he gave it to me after i told him i no longer wanted to study with the jw's, in part because of their failed predictions and doctrinal changes.. .

if so, how did you feel about it once you came out of the cult and figured out that everything you'd been taught about the new system coming soon, and loved ones being resurrected was a big fat lie you'd been spoonfed?

Hmmm.. good point. But I still cannot concieve of a loving God who would allow you to be further tortured. It just doesn't compute. So that leaves two possibilities: Either there is no loving God, in which case, you don't have to worry about a new system where your father will reside, or if there is a God, he would somehow make it to where you no longer had to be afraid, and there would be no threat from your father or anyone else. Simple logic.

Hmmmmm.. Waiting, my sympathies for your pain. I was thinking as I read your post, and wondering. You know that rape is wrong in God's eyes (supposing there IS a God and that he gives a damn), so why would you think that he would allow your father to even BE in his new system? Or your mother too, for that matter? I would think it would be obvious that if they were that wicked, they wouldn't be around in a "holy" new system. Just a thought.

What's the big deal?
by MuzicmanCa ini am just going to play devil's advocate here for a second since i need help reasoning something out again.
i think i have the answer, but i just need to do this outloud and hear some responses to make sure i am clear on this particular issue.. i remember once, when i first came across a lengthy write-up on the faulty reasoning the wts used to come up with the whole 1914 thing, i was having dinner with an older bro who, at the time, was a very close friend of mine.
i asked him directly just how valid the date was and if what i was reading on the internet had any credibility.

I guess what is in my mind, is that the entire religion is based on lies. Lots of them. And control. Megabucks worth. If they admit that the base of the religion was built entirely on shifting sand, and that approx 80% or more of their doctrine is all built on falsehoods, who do you think would stay? And, legally, they would be opening themselves up to billions of dollars in lawsuits, for all the people who have died due to their false prophesying and unbiblical rules, not to mention their gestapo tactics of enforcing those rules.
