  berlin germany has told the united states it will withhold evidence against sept. 11 conspiracy defendant zacarias moussaoui unless it receives assurances that the material won't be used to secure a death penalty against him, germany's justice minister said in remarks released saturday.

  just seen this on the news.

  i know that european countries won't extradite anyone to the us if they could face the death penalty, but this seems a very different kettle of fish somehow.

  1. germany acted this way before to oppose capital punishment.

  2. t he members of the EU (as the rest of the world except britain and israel) is pretty fed up with US foreign politics. neither germany nor any other country has a reason to get involved in this war against terrorism since it is the politics of the US that has caused the whole mess in the first place.

  3. the argument with the oil is silly since the arab countries are not even against the execution of this guy.

  sorry i think i misunderstood you...i just get a little annoyed if americans are accusing other nations (including germans) of being inhumane for what happened in the past disregarding their own history of atrocities.

  i think the european societies have come a long way since the last WW. their justice systems are indeed as humane as possible. this is unfortunately not the case in the US. germany has spoken against capital punishment in US already on other occations. i respect therefore their position in not wanting to contribute to an execution.

  ok lets list a few of the american contributions to peace in the world

  killing of native americans, slavery, bombing of cities in germany and japan, usage of nuclear weapons, nuclear bomb testing on islands (without proper evacuation of the inhabitants), inprisonmnet of japanese during WWII, korean war, vietnamese war, support for every corrupt and criminal government in south america, bombardment of panama city, their middle east politics (including the bombardment of lybia and irak), constant support for the criminal activities of israel, ...

  their foreign politics is a true blessing to the rest of the world!

  the us is the only civilized country that hasn't banned the death penalty. besides that, their justice system is anything but just and a disgrace to the Us.

  since the us is giving a shit about the opinion of other countries regarding their foreign politcs i think it is absolutely ok that germany is holding back the information.

  i know that the society keeps copies of books written by former witnesses, but do they moniter sites such as this one?

  if so, how closely?

  if these sites are watched who is doing it? wouldn't the brother/sister risk to get doubts after reading apostate postings? quite a dangerous task for sincere witnesses!?

  really? do you have statistics about the decline in the western world? i thought especially among spanish speaking people in the US the numbers are increasing.
