I always pictured them sitting around a huge circlular table discussing all the laws they would impose on us earthlings.

Question about the Annointed.
by patricia inwhen you were still a jw, what was your concept of what happened to those of the "annointed" who had died.
i remember the scoffing and tittering when we were out in field service when a householder mentioned their belief that their loved ones were in "heaven".
we were told to ask them "what was heaven like?, were there pearly gates, did people eat up there, did they have emotions?

Something quick and easy!
by link inmy wife was given a hard time out in field service today.. a householder told her that she belonged to a wacky american religion.
this upset her so she told them that the governing body of jehovahs witnesses were not all americans and that several nationalities were represented amongst them.. can anybody confirm that this is actually the case?
where in fact do they all come from?.

funny thing about that Gov Body just having men in it. while the annointed is made up of women and men.

Newbie with question
by outbackaussie inbeen browsing around...and i have to say it is alittle difficult to tell if this is a pro or anti jw site.
any takers on filling me in on what the attitudes are around here?
it seems there are quite afew inactive and df or da people but then there seems to be alot of chat about meetings etc.. for the record, i was raised jw from age 5, baptised at 15 and df at 17 and reinstated at 18. i would call myself inactive...most of my family are still active but talk and associate with me.

What do you live for?
by YoursChelbie ini have been wondering, .
before, while in the borg, many of us were under intense indoctrination of ideas like; "live for god", "look to the new system were everything will be perfect.." .
--not in those very words but you know what i mean... .

yeah I know that ugly Jerry, I like the bad Jerry which is really the good Jerry.
I look forward to spring, it lets me see how my 50 some trees have gotten bigger with each passing year.
Love that tune gopher! I could easily sing it in my head and once I master the words I'll be singing it around the house.

My Wedding Uninvitation
by LB inwell the lovely young sister let my wife know today that only she would be invited to her wedding.
i'm not in the least surprised.
i know she really likes me and that her first inclination was to have me attend regardless of my daing myself recently.

I also think this is ridiculous, they didn't have to be brought there as often as they did. some people are always looking for someone else to blame and a little law suit happy.

Getting Married as a Catholic
by teenyuck inmy husband and i got into a discussion about joining the local catholic church, signing up for 2.5% of our income and getting married by a priest.
never went to church until 5 years ago.
we agreed to look into it.

i was raised Catholic, my husband Lutheran, I wanted both priest and minister to do the wedding ceremony, the preist refused because a minimum of 3 months was required. (my husbands the procrastinator) and no we didn't have to get married. we had it without the priest, that was 25 years ago.
growing up in the religion, the envelopes used to make ones weekly contribution always bothered me. They would at the end of the year post all the members in the church and how much or how little they gave. My parents were not rich and I sometimes think they felt they had to give to make it look good. I wonder what would happen if you couldn't give the requested 2.5%.
having made to feel like you had to contribute to the borg also bothered me and I didn't do that very often.
I hope things work out for you.
one more thing about that church that didn't seem right is they pray to Mary the mother of God.

Hello, just thought I'd share my newbie story
by WingCommander insince i am new on this forum, just thought i'd share my story.
(though it seems typical on here) born into jw's.
parent's nutty jw friends told them to raise children like nazi's, and not allow them to do anything, or associate with anyone other than jw kids.

growing up has to be something else in the borg. we are glad to be out of it. our sons didn't feel they missed out on to much because I always had a back up plan ( being the parents not raised in the truth). when the holidays came around they got the day off from school, x-mas they had presents, just not on that day, sometime during the vacation I would do treasure hunts for them, they had to go find their presents. they loved it and still do. for two of them though I think not being able to go to birthday parties was hard. they sure are having great ones now.
for schooling, they would of gone to what ever they wanted to become, I didn't buy into that crap of not getting an education. they have to support me (us) when we're old and wobbly and I ain't cheap. just kidding, whatever will be will be.
thanks for sharing your story and glad things are working out for you. from Jackie in Nebraska
