Yikes! Don't say that. You'll just make JW's think more prophesy is unfolding (thus proving Jehovah is true and Satan a liar).

New Catholic Priest Abuse Scandal
by herbert inhttp://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/gma/goodmorningamerica/gma020523archbishop_accused.html .
this would seem to be a very poor time to be defending religions like the jws against the clear evidence that they don't handle molestation incidents in any way that could be considered moral or responsible.

Slim Jims: Jehovahs Jerky, or Satans Meatstick?
by The_Bad_Seed inthere has been much ado over claims that slim jims may have therapeutic value in treating blind rage and aging spots, as seen in such celebrity cases as macho man randy savage, and in easing the mania that comes from watching wwf raw more than once a week.
a u.s. institute of medicine report acknowledges that there is some truth to these claims.
but does this mean that the near-future doctors will be prescribing slim jims, as if they were a panacea?.

The WWF is now WWE. Some extremely bright people couldn't distinguish the World Wildlife Fund folks from the wrestling group. If you consider the mentality of your average wrestling fan, I guess you can see there is a valid point.

Have your prayers changed?
by eyeslice inthis is a sort of follow up to "jesus- ignored, forgotten & unemployed at wts" posted by metatron.. it strikes me, that since i have re-appraised many of my religious views that my prayers have changed significantly.
and whilst i am still an active jw, i have wondered whether my family has noticed, though they have not said anything so far.. jws prayers are not only very stereotyped (despite what jesus admonition about not using the same words, or by extension the same thoughts, over and over again) but also extremely introverted towards the watchtower society.. for example, a typical congregation prayer will include the following thoughts;.
1. bless our congregation.

Churches...would a JW go
by KistByQpid inunder what (if any) circumstances would a jw go to a church?
is it the building itself or is it church services they have an aversion to?
can they go under circumstances that are not neccessarily considered "worship"?

The Webster definition of church is as follows:
Pronunciation: 'ch&rch
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English chirche, from Old English cirice, ultimately from Late Greek kyriakon, from Greek, neuter of kyriakos of the lord, from kyrios lord, master; akin to Sanskrit sura hero, warrior
Date: before 12th century
1 : a building for public and especially Christian worship
2 : the clergy or officialdom of a religious body
3 : a body or organization of religious believers: as a : the whole body of Christians b : DENOMINATION c : CONGREGATION
4 : a public divine worship <goes to church every Sunday>
5 : the clerical profession <considered the church as a possible career>Of course your local Kingdom Hall by the Society's definition fits this word. But JW's have always tried to make deliberate distinctions from all other religions which they label as "Christendom", so the word church is not used. In fact, attending a church is a disfellowshipping offense (see the elders' manual).
Unfortunately, the JW's fit into the same category as so many other religions who have added to the tragedy of humankind. Why did September 11 happen? Because some folks thought their religious beliefs were superior. Similarly, many Witnesses and X-Witnesses find their lives torn apart because of the arrogance and snob complex of the WTS.

i heard that recently and it made think of the many of us who have suffered in our years of association with the wts.
trying to cope with a traumatic past is very difficult.

OUTLAW took my answer. So I will have to say there is no happiness without sadness. No good without bad. If you were happy all the time, there would be no happy or sad.

My favorite: the James book. I loved it even before I knew it was written by an apostate.
Least Favorite: The Watchtower. So much nonsense taking up so much of my time!

2/3 of all JW's are women and what it implies
by Mindchild ina few weeks back, kinsman posted a link about a recent survey of religion in america which showed that 68% of all jehovah's witnesses were female, which is the highest ratio of women to men in any religion in the usa.. i believe the reason for this unbalance in adherents in favor of women comes down to two fundamental reasons.
the first is shunning and the second is the appeal of the "family type atmosphere" that the witnesses pretend to offer.. we all know the power of shunning keeps a lot of people trapped inside the collective, and just due to the fact that women are enculturated more with having emotional bonds with others, makes it a bit tougher to leave family and friends behind.
this doesn't mean that men don't suffer emotionally, but the general trend is more for men to suppress their feelings and damn the emotional torpedoes and go full speed ahead out of the bad dream.. this suggests to me, that if there is a major modification of the shunning policy, the largest exodus will be in the female ranks.

I don't think it really matters why there are more women then men. Perhaps there are that many more domineering men trying to force them into submission. This statistic means absolutely nothing by me.

Why I think JW's NEED to BAN all Assemblies now!
by Mindchild inthis post is not going to make you feel good.
i'm rather sick myself for even telling you about this.. im also not trying to be alarmist and add to the ubiquitous stress and terror that we already see in the usa but there is something that is bothering me really bad and i wanted to put it out there to get some honest feedback on.. the recent biological warfare attacks in the usa have of course altered everyone about the real potential danger of terrorism and how we collectively are vulnerable.
when you take the time to really study biological warfare though, you can see that the current anthrax attacks are far more bark than bite and only a small number of people have actually died from these attacks.

If you think you are at risk of bio-terrorism just say "Jehovah! Jehovah!" That will make the germs afraid and they will run away.
