i overheard a discussion between two jws, they said that when someone is disfellowshipped, they are asked to hand their blood card back to the elders.

i had never heard of this before, is this correct?.

I once asked a question about this on here* and there were a few doubtfuls, in the UK, anyway, but I was sure that I'd read about that sort of thing a couple of decades ago. Did WT legal disallow it, due to the obvious smoking gun of WT interference in "a conscience matter"? Could anyone in the congregation not turn up to the meeting? Could you get away with not having a blood card?

Why would you hand it over to the elders? It's your document, your property. You should burn/shred it at the first opportunity and make sure that they don't have any future say in your healthcare.

Sounds dodgy to me. If the disfellowshipped person is hospitalised, needing a blood transfusion and unconscious, the elders could give the blood card to the HLC, who could then use it to stop a transfusion, even if the disfellowshipped person is fine with one.
So much for the reformed, "kinder and gentler" WT. When the HLCs are disbanded and the corpses of every last GB member are hanging from gibbets, being feasted upon by carrion fowl, I'll believe in WT reform!

Great seeing Caleb and Sophia's family celebrating! Of course, until the Mum guilts the kids into dumping all their presents into the garbage, like in the Sparlock episode. 🙄

Can't he just participate, Riley, and say "To Sheol with them and their idiotic rules!"? Or is there some arsehole who might dob him in?
BTW, the "we don't do Christmas" feast by the Kingdom Hall dwellers is a nice touch. The hypocrisy is so tangible that you would think that they would trip over it.

The last two times they came to our door it was two young blokes. I don't know if that has any bearing on or relation to the above discussion.
