A little tangential here, but of interest.
Just found this yesterday. The prophecies in Isaiah 65 are all about the paradise, or so say the JWs. In the New System, there will be no more death (remember, death is done away with, thrown into the lake of fire). So, have them explain Isa 65:20, right in the middle of all those prophecies.
The explanations in the publications are real eye-rollers.

i have spoken to %90 of mymfriends & family.. and i have found that there are 3 basic reasons why people stay.. .
1. god has always had an organization.
the organization has never been perfect, but he has always had one.. 2. i know a lot of things are wrong, bit where else can i go?
JWs who know TTATT stay in because they are trapped and figuring out an exit plan.
Yes. For some, the cost of leaving is almost too high, either emotionally or financially. For example, the financial cost of losing one's family through divorce is too high a risk. Only after one mentally accepts the risk can one actually pull the trigger on leaving. This is pretty hard for some people, including me.
up until 5 years ago, the co used to work up their own parts for specfic congregations in their circuits.
everything is up to script, in other words, every co in the country are givings the same talks in the local congregations they visit.
what got me to cringe is when he said at the meeting, trying to encourage everyone to pioneer this august; he said :" you know this october it will be 100 years since gods kingdom began ruling, remember what happen when joshua told the israelites to march around jericho on the seventh day, and what happened when they let out a great war cry?
I must be dense. Since when does the march around Jericho equate to 100 years of God's Kingdom ruling years? Are they making the Jericho march into a prophecy? This religion is getting weirder and weirder...

She said, "The majority of the time, the people who leave, at least in my observation, these are the people who don't want to WORK. They either don't want to participate in the preaching work, or they don't like the idea of submitting to authority. The people who get disfellowshipped, do it to themselves. They make the choice to be disfellowshipped."
This is almost a direct quote from a talk on apostacy. I wonder what actual knowledge she has as to why people leave? That they don't want to work? Really? Or maybe it's because they don't want to preach what WT says to preach because they believe in their heart it is wrong. That's my reason for not wanting to preach the JW way. And I have no problem submitting to authority, so long as that authority does not go beyond what is written.

From here, she went into a little diatribe about "Bible principles." She asked me, "How does God feel about abortion?" I said he hates it. It is murder. She said, "You won't find that in the Bible! Abortion is not mentioned in the Bible." I said, "Thou shalt not kill. Killing unborn babies is murder." She said, "but scientists claim that is not killing, that it is not a person." I disagreed with that statement, but was not going to go into a debate about abortion.
That's a surprising reply on her part. She's right, the Bible doesn't specifically mention abortions, but the Mosaic Law covered injury to a pregnant woman and the baby dies.
If men should struggle with each other and they hurt a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but no fatality results, the offender must pay the damages imposed on him by the husband of the woman; and he must pay it through the judges. But if a fatality does occur, then you must give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, blow for blow. - Ex 21:22-25

It was announced last night. Notably, the visit will always be on a Tuesday night. So, congregations are going to have to keep switching around after all.
All this to protect the precious Family Worship night because some give that up during the CO visit currently? This makes no sense. So what if it's missed two times in a year. Who cares?
well in light of the 17 billion calls i got this week my wife and i decided to attend the meeting.
it was nuts!
we got love bombed right when we got there.
It's a win-win for JWs. According to them, God DOES protect all his loyal ones. Either he saves your life, or He lets you die and then you are safe in his memory awaiting the resurrection! It's a win either way.

Hasn't been announced in our cong, yet. Maybe this week. We'll see. That change is probably quite welcome for COs wives. They haven't had the benefit of only one mid-week meeting like the rest of JWs have. The elder who said this claimed the extra night would be used by the CO, Elders and MSs for visiting inactive ones. Don't know if that was in the letter or not.
anyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.
Interesting speculations, Ocean111. There's definitely some brilliant financial moves going on and since most JWs think they're all part of one big organization, there's no issue with these financial moves for most of them. I'm having a bit of fun just watching people's reactions. Only time will tell what will become of all this.
