we have neighbours who have been very sincere "born again" christians, for about ten years.
i know that quite a number of you on this forum are also born again, but my question is, just what do you believe?, i understand that you don't have any particular denomination and appear to join any church service as you wish.
when i used to go out on "field service", i seemed to get different understandings of the scriptures, from born again christians, some seemed to be of the opinion that they would be taken up into heaven and armageddon would wipe the earth clean and then they would be put back on the earth, others seemed to think that they would go to heaven and stay there ?

Do you have any set beliefs, or do you take your own understanding from the scriptures?
I don't mean for this topic to be offensive to anyone, I am just curious, especially now that I am starting to read lots of different bible translations.

my somewhat "inactive" mother says she's getting the feeling that i'm losing my faith in the wts and has asked me to explain to her.
problem is, i locked up because it's been so recent and my mother can be quite intimidating.
she's a "see it to believe it" person and has suggested that i show her proof.

I realise that you're asking for help to compile a list, my husband and I have compiled a big file (indexed for each category UN, False Prophecies etc) - quite a thick file !! but I was wondering if you have Ray Franz book "Crisis of Conscience", the evidence that Ray sets out is taken mostly from the Watchtower's own books and magazines, what an eyeopener for any witness, we have recently bought this book for some JW friends, they have both read it and are now convinced that it's the organisation that's apostate, and have decided not to go anymore.
I'm sure the info in Ray's book would be very helpful for you and your mum

i was browsing around the watchtower.org web site and happened across their stats.. i found the cayman islands to be of particular interest.... there is only one baptized publisher, yet there are two congregations with 169 peak witnesses, 114 average bible studies and 461 in memorial attendance.. i can't help but wonder how they pulled this off.
one baptised publisher, two congregations.
there is obviously not a body of elders in either congregation..

my older half-brother and his wife and 2 boys.
We had some friends around on christmas day, we had recently bought Crisis of Conscience for them (they've been JWs for over twenty years), and the first thing his wife said when they arrived was - I've just finished the book, and I feel so happy and relieved, for months | had been thinking that I was being rejected by Jehovah, but now I realise that the Organisation does not have Jehovah's backing. They have decided not to go back - I must say that we were a little apprehensive when we gave them the book, but we are so pleased now.
I do hope that Matt will see the Org. in its true light.

Surely that means one person baptised in that year, not one baptised publisher. If there is only one publisher then he/she is very busy with over 23,000 hours in the field service. !!

i have often wondered why some people that leave the wt organisation go really weird.
there is a couple near me who left a couple of years ago.

I know it's very difficult to even imagine your own children shunning you, I have three sons, and I am so grateful that they made up their own minds when teenagers, not to go along to the meetings, they hadn't got baptised, so there was no problem there. Try to think positive, we have two very dear (JW) friends who are tottering on the brink of coming out of the Org. we have spoken to them about our feelings and we thought that perhaps they would cool off towards us, but we took the plunge and bought them Ray Franz's Crisis of Conscience, we asked them if they would object to us giving them this book, but they said they would like to read it. Today, they telephoned to say that they can't put the book down and are taking it in turns to read it, they admitted it has really opened their eyes to all that is going on within the Organisation, and they don't feel so guilty now about the doubts they have been having about things. Who knows, this may be the way things turn out for you and your children, I do hope so.

and if so where did the information come from?.
i am getting my tree delivered this afternoon and am wondering if i should invest also in some very thick curtains and keep them closed for about a month .

I suppose it all depends on where you live, whether they will call on you on Xmas Day.
We live out in the countryside - this territory gets "worked", once in a blue moon! but just in case of a visit, we are considering getting an effigy made of the Presiding Overseer and putting it on the top of our twenty foot high fir tree, growing outside in our garden, and having twinkling lights all around !!!!
It would be worth it, just to see their faces ! No doubt we will be amongst the ones who will receive a "shepherding call" in Jan to March, but I don't know if we can keep the lights on for that length of time :)
Have you tried the "search button" for Xmas Day, it might work.
