Today I had been DA

first of all, sorry for my bad english i'm from peru south america.

there's a lot to tell but i'm going in this time to be brief, because i'm very busy.. i had been an elder for almost 8 years and a jh for more than 22 years.. i'm a searcher of the truth from the 10 years old.

i grow as a catholic and got baptized as a jh at the age of 21.. in october of 2001 a jw friend ask me about the un&wt and bulgarian affair.

The Watchtower Society taught me to praise my works to others, i.e: "I did so many hours in service today", "I gave so many Watchtower, Awake magazines today", "I better telephone- witness now since I don't have any hours in field service- I don't want to be inactive this month". e.t.c....

Your traits of Watchtower indoctrination really show on your posts.

What are your thoughts on writing DA letters?

as most of you know, i have been inactive for about 2 1/2 yrs and completely out for about 7 months.

i am debating on wether or not to write a letter of da to the org or not.

in some ways i just want closure, and on the other hand i dont want to play by their rules.

Dear Shirley,

I'am inactive also, and I intend to remain so, if possible. And I agree with Mulan's statement not to dissassociate from the Watchtower Society in writting.

Why? Beacause:

Handling a dissassociation letter to the Watchtower Society will result in your loss of being able to communicate with your loved ones and friends who are still in. Not writting them the DA letter gives you an opportunity to witness to your loved ones and also to the ones who have not shunned you as a result of your exit from the Watchtower Society (inactive status). By being in an inactive status you can witness to them - you can show them the real "truth" of this man-made organization as you find it opportune to do so.

God's name

ever notice how as a witness, you could not say "god" by itself.

always had to be preceeded by jehovah, or just say jehovah.

i remember my ex telling me that was the first sign that they knew i was on the way out, because i would refer to god simply as, "god".

The Bible admonishes us to use Our Heavenly Creator's Holy Name:

MATTHEW: 12:18,19,20,21 (18): " Look! My servant whom I chose, my beloved, whom my soul approved! I will put my spirit upon him, and what justice is he will make clear to the nations. (19): He will not wrangle, nor cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice in the broad ways. (20): " No bruised reed will he crush, and no smoldering flaxen wick will he extinguish, until he sends out justice with success. (21): "Indeed, in his name nations will hope."

ROMANS:10:13: " For "everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved."

JOHN 17:26: " And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them."

ISAIAH:"12:4,5,6: (4): And in that day you will certainly say:" Give thanks to Jehovah, you people! Make known among the peoples his dealings. Make mention that his name is put on high.(5):" Make melody to Jehovah, for he has done surpassingly. This is made known in all the earth.(6):" Cry out shrilly and shout for joy, O you inhabitress of Zion, for great in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel."

EXODUS 20:7:" You must not take up the name of Jehovah your God in a worthless way, for Jehovah will not leave the one unpunished who takes up his name in a worthless way."

do they still make family movies?

it look like things that get produced these days by holyywood filled with f word, sex, violence, drug use and hurling.

no movies hardly to take your kids to or that a christian can watch.

SALVATION?? What is it really?

just wondering what some of your thoughts were on this topic of salvation.

i've heard alot about it and really want to believe it, but i am having such a hard time understanding about god and jesus christ since leaving the org.

i am fed up with organized religion and am afraid to go to chuch.

I read your post and prompted me to share with you these two beautiful Bible Scriptures:

ISAIAH 26:13: " O Jehovah our God, other masters besides you have acted as owners of us. By you only shall we make mention of your name."

REVELATION 7:10,:(10):"And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying:"Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb."

REVELATION 7:11,12: (11):" And all the angels were standing around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell upon their faces before the throne and worshiped God, (12): saying:"Amen! The blessing and the glory and the wisdom and the thanksgiving and the honor and the power and the strenght [be] to our God forever and ever. Amen."

My Story

first off, i want to give prop's to "dantheman"......that post inspired me to share my experience, and thanks to everyone that responded to my first post under "desperately seeking"....that was a nice welcome.

this might ramble ..... i was born and bred into the borg....my dad was/is an elder, i had a big family, two older sisters, three younger bro's....i was baptized at 15 (i'm 25 now) and tried to pioneer...give talks...have repsonsibilities...but the wrong feeling that had been welling up in my stomach and kept getting stronger as time went on.. when i moved away from my hometown at 17, my life really started to change.....i met an awesome girl (another jw)....and we fell in love pretty quickly...and i also left home and got my own apt.

(much to my fathers sadness).
