My Personal Experiences thus far

i was brought up around the "truth" as a child.

my parents studied some then later after they were divorced, we (mom, sis and i) moved in with my grandparents, who were inactive witnesses.

though inactive, they still touted all the wts lingo and doctrine.

i am 26 , i was baptised at 12 (way to young to make that choice) df'd at 13, reproved at 16, and then finnally df'd for good at 19. i have been forced to leave behind my family and friends, but other than that have never been happier.

i just found this board and i am very happy i have, it is great councelling, and look forward to many great discussions.

That's really good news Rayvin, we all have a lot to thank Ray for.

It's not going to be easy for your dad, but he is taking the first step, I do hope that your mum will follow him too. We were in the Org for over 30 years, and we came out together (me & hubby) CoC was the turning point for us. Once you realise that the Governing Body are not who they claim to be - it's then so much easier to look into all their other lies. We bought the two books CoC and ISOCF by Ray, and gave them to our friends - we weren't sure at first if they would take offence, but they didn't and they too are now out of the Org (they had also been in the JWs for 30 years)

Is this the best board for a "fader"?

I've tried looking at a few others but I think this one is the best. The only problem (if can call it a problem !) is that it's so popular, the topics disappear too quickly.

Daughter of an ex witness and a re-instated witness.....

my parents divorced when i was 12. their divorce was so messy and upsetting that it threw my mother for a loop that none of the elders came to her aide.

she has been distant and negetive towards jw's for almost ten years since.

my father was re-instated after an almost 20 year apsence and is now happily attending meetings with his new family.

I'm sorry to hear that you (and your mum and dad) have had difficult times. My husband and I were in the JWs for over thirty years and we really thought that only the witnesses had the truth, but when we found out about the Watchtower's secret involvement with the United Nations, we were horrified. We had put so much trust in the Organisation and suddenly we began to see them for what they really are. Please make sure that you check out everything before getting involved with them again. Do independant research and if possible share your concerns with your boyfriend.

We hope that you will come back and let us know how you're getting on.

ive been "in the truth" ever since i was 6 years old when my mother was baptised in the late 70`s.

so i sort of got dragged along to the meetings and therin started the indoctrination that was to prove to be my undoing.

ive been reading this page for a while now and read some very slick posts from dissillusioned ex members.

hello...i've had enough

i hope this finds everyone well.

i feel like i am doing something wrong but i really don't care anymore, i've had enough.

i am 4th generation, born 22 years ago and raised a witness and need out.

welcome to the forum GoTan - you will find lots of helpful people here.

You have a difficult time ahead but it will be worth it to get out of the cult. Our situation was different from yours & in many respects, it has been a lot easier for us (husband & I). We were both in the JWs for over 30 yrs and came out together after finding about the hypocrisy etc (UN involvement started our investigating the Org.) We only have one family member still in,

We decided to send in our letter of Disassociation, but in your situation, it may be better to fade, as others have said.

If you can get your family to accept your decision, it will be a lot easier for you, and you never know, perhaps you can get them to think seriously about things too.
