  Let's not forget the U.N. scandal...

  i'm not trying to hijack anything, but i just thought it was worth drawing any visitors-to-the-board's attention to the u.n.scandal.so they cannot write off the paedophile issue as 'human failing', and realise that there is something deeply wrong here.

  i hope my point is getting across here, i am not trying to minimise the paedophile issue at all, it is truly horrendous!

  and my heart goes out to all victims.i believe any jws whose blind faith in the gb might have been tweaked lately should also know the truth about the u.n. thing, that's all.thanks.

  he said "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.

  so then fast forward, eve was created and she's hanging out by the tree, talking to the serpent (satan) and satan says: "you will not die.

  So what happened? They ate the fruit and died? NO. The Bible says they ate the fruit and suddenly their eyes were opened, they knew that they were naked, they knew good and evil that was previously hidden from them and they lived on for hundreds of years.

  And by the way, since they didn't know good and evil before they ate the fruit, then how were they supposed to know that listening to God was good and listening to the Serpent and eating the fruit was evil? Either way, God got really pissed (like He usually does in the old testament) and cursed everybody, Adam , Eve, the Serpent, the ground, everything in sight, and then Satan gets the bad rap.

  But how was Satan wrong and God proven true? Wasn't it the other way around? I mean, the name of the frickin' tree was "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil". Would it not make sense to Adam and Eve that its name pretty much gives away what it does? Otherwise it would be called "the tree of if you eat from it you'll be dead in 24 hours"? In my book, Satan wins this one.

  this would seem to be a very poor time to be defending religions like the jws against the clear evidence that they don't handle molestation incidents in any way that could be considered moral or responsible.

  Slim Jims: Jehovahs Jerky, or Satans Meatstick?

  there has been much ado over claims that slim jims may have therapeutic value in treating blind rage and aging spots, as seen in such celebrity cases as macho man randy savage, and in easing the mania that comes from watching wwf raw more than once a week.

  a u.s. institute of medicine report acknowledges that there is some truth to these claims.

  but does this mean that the near-future doctors will be prescribing slim jims, as if they were a panacea?.

  The WWF is now WWE. Some extremely bright people couldn't distinguish the World Wildlife Fund folks from the wrestling group. If you consider the mentality of your average wrestling fan, I guess you can see there is a valid point.

  Have your prayers changed?

  this is a sort of follow up to "jesus- ignored, forgotten & unemployed at wts" posted by metatron.. it strikes me, that since i have re-appraised many of my religious views that my prayers have changed significantly.

  and whilst i am still an active jw, i have wondered whether my family has noticed, though they have not said anything so far.. jws prayers are not only very stereotyped (despite what jesus admonition about not using the same words, or by extension the same thoughts, over and over again) but also extremely introverted towards the watchtower society.. for example, a typical congregation prayer will include the following thoughts;.

  Churches...would a JW go

  under what (if any) circumstances would a jw go to a church?

  is it the building itself or is it church services they have an aversion to?

  can they go under circumstances that are not neccessarily considered "worship"?

  The Webster definition of church is as follows:

  Function: noun

  Date: before 12th century
  1 : a building for public and especially Christian worship
  2 : the clergy or officialdom of a religious body
  3 : a body or organization of religious believers: as a : the whole body of Christians b : DENOMINATION c : CONGREGATION
  4 : a public divine worship <goes to church every Sunday>
  5 : the clerical profession <considered the church as a possible career>

  Of course your local Kingdom Hall by the Society's definition fits this word. But JW's have always tried to make deliberate distinctions from all other religions which they label as "Christendom", so the word church is not used. In fact, attending a church is a disfellowshipping offense (see the elders' manual).

  Unfortunately, the JW's fit into the same category as so many other religions who have added to the tragedy of humankind. Why did September 11 happen? Because some folks thought their religious beliefs were superior. Similarly, many Witnesses and X-Witnesses find their lives torn apart because of the arrogance and snob complex of the WTS.
