great post! and it is remarkable, isn't it, when we've backed away from the mind-numbing droning of the WTS and then read something in the Witchtower - it's so clear, the deception, the sneaky phrases, the dancing around various verses to come up with a totally imaginary result - sad to say we all bought into it at one time, isn't it?

Just received Crisis of Conscience!!

however, after reading something here on the forum, i decided to order it (and the tao of pooh and siddhartha.

Satan's little helper: Sorry can't help you out. My eyes glaze over when it gets to stats and nos. of publishers vs. baptisms. I never could figure it out, since you can be a publisher without being baptized. There have been threads discussing this when each year's service report is published. Maybe a search on that?

needless to say, we haven?t stepped foot in a kingdom hell since then.

Ahh, you guys are so great! Thanks for all the PMs and info. It's quite amazing how serene and comforting another translation can be. We did Psalm 23 last night, a pretty obvious choice I guess! The psalm is short, and mum was tired, the cat was claiming her place on the pillow, so the evening ended with a laugh and some comfort.
In comparison to the NEB, the NWT is pretty dry, especially in the Psalms. Seems like the organization follows the tone set by its translation.
SS: I did a Canada411 search for the store but came up with nothing. The video sounds good, maybe I'll pick it up on Saturday after I have my cawfey .

Glad you're feeling better, MonkeyPrincess. Sometimes there's not much to do with all these conflicting emotions but ride through with the knowledge that you'll come out happier at the other end. The job is a great idea also.

i've been here since march as a temp; got a full-time offer in december and almost immediately the workload has increased and there is no new hires are on the horizon.
the political games in some of these departments is mind-blowing.

(((Billygoat))) Companies like yours are everywhere, in every country. I work for lawyers, two of them, who happen to be very kind and supportive. But the politics here are crazy, and HR is no help, if your boss sticks up for you you're fine, if not, it can be hell, irrespective of how hard you work.
It's just awful going to work every day when you're under that kind of stress. Hope things look up for you.
