a while back we had a thread on the wonders of duct tape.
it is some handy stuff and every household should have a roll.
it so happened that my daughter's doctor had just called me to suggest using duct tape to clear up the warts on her fingers.

Princess and All--
Princess: Sorry your little one had to go through the trial and error of traditional wart treatment. I know it was painful for her and costly.
I heard about this study a few months ago, on NPR (I think). I think this is a great idea, especially for kids. Anyone who has had cryotherapy knows it's painful. Paring and scraping w/ cryotherapy is even worse, not to mention Bleomycin injections. UGH! OTC treatments take forever.
Hopefully the link above works, it leads to an article about the wart/duct tape study.

RE: MJ's nose---
Michael's nose appears to be taped, ala post rhinoplasty. After a "nose job" the surgeon will tape the nose before applying the splint. Sometimes, if it's just a minor repair or a very, very simple closed rhino the doc will tape only. The tape stabilizes the nose and provides a "base" of sorts for the splint.
In my opinion, personal and professional, Michael should have left well enough alone after the first procedure. Why any surgeon would agree to continue to work on him is beyond me.

like carl olof jonsson, this is the first time i have ever written to this forum.
i have decided to do so, however, because i am saddened at what bill bowen has chosen to do in reference to ray franz.
let me say that i given bill full marks for publicizing an issue child abuse and the watchtower cover up of it and for taking a stand that has cost him a great deal personally.
Jim,
Truly a pleasure to see you here. Your comments are very much appreciated, but mostly I just wanted to say hello and I hope you are doing well.

has anybody on the forum ever had a hysterectomy?
i am getting one this winter.
i am scared shitless.
Hi Rob!!
No hysterectomy, yet. But I guarantee you if I start again with the same problems that lead to my first D&C about three years ago and then a D&C under general about 1 year ago, I'm game. Either a hysterectomy or ablation. I don't want to go through the monthy misery NOT having one would mean.
BTW, how's the knee mending?

could you please take a few minutes to answer the following questions:.
1. your age.
2. how long were you a witness.
Age: 40
# of years in: 26
# of years out: 6
symptoms: depression, low self-esteem, anxiety
symptoms still experienced: depression and anxiety, intermittently
Definately much more happy
many wives of ministerial servants or elders wear no makeup( not that you have to), wear dowdy clothhes, are overweight; why?
jealousy of the more well kept women.
are there any wives of servants or ex-servants, elders' wives of ex-elders's wives lurking here?
I also agree with Mulan. The contest atmosphere was prevelent in every congregation I was ever in. The congregation I grew up in was pretty poor and nearly all the sisters did home sewing, keeping themselves tastefully dressed. I and most of my peers always had new dresses for assemblies and the memorial made from patterns reflecting the latest styles. Though I must admit some choices were made based solely on the Witness lifestyle. Many of the types of clothing I used to wear have no place in my wardrobe now.
And yes, some people are just dowdy, and would be regardless of what religion they were.
RN---who was once called "Jezebel" because of wearing two bracelets on the same arm.
this is just an update on an earlier post about jw youth dies in car crash.
long story short, he was killed when his car struck a pole because he fell asleep at the wheel.
his father had recently kicked him out of the house (he was only 18) becuase he was missing meetings.
Amen Scully!
Oddly enough, the worst things that happened to me, all happened while I was an exemplary JW, at the hands of other JW's.
I look back at my life and see that every major life event, good or bad, was overshawdowed and "ruined" because of direct interference of JW's or being required to implement some JW policy.
Add to that the laughable attitude, if your successful as a JW-- God's blessing; successful when your out--Satan's blessing. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

currently i am unofficially da.
everyone will talk to me if i run into them but they don't try to get in contact with me or see me.
i live in a rural area on one of the main roads so they will see my house.
The first year I put up a tree, it had been at least a year since anyone had been by for a "visit". As I wound Xmas lights around the porch banister I had the thought that "no one's been by in a year or so, now they'll probably show up." And you know what, they did about 2 weeks later. Lights along the porch banister and the tree in clear view when the front door opened. They commented on it to my husband but then told him that we couldn't be disfellowshipped for celebrating Xmas. That was in 1997.

yesterday every body that volunteers in the nursery got a pamphlet on various policies that apply to us.
this is the complete text of the section on reporting abuse.. .
if a volunteer suspects a child has been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused or neglected, occ staff must be notified immediately.
Yes I agree, quite normal.
Of note: (1) everyone who works in the nursery received a copy of this policy (2) The policy spells out what to do (3) the policy spells out what not to do.
So amazingly simple, right there in black & white, a single paragraph that can be understood by anyone. No complex, convoluted rules or reasoning. No "researching" of dozens of articles to get the correct "reasoning" on the matter. No reading between the lines.
But has the WTS figured it out yet? Of course they haven't!
Thanks for sharing Jeff.
