Something that my devout JDUB cousin said...
by yogosans14 inwe used to be so close before she got heavily involved in the jw religion.
she actually got me into it (i actually believed all the nonsense) and i went to meetings with her and everything, we were like brother and sister.
she lives in texas now in a remote area where their is no cell phone signal or anything with her dad and mom (i think they said they moved their to get closer to jehovah which is weird).

It makes people absolutely unhuman. Their hearts and brains might as well be made of wires. -

So true, it's North Korea and she better not complain.
I remember that laundry room and seeing how hard those sisters were working. they're going to die young. Used up and spit out.

How to get JWs to talk about disfellowship?
by datto ini have heard a lot about disfellowship from forums, blogs & youtube clips.
and all of them are real experiences from ex-jw.
however i have never physically met an ex-jw before.

It's not only for an 'act of sin' that they will shun. If someone decides they no longer agree with the witnesses and dares to go to another church, they will also be shunned. They may call it 'disassociation' in this case. But if you are a baptized witness, you are not allowed to ever, ever change your mind.
Some may be automatically 'disassociated' or others might choose to write a letter of disassociation. If someone is disassociated they lose all family and friends who are witnesses.

Oh my, those last 4 posts were quite discouraging. This religion tears apart families. I think I'm the first woman to contribute here, and I just want to tell you what to say through my perspective.
Assure her you love her and you want to stay strong together and she is the only one for you. She might be somewhat insecure about that, because you are an attractive man. Also assure her you do not want to be the master of her faith, that is up to her. If she started seeing things your way eventually, that would be fantastic, but you won't push her and you will let her decide on her own, but no matter what you will be by her side. Let her know that even though you have decided you don't believe in any of it, you are still a moral person and you're going to be a faithful husband. Let her know you know how hard this is for her, and you are the one who changed, and it's not what she was expecting when she married you. But remind her you married for love, and that has not changed.
I didn't read the Gerber story yet. It sounds great. But just wanted to tell you what a female would want to hear. (Edit, it took forever to write that, and I do think clarity who posted meanwhile is female!)

The life of every JW youth ever - as told by Disney
by Goldenash inso i remembered the old hunchback of notre dame movie that came out back in the 90s, and i realized the one of the songs in it perfectly captures the way that the borg-org treats its kids, and how the kids feel trapped inside of it.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxfd7tk8kps.
just substitute the words "deformed" and "ugly" with "imperfect" and "sinful", and it fits perfectly!.
also, i just realized how much quasimodo sounds like the singing cart from that jw broadcast video... make of this what you will... o.o.

Yes it's true!!!
it's also very similar to Tangled, where Rapunzel finally leaves her tower and simultaneously is FREAKED OUT that she's being bad and completely delighted about the feel of grass under her toes and the joy of freedom. Seriously even if I was a witness (and I was when I saw it, and wanted out but wasn't there yet) but even if I was like really a witness, I would have gotten that message. Yep Disney sometimes really seems to get it. Check out also the lyrics to Frozen's 'Let it Go.'

SDA church general conference has voted NO on womens ordination and now there is a big fight
by barry inlast wednesday the question was put 'can unions ordain women as ministers in the sda church?
the vote was defeated yes 41.35 to no 58.45.. the dutch churches responded quickly saying they won't be changing there policy and will continue to ordain women.. the north american division and the two conferences in california have women pastors that are already ordained.. the sda pastors in china are mostly women.. the internet is running hot with opinions one way or the other.
here is how millennials feel about there church at this point most are studying at an sda university.

Religions that don't recognize women for roles of ordination are wasting the talents of half their members or more! -

The new Governing Body is liberal. they are really freeminders!
by rege brazzy indear friends, your posts are very good, but we really think that they will change many things soon...for example.
watch tower now are feminist and they protect the gay cause.soon we will have many gay marriages in kingdom halls.you will see.that governing body is really cool.ted jaracz and john barr were the last puritans in the governing body!.
the current governing body is completely liberal, but as yet has some bethelites the old guard working, they are still holding some behaviors .... but very soon you will see ... even in my congregation is very liberal ... not here disassociates for immorality .. just for apostasy ... i fucked three sister, but the elders did not shunned me, but they only help me!

You are surely not using a condom....this would show forethought to sin and your gig would be up. What do you plan to do if you impregnate a 'sister'? Grow up. And start showing some respect to women. And stop being such a faker. If you want to get out of the religion, get out. Slowly or quickly, you choose. I'm no witness, but your attitude disgusts me. -

So I clicked on the Mormon come-on advertisement to "Come chat about Jesus Christ"
by oppostate inso i clicked on the mormon come-on advertisement on the top, the right side and the bottom of the jwd page that invited me to "come chat about jesus christ".. i started a chat with brook and taiza and asked them why the subtitle of the book of mormon changed from "another gospel of jesus christ" to "another testament of jesus christ".. brooke told me it hadn't so i googled it and told them there's plenty of websites that refer to it that way and i had a very old copy with that subtitle on it.. so taiza says it's probably a copy by some break off group and not from them.. i told her the inside said from the "lds".
so they left the chat.. so i figured maybe there's a technical glitch and i shouldn't assume they just dropped me.. so i log on again and give my last name instead of my first name this time.. and hellen and catherine log into the channel.. i ask them again about the title change and they drop off the chat.. so i figured twice is very unlikely that they had a glitch, and i'm pretty sure they dropped me because they didn't like my question.. one more time, i'll give them one more try.. so i log on again, with my middle name this time.. brooke and jayne log on.. i type that i'd been chatting previously with brooke.. she types back that she's a different brooke.. so jayne starts asking if i read the book of mormon.. i say yes and i have a question about it.. so i ask my question about the "another gospel" to 'another testament" change.. she says that she does not recall ever hearing about that and what do i like about the book of mormon.. i then ask her about the "gospel" paul wrote about in corinthians.. she says it's the same as in the book of mormon.. i ask back that if the gospel is the "same" why call it another???
and i quote her galatians 1:8.. she says that it does not apply to the book of mormon since it is not different from the bible so therefore, it is not another good news.. but that is the subtitle of the book isn't it.. so she sends me a link to a two minute video by the lds telling of the finding of the tablets and the transcription from reformed egyptian to english by joseph smith.. i started questioning whether reformed egyptian was a real language.

Millie we are often so alike! I am the same exact way.
Mormons like to ask that 'what do you like about us?' question. Some came to my door when I was still a witness. (Disclosure: talking to Mormons isn't easy for me. if I have been prejudiced against anyone, it is Mormons. I think this is based partially on subconscious dislike of my own past religion and sort of wanting to deflect my frustration at something.)
They asked what I like about them and I managed to say I appreciated that they are very family centered. They asked if I had read the Book of Mormon, and I had read some of it. They were all gushing and said 'what did you think???' I said I didn't want to discuss it. I wanted to keep their visit brief and didn't want to get negative on them. I guess as much as I disliked Mormons, I knew what knocking on doors was like so felt sympathetic.
A witness chat line would be funny. I'm pretty sure they would hang up the second someone said something negative.

Taking the step to post on an apostate site....that is just a huge, huge step! We are so conditioned to think we will be an evil person in God's eyes. Bad, bad, us. Remember: the only ones saying they speak for God are themselves. And this is blasphemy. They are a false prophet. They have no authority and no say whether or not we are 'bad!' They just think they do. Actually you are brave and amazing to think independently and say 'you know what, I think you're wrong.'
