  Talk with a Governing Body member

  what would you say to a governing body member if you had the chance?

  a few years back while i was a jw i visited my sister and brother-in-law at bethel.

  well, after the grand tour of crooklyn, the farm and having dinner with the bethel family i had the honor of attending the sunday meeting at a congregation where a couple of the governing body members attended.

  Atheism's view on death

  well, it's winter, and it's just a bit more depressing this time of year, and i'm thinking about death.

  i wonder, what do atheists believe about death?

  do you believe in any way that a 'spirit' lives on?

  As much as I rail against religions and everything I do believe that there is an afterlife. I've got my own reasons and everything but even though I have a very hard time believing in a god, I believe there's more out there after we die than we know about.
  As for Runningman's views, I don't really share them about an afterlife but do find it very liberating and inspriring knowing how we have evolved from single celled organisms over millions of years. That's what really makes me feel lucky. I also draw from that the conclusion that the purpose of life is to live. What else do you need?

  an interesting situation happened to me yesterday.

  i used to work for a company that employed about 30+ jw's of.

  i always kept in touch with the non-jw co-workers, and when i left, i began sending.

  Or just go the rout that I myself would go. Tell her yes, you're celebrating. Hiding it only implies that there's something wrong with it when there's not. I may be able to understand if you have family in but if you don't then what are you going to lose?

  Stupid instruction manual

  i got a new dvd player for christmas.

  when i tried to hook it up i coudln't figure it out so i thought i'd actually use the instruction manual.

  as it turns out the manual was written in a foreign country by people who don't understand english at all, was translated from japanese, into spanish, into greek, into french and finally into english.

  I got a new DVD player for Christmas. When I tried to hook it up I coudln't figure it out so I thought I'd actually use the instruction manual. As it turns out the manual was written in a foreign country by people who don't understand english at all, was translated from Japanese, into Spanish, into Greek, into French and finally into English. Not only that but it was translated by people who would want to slant the translation for their own personal goals. So anyways, once I start reading it I was hoping to just read where which wire went where but instead I at first had to read the instructions for the older machine which isn't really relevant anymore because of the CHRomium ISolation Technology that was recently developed. On top of all of it, I just wanted to know where to stick which wire which should be simple enough. No, instead I get a book that will only speak in symbolism and give me vague promises of what the next generation of DVD players will be like. Also, there were parts that were totally contradictory and others that were just plain wrong.
  Is it just me or does anyone else think that if that were true you'd demand that the store you got this from give you a refund so you could get a new DVD player? Somehow though, people will put up with all of that hassle to believe in the bible. Yet another reason why I don't believe in it myself.......
  Just for the record, anyone who knows me can tell you that little story isn't about me. I'm a total technology geek. I've had a DVD player for years. Not only that but I've also got complete surround sound and have my house set up so that I can pop a DVD in the player in the living room and watch it on any TV in the house. I can also watch a VHS movie, listen to a CD, cassette tape, LP, through any TV in my house. BTW, any TV in my house can be used to see what is currently on my computer monitor. The coolest thing though is how I can control all the lighting here from my computer and/or my remote control. All of it, in the typical male fashion, while never reading the manuals!

  most religions out there have this thing against witnesses.

  many will do anything to get them banned or to shut their mouths.

  thank you for the warm welcome i received when i made my first post last week.

  it is a beautiful christmas day here,more like early autumn than the beginning of winter.

  so i was a little surprised when i drove by my old kingdom hall a little after 9:00 am and saw that there were no cars parked in the lot----no one had met for field service.

  After opening presents at our house yesterday morning we went over to my wife's parents. Here in town my old cong. is right off one of the busiest roads in town and we drove by on the way about 10am and the lot looked pretty busy. I'd say probally about 10 or 20 cars were there.

Watch for future postings concerning this because soon my friend Shawn who is also apostate and I are going to be having pictures of miracles that he has performed as well probally some sides of Jesus you've never seen before. Should be fun.....

  Unexpected elder visit

  last week i asked for advice for a relative who had left her husband.. well, yesterday the elders called on her, in her new place, in another congregation's territory, so her husband must have given them her address.. she thought it was the mailman, so opened the door, surprised to see the elders.

  she told them this was not a good time, and one said "can we come back later?

  so he says, "are your refusing to meet with the elders, then?

  Sometimes I go to a meeting.

  sometimes i go to a meeting...usually when the co visits in case they actually say something of interest.

  the reason i go occasionally is to validate my decision to leave 2 hours at the meeting is enough to convince any normal person with a brain that it is not the truth.. i went this morning.

  it was the same old drivel are your stressed or discouraged?

  I have a few pieces of the moon in my living room in the form of lunar meteorites. None are glass beads. Some have glass veins in them from shock metamorphism but that's all. Once again, this is why religion shouldn't enter science and vice-versa. BTW, I've got my nicest one for sale. $2,200 for .54 grams of moon rock. :)

  ELDERS JUST HERE, and now I'm

  confused.

  was in the middle of sending out some last minute "seasons greetings," cards.

  any way, he spoke of the events of the last year, how they were significant, about the brothers going to the trade center and offering comfort from the scriptures, while priests and ministers only offered water and towels, and about the change in subscription arrangement.

  Just because someone has good intentions doesn't mean that they can help. If you had to have brain surgery and there were two people there to do it whou would you want to do it, your spouse who loves you and needs you in their life but is a farmer or a trained brain surgeon who is known as being the best in the field but has never met you? Just the same, do you want someone who has got their training from the JW's to help guide your life? They're a load of friggin idiots.
