how old are you?
I always let my boys associate somewhat as I felt it could be a good witness for them. try telling them that.

Ever been to a "quick-build"?
by WingCommander in" for anyone not that familiar with jw lingo, it is when everyone in the congregation gets together to raise a new kingdom hall in about a week, or a weekend.
kind of like the amish do when they have "barn raisings.
" lol.

nope
I guess we were never invited because our hours were to low.
funny thing is: we built our own house and still didn't qualify. the inspector said that our son (16 at the time) did the best electrical job he had ever seen.

Update: door to door visitors
by truthsetsfree ina few weeks back a number of you advised me on how to talk with jws who were coming to my door, obviously hoping to engage me in a study.
i have no new news, but those who were concerned that i might join their numbers will be glad to know that i haven't.
i have had lots of time to study up (books at home and y'all's posts) so when they actually come by at a time where i'm not bathing a child/taking one to school/ on my way somewhere, i can probably talk with some degree of intelligence.. still wondering, though, don't these people know how to call ahead?

Call Ahead? these people are afraid Satan will intervene if it is planned.

Birthday Today!
by livingagain inposted this in jw news and events but meant to post it here.. please read and give your comments.
i have been on this new job for the past 10 months and when i went there i was still a loyal jw and told them i did not celebrate holidays and birthdays.
being a wt slave for the past 27 years just recently (4/5 months) took off the physical chains but still have the mental shackles on to a degree.

since I'm reading this on the 11th. a belated happy birthday!
you share the same day with our youngest son. he had a great day. I made a dog shaped cake, had the candles, balloons and conffetti jetisoned at him. today he's having a small party with some friends from school.

My Finale on the Internet - Forword to 3 Parts
by Amazing inlife is tough regardless of whether we were ever jws.
my own life has taken some twists and turns i did not expect or like ... and i have to focus all my attention now on getting my badly needed open-heart surgery or face death in about six months ... so in the next couple of days, i am making the last of three posts for a while ... then all my efforts will be aimed at getting better, and facing some issues in my life and making the best decisions possible for me and my family.
i decided to limit many activities because i tend to do too much and neglect some things that i should not ... this is not a good-bye post, but more of a long vacation post.

you'll be ok. they've been doing open heart surgeries for decades now, can you imagine being a first candidate for that.
stay positive! time will heal. hugs from Jackie

6 months out and at times doubtful
by Leander init was in may of this year that i resigned as a minsterial servant and stopped attending jw meetings.
i made a fairly clean break from my congregation without the typical disassociation process.
while some areas of my exit were very smooth others were extremely difficult.

it's kind of like wanting someone to know the truth so bad we often bombard them trying to get them in. you are doing the opposite, Have you got the Crisis of Conscience book by Ray Franz? My husband did early in the year and had kept anyone in the house from seeing it. mid July he decided to leave it out in the open, I eventually picked it up and often stayed up late reading it, It just added fuel to my fire because I was already torked at them for the pedohpile issue. we both DA in August.
good luck and have patience.
