nov 1995.

JWs today are baffled by you, because it's different today, for lack of a better word, it is a "reformed" organization
Reformed??? Perhaps, but I hardly think so. I would be more inclined to describe it as another JW generation trying to make their wacked out religious sect more palatable to a new, but better informed and savvy public.
