Mother-In-Law Shocked and Stunned

just when my a non-christian mother-in-law thought she had heard everything about jw's, she was thrown for a loop with last night's program.

she's been familiar with the jw's in my community and my mother all her life, not to mention her daughters marrying jw's.

in this case, familiarity didn't breed contempt but rather total shock.

yes I can not get over how callous these people are in thinking it's apostate and therefore not the truth. I remember telling an older sister who had not seen the dateline show about the pedohile problem, and her response was the same. "those apostates will twist things around". I just kept thinking how awful Erica had been treated.

How Blind, it's like they are the blind leading the blind.

I think those who are not familiar with the JW's are getting familiar with them through this type of, shall we say "witnessing"

Anyone Vegetarian???Need advice...

well i just got my blood work done, it was way over due , it has been three years.

it came back good on the sugar, but bad on cholestoral...... and very , very bad on triglycrides.

my family on dad's side, everyone has trouble with this from a very early age, and all of them have to be on meds even thou they changed diet, lost weight, and exercised.

Valis beat me in mentioning the Boca burgers, I have them while our boys eat their beef. Look for them in the frozen foods. I use to be on a vegan diet while figuring out what kind of health problem I had. I lost weight, my trigliceride levels were down, the bad cholesteral was a good number but the good cholesteral was a bad number.

i went back to eating whatever, cooking that way was like a restaurant, ( it still is sometimes ) and my bad cholesteral went up to 245 so I was put on lipitor, 5mg. after a 3 month check up the hdl was still low and I was told to take 500 mg. of time release niacin at night. the next checkup it went up from 37 to 52. My doctor said that if the niacin bothered me ( the flush ) that I could take ibuprofen or aspirin with it. and too I take milk thisle and lecithin for liver protection as well as coQ10 and wheat grass supplements.

My sister refuses to take lipitor and is just taking niacin. I still do a vegetarian meal 2 to 3 times a week. the vegan is harder because you don't eat dairy products. and when my boys are out of the house we will go back to it more often.

and Dede, smoking doesn't help your health one i- o- ta. please quit, quit for Chance's sake, for the health of your family, for less wrinkles when your older and so on.

you can request that your doctors office mail you the results of your tests.

She's Graduating!

my oldest daughter jennifer will graduate from medical school on may 1st!

it was a long haul for her.

she spent almost nine years as a full-time student at san diego state university.

congats to you for being the parent you are,

and congats to your daughter for sticking it out, being in that profession takes a lot of work and a lot of years and takes a special kind of person that the world needs.

why do jw's celebrate graduation ceremonies?

a graduation ceremony is a celebration holding others on a pedestal when, according to jw policy, all honor belongs to god.

why do they celebrate graduations, anniversaries and baby showers, but birthdays are off limits.

I had always thought that was weird too. maybe they do it because it's not mentioned in the bible?

so when the gift solicitation cards came around I or my family never cared to go or get them a gift because most of the time those graduating were a stuck up pain in the ars to be around.

well i have officially graduated from the florida college of natural health and have applied for my license to become an esthetician!!!!

Do you feel safe where you live?

i was just driving back from the store on a street where a young man was killed a few years back, as he was murdered right on the street i often think of this every time i drive back from the store.

his house was about 100 feet from where his body lie in the street and blocks from my house.. i actually feel safe where i live and do know where to go and not to in toronto but crime happens everywhere no matter where you are, you can live in the quietest neighbourhood and right next door the worst can and has happened.

do you know where to walk at night and where not too in your town?

I feel safe in the area we live around, it's on a golf course and a circle so we can see who's coming in. when we built our house, we had several deliveries placed on the lots around us and nothing was ever taken. but if I go walking alone, I take a cell phone.

as far as the city, I stay away from the bad parts and am defensive when driving. and I don't go out at night.

for terroists we have the Stratigic Air Command Center here, it's the second place Bush went to after the 9-11 attacks.

WHAT DID YOU MISS OUT ON WHEN IN THE BORG

we as a family allways wanted a family pet as in (dog ) but as the ministry loomed every weekend ,as well as the meetings we decided that it would be to much trouble ,subconciously the influence came from other members in the congregation ,which in turn came from the elders in turn from the bethel ,allways sprouting on about the ministry first ,you never had time for anything elsemow ,yes a dog would be to much trouble,but now,for the past two /half years my younger children are enjoying the companionship of an animal in the house,as well as 2 cats which we have had for past eight years,.

did you find time for animals.. what did you miss out on ,allso for past 14 years we have had different caravans and motor homes ,.

what did you miss out on when in the borg ,and how did it affect you.

since we were the only ones in the borg, we missed out on family gatherings, the Thanksgivings, Christmas's, birthdays. when we did get together during the summer, I always felt I couldn't be too close to them, so conversation was limited because after all We were the only ones who would survive this system. Sheesh, how arrogant.

I Am So Sad

january 26 is a particularly hard day for me.

two of my children were born on this day, five years apart.

i can't wish either one of them a happy birthday.

sorry to hear you are feeling blue, the loss of your son, even though it was years ago, feels like yesterday. and too, maybe your daughters anger will subside some day.

try to focus on what good you have in your life and take one moment at a time.
