So, Are YOU Better Off Than You Were A Few Years Ago In Your Life?
by minimus inis your life better off as a witness or exjw now than before?.
is your life better off in the last few years economically?.

I haven't fully left yet, but now that I am fading I have been less stressed out and happier. The mental anguish I felt if I didn't go out in service or give my all to "God's Organization" no longer exists. I am now finding friends that are not conditional towards my beliefs. I am looking forward to actually celebrating me and my wife's birthdays this upcoming year.

Watchtower Dishonesty
by Vanderhoven7 injust re-discovered this gem:.
"it is a matter of fact that the history of the watchtower society is riddled with failed date-setting and abandoned doctrine,1 and the society has gone to great lengths to hide this past from its members.
older (incriminating) watchtower publications are virtually impossible to obtain through the society,2 while at the same time members are overwhelmed with "current" watchtower material.. the watchtower society has even gone as far as to publish disinformation about its own history in an attempt to convince readers that watchtower doctrine has remained consistent over the years, and that the society is not a false prophet.

They STILL might be DFing me soon for apostasy...
by RayPublisher inbig news - i met with the elders last night.
they were not arrogant and they were not mean spirited, but of course we all know they also would not budge from the jw brainwashed beliefs they are sworn to uphold.
i let my light shine, and within two minutes of sitting down with them was no longer nervous.. .

Awesome, im praying for ya!
One thing I have noticed in most of these judicial committee recordings on the net is the lack of discussion regarding the Faithful and Discreet slave appointment of 1919. Seems to me that this is one of the easiest and detrimental subjects to discuss, maybe when I have my own JC one day i'll try to go straight for the jugular.

Sympathy for the (Devil),, I Mean Governing Body
by frankiespeakin in.
should we feel some sympathy for the governing body?
after all they have taken on thr reins of power over a corporation that has very bad,, dead end business stradagy based on a dellusional idea that the end of the world would come based on dates found or imagined in the bible,, a book about ancient deity worship with all its superstition about what make him angry and mad.. they have bought into this dellusion with their heart and soul,,they stand to loss big time now that the internet is here,, the internet is their satan and his demons on the net are taking aim..

These guys live like kings and rockstars. For them to be honest or humble they would lose that status and comfort. I don't have sympathy for people who live in arrogance and ignorance.

How Would You Answer...?
by EmptyInside ini'm wondering what to reply to someone who said the main message of the "truth" is the same.
that jehovah is god and he sent his only-begotten son to die for us,so that,we could have everlasting life on earth.. the rest of the changes don't really matter to them.
that witnesses are the only religion to teach this and the only ones preaching it.

Im in the same boat with Zid. My response would come off so apostate I would expose myself immediately. Just acknowledge and mention that the Society's understanding of "Truth" goes far beyond those simple sentences.

Did guilt force you into relationships with negative or selfish people?
by HelpMeBelieve inhow much force did guilt play into your relationships with other witnesses?
we wasted so much of our lives chasing things that are not real, love that was highly conditional and relationships with people that evaporated once we started to fade away.. .
i would force myself to talking with nutty brothers who seemed to be "short their rent each month, never able to catch up".

*face palm* I kept thinking friendship instead of relationship* when reading the topic of this thread...I drank a 5 hour energy and read the subject way too fast.

Jesus invisible presence in 1914, what purpose did it serve?
by jam inwhy did jesus arrive invisible?
what is he supposedly to do.
for mankind since 1914?
-
Emery
I find it rather humorous and convenient that the WTS was invisibly chosen by an invisible Jesus. Yet, most of the accounts in the bible where God approves, appoints, or anoints somebody its quite visible or audible to crowds/nation of people.

Post 666: Revelation--Its Grand Climax in 70 AD
by Londo111 inrevelation is the most misunderstood and misused book of the bible.
the branch davidians and other cults used revelation with deadly results.
fundamentalists have used it to prognosticate a future where the antichrist and his one world government mark people with microchips or barcodes during a seven year tribulation.
-
Emery
I don't think Londo111's views are unreasonable. I did hear a good lecture on the history and background of Revelation by Bart Ehrman and I think he had a lot of interesting things to say about it. He mentioned that there are early manuscripts that have been discovered where "616" instead of "666" is written. I do think the author of Revelation was writing for an audience of Christians during that time period, not 2000 years later or in relation to some wacky 1914 generation ;p
Also, reading other apocalyses such as the apocalyse according to Peter, Paul, and Abraham has muddied up the waters for me when it relates to the inspiration and authenticity of such books.
