Hey TJ!
Simon said a "brief" bio (without elaborating on "brief"). Looks like your bio didn't make the cut, man. ;^)
Cheers,

many thanks to stephanus for getting this started and all the hard work putting together the 'whos who' site.. i've added an additional box to the profile page where you can enter a short biography (plain text - no formatting yet).
this is displayed when people click on your profile link (the 'membership card' icon under you poster name).
i will add a link to the member listing page to indicate people who have biographies with a link to display them.. let me know if you have any problems.

ex-jw women: i, and i assume other ex-jw men, would enjoy hearing your views, opinions, feelings, analysis, and conclusions about your jw experience.
how did you feel about your husband, fathers, brothers, elders, ms's, and other women in the organizations?
did you generally feel oppression, and why?
BTTT
Amazing,
Great idea. This is definitely not "fluff". There must be many more insights available, so ... come on, you QUIET ones--let the Society know how their policies affect 60% of JWs.

Seeker,
Well, I think the reason Xena posted this in Jokes and Humour is because it is a JOKE, and not intended to be taken (too) seriously. Jokes typically do not square up closely with reality, and that's by intention. BTW, are you trying to do here exactly what the thread title says never to do? LOL ;^)
Cheers,

well, my husband found out about my affair (yes, i gave in to the temptation with the soccer player and while it was fantastic, it's over now) and it's been a devestating time, we almost got divorced, but we're working through it.
i knew telling friends and this board wasn't going to help me fight his romantic advances, but i tried.
it was a one time thing that would have continued, but i wasn't too careful about the clues (guilty conscience i think).
Thanks, Xena. My wife just advised me I'm silly to even be reading this thread, but perhaps I will check the library ... human sexuality or psychology section?
Best,
RW

Mindchild,
You neglected to tell us which issue of Penthouse you got your information from. Also, how do you define "amazing success" and "maturity"? Just wondering.

g e lessing 1729 - 81. german dramatist and critic.
if god were to hold out enclosed in his right hand all truth, and in his left hand just the active search for truth, though with the condition that i should always err therin, and he should say to me: 'choose!
' i should humbly take his left hand and say 'father!
Hi Wanna,
And, in fact, the left hand is all we have been offered.
Thanks for the quote,
RW

this is a good reminder.. this is a sweet, thought provoking challenge:.
read the riddle.
here is a pretty neat little thing from paul harvey.
Delightful post, Closer. I used to enjoy listening to Paul Harvey every day on an hour-long commute to/from work. "And now you know ... the REST of the story. Good day!"

i don't read the bible very much.
i don't call god 'jehovah', either.. you know why, of course, both the bible and 'jehovah' make me think of the wtbts.
that, folks, is a very unpleasant memory, so if satan is living in brooklyn, he's succeeded in pushing me away from the good book.
Joseph,
I believe you mean Hans Kung. Yes, excellent reading. No, NOT entirely ignored by the American public. Here is a brief summary fo the twenty propositions from "On Being a Christian": http://www.auburn.edu/~allenkc/challenge.html .
I would also recommend Paul Tillich's writings for those interested in modern Christian theology. Here's a starting point: http://www.crosscurrents.org/Tillich.htm . "The Essential Tillich: An Anthology of the Writings of Paul Tillich" is a wonderful overview of his very rational and articulate ideas.
Best wishes,
RW

we cut a christmas tree this afternoon at a u-cut lot about one hundred miles from home.
we were on our way home from my mother-in-law's house and thought we'd start a new tradition.
we had ideas of tromping through the woods with the kids looking for the perfect tree.
Sounds like a great tree ornament. Should delight your kids.
Best,
Rational
P.S. Happy Holiday!
