i just had a jw come to my door and i had to threaten her to get her to leave!

i told the woman right off i was 'apostate' and had no intention of changing it.

she kept asking me personal questions which i told her were none of her business and she said she would have the elders come by and i told her that if they came by the better be wearing bullet proof vests!

Portillo's has the best damn Italian beef sandwich I ever put in my mouth! (salivating) You have to order it dipped though. Get the meat soaked in it's own juices so thick that it is wrapped in 4 layers of paper just to be able to put it into the bag and it STILL drips out.

Now THERE is something I DO miss about Chicago!

Or while we are at it...

I would like a Jutown polish sausage. Or how about Mickey's Gyros on the South Side?

Or Patio Ribs? Or Home Run Inn Pizza? Or Giordanos?

Or the Taste of Chicago (which just ended a few weeks ago)

i attended a week long [six day] bible student convention in johnstown, pa, just outside of pittsburgh, there was a sister from romania who wanted to visit pastor russell's grave, so we drove the 2 hours up there, the last time i was there was in 1999.

well, apparently russell'sgrave was vandalized, on the front and back of the tombstone there are these photos of russell embedded into the granite, someone decided to keep a momento and ripped them off, so there's just a hole where the pictures were.

no respect for the dead, oh well.

However since many people tend to get enraged when the topic of moral absolutes comes into play, I will now remove myself from this discussion.

What does respecting the dead mean? And once again why?

Respecting the dead means having the common decency not to commit a crime and vandalize their final resting place.

Would you want someone pissing on your mother's grave? Would you want someone stealing flowers you bring to their memorial or breaking apart the headstone you paid for?

I doubt it.

It is a simple case of reciprocity. Even though I am not Christian...

Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you.

I have being talking about if Jesus were walking around on the earth today and we could ask for one more miracle, what would it be that you would ask?

I would ask that their almighty God Jehovah see to it that his only organization on earth through which he directs his people via inspired utterances either stop misinterpreting the messages and having to change them when it comes to topics like the generation doctrine, organ transplants, blood transfusions, 1975, rape is sinful for the woman if she does or does not scream, etc. Oh wait, if they are misinterpreting the messages, then are they an inspired prophet? Or is their loving only true God simply changing his mind and causing the unnecessary deaths of countless people?

That's my miracle.

See if he/she calls back after that.

So many wonderful examples have been given already. Some of them are worthy of repeating and elaborating upon.

Beards on men are wrong. All men in Watchtower literature are depicted as having facial hair, yet for a man to currently have facial hair is a sign of a rebellious attitude and an unwillingness to serve Jehovah God properly by lack of compliance to Watchtower Society standards.
The generation that saw 1914 would by no means pass away. ~~The WT Writing Department bullshitters change the story.~~ Oh wait, that is incorrect. After 1995 and these people reached age 80+ (special mightiness) then this explanation is rescinded and "New Light" is given.
The end is coming in 1914, 1925, 1975, etc. etc.
Smurfs and other inanimate objects will be possessed by demons and can physically inflict harm on JW's.
Double-talk regarding membership. If membership increases in a given region, it is explained as a sign that Jehovah is blessing efforts and the end is near as the preaching work draws to it's close. If membership decreases, then it is fulfillment of the prophecy that the love of the greater number will cool off. (are these people actually that braindead to not see through the slippery snakes?)
Text-messaging on a mobile phone is dating and can lead to fornication.
All people who are not Jehovah's Witnesses are unfortunately "worldly" and to be avoided as associates and will be destroyed at Armaggedon if they do not convert to JWism.
To accept organ transplants is cannibalistic because a person is ingesting someone else's body parts and this is contrary to Bible principles. Oh wait, they changed that. The WT Society as God's only prophet and organization on earth must have misinterpreted the message or God changed his mind and caused people to needlessly die adhering to this silly belief.

I think I'm about to become a victim of an "intervention"

i just got a phone call from someone i used to know, oh, about 25 years ago.

she and her cousin and i hung out together as single pioneers -- they got married, i got married, we lost touch.

well, turns out she now goes to the same congregation as one of the witnesses who works at my law firm -- the same one who, months ago when i started telling people i was no longer one of jehovah's witnesses, told me i could believe what i want but "don't make trouble for the rest of us" -- and evidently the two ladies got to talking and my co-worker gave her my phone number at home.

This thing with my phone number has really bothered me all day. I promised myself after *****'s first phone call to me last winter (autumn? can't remember when) that if ANY Jehovah's Witness contacted me due to her getting my phone number from the firm list (because I did NOT give her my home phone number at any time) that I would come to you and complain, because I don't want to be harassed just because I left their religion. The person who called me today flat out told me that ***** gave her my phone number and she obviously wants to "encourage" me to get back to meetings.
I don't want to be harassed. I don't want my husband awakened in the morning any more than is necessary. I certainly don't want my phone number -- from a confidential, in-house firm phone list that is the property of [my law firm] -- thrown around congregations in the Dallas area for anyone to call me and hassle me about my status in their religion. I want Jehovah's Witnesses to leave me alone and, so far, the ones in my area have done a beautiful job of that. I thought ***** and [the other JW who works in my office] were similarly respecting my position, as I respect theirs. ***** asked me in her last phone call to "not make trouble for the rest of us." I asked the same of her and that's all I want now.

Sounds to me like this scenario is backfiring for the JW's involved. If anything it is demonstrating to the Office Manager and other employees who find out about it that the JW's are willing to violate privacy and undermine corporate policies to continue to harass former members etc.

Go on and give them a good Reverse-Witness (TM) Cruzan. You ARE worth it. You DO deserve better. DO NOT tolerate this from them.

Should the U.S. Release Photos of the Hussein Son's?

my *personal* opinion is that they should because the people of iraq will probably require some proof.

i don't have any interest in seeing the photos but i believe that their photos will spread throughout the internet and the news media and curiosity will eventually cause me to peek at the photos.

don't know why i would have interest in seeing a couple of lifeless bodies though.

Too late, the US government demonstrated their hypocrisy once again.

It was a violation of the Geneva convention and "morally reprehensible" for Iraqis to publicly display pictures of American soldiers killed in combat who invaded the country.

Now when the situation is reversed, the United States opts to publicly display images of the corpses of two of the leaders/soldiers of the Iraqi regime. Don't mind us. Do as we say, not as we do.

You want to see the up close, bloody, bruised, and blue pictures of Odai and Qusai? Here ya go.
