why are we observing the lords evening meal again(wasn't 2014 supposed to be the very last memorial - we really mean it this time?)?.

The word "observe" is the clever part of the title. All the verses that discuss the Lord's Evening Meal say to 'eat and drink.' This is what "observing" the Lord's Evening Meal means. When the WT says "observe," they want you to be like an outside observer. Only they also want you to affirm that you are only an outside observer by actually handling the emblems and making the choice to not partake. It is a very clever lie backed up by some serious peer pressure via the talk and everyone else around you looking askance at the person who dares to do what Jesus plainly said to do.

(Matthew 26:26-28) . . .As they continued eating, Jesus took a loaf, and after saying a blessing, he broke it, and giving it to the disciples, he said: “Take, eat. This means my body.” 27 And taking a cup, he offered thanks and gave it to them, saying: “Drink out of it, all of you, 28 for this means my ‘blood of the covenant,’ which is to be poured out in behalf of many for forgiveness of sins. . .
(Mark 14:22-24) . . .And as they continued eating, he took a loaf, said a blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying: “Take it; this means my body.” 23 And taking a cup, he offered thanks and gave it to them, and they all drank out of it. 24 And he said to them: “This means my ‘blood of the covenant. . .

Incidentally CrazyGuy, my post was in support of yours and intended to provide further reference for any lurkers/readers interested in understanding the incongruencies in the WT's "faithful slave" dogma. I think you have a pretty good grasp of the problems in the WT's self-serving explanation of that parable.

And notice how Jesus eventially answers Peter's question ( “are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone?”):

verse 48:

". . . everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked"

Judging by Jesus' response, Peter's "us" evidently meant the apostles; "everyone" being all the disciples. Jesus' saying in verse 48 applies the parable to every disciple who feels they've been "given much," as well as those "entrusted" with responsibiliy.

From the WT's standpoint, it makes sense that they rarely quote this part of the passage. It demolishes their interpretation.

I have copious notes which I'll type in later. The two main points of counsel were about being punctual (directed to Bethels workers no less! And the program went 10 minutes overtime, curiously enough). The other main GB talk was directed towards families ("Are you a spiritual family?" was the title). A spiritual family reads the days text, eats together, obeys the GB, dresses appropriately, eats together . . . that's all I remember for now).

No faith-testing announcement, unless you count the family talk as such. Anthony Morris gave it and mentioned it would step on some peoples toes several times.

Indeed, if this 'faith-testing' is true and from the WT itself, it indicates a huge arrogance on their part. I did a search in the WT-Library of "stumbl*." There is a massive amount of NT counsel not to intentionally test others faith: Mt 13:41; 16:23; 17:27; 18:6, 7; Rom 14:13, 21; 16:17; 1Co 8:9, 13; 10:32; 2Co 6:3; 11:29; Php 1:10; 1J 2:10; Rev 2:14.

i just discovered that the circuit assembly my family is attending tomorrow contains a symposium entitled:.

help others to seek jehovah's righteousness: those who have become inactive.

i poked around a bit on here and didn't find any comments about this.

I noticed this too. They have already been told by the Society why you are "inactive" (or whatever label is attatched). It doesn't matter what you say, unless you push the 'apostate' button. Then, suddenly, you become a far more dangerous person, unworthy of being 'helped.'

When did the last days start ?

somewhere hidden well within the jw.org exists an article about the last days of the last days of the jewish system of things .when did the last days of the jewish system of things start was it at the pentecost or before that ?

is that important when we compare jesus' days our days as a way to find what will initiate them ?

i wrote a small post in relation to this any extra valid information towards this will be much appreciated.

These posts here and here have scriptures listed from the NT that show that NT writers viewed the "last days" ("time"/"times"/"hour") as commencing with Jesus' first advent. Hebrews 1:1, 2 is a good example (although the NWT distorts the rendering to hide this).

Hebrews 9:26 speaks of Jesus "manifest[ing] himself once for all time at the conclusion of the systems of things" (note plural "systems of things" or "ages"). From this verse it would appear that, from the NT point of view, all previous eras conclude with the "last days" which start with Jesus' first advent, and culminate when he returns. Acts 17:30, 31 seems to confirm that view (see this thread).

several years ago, i was studying the bible (jw literature) with an ms from the local congregation.

i happened to mention that i had several pen pals who were incarcerated in various prisons.

no matter what crimes they committed, i said i saw them as fellow human being who deserved to have a friend to write to.

Thanks for that reply. That was a fascinating answer, seeing how it was forged from experience. (I had to read it a couple times - I'll probably read it again.)

It is amazing, given the collective experience available at the time among JWs, that no one bothered to try to prep you for your experience. I'm a little surprised that the WT hadn't come up with a booklet or material to help prepare the brothers for that possibility (aka like the child custody material they have prepared).

Bible - War in heaven - Satan cast to earth - Why?

reading the oct 1 1953 wt about gog of magog because of the posts about the changes of identity.. basic question:.

why would satan (whether gog or not) be cast to the earth?.

why not cast him to quadrant 4 of the galaxy?.
