CourtTV - A JW Case

last night (9:30pm est), courttv did a story of a woman who left home when she was a teenager.. she got involved with drugs and prostitution.. she soon gave birth to a child.. she stopped using drugs and quit being a prostitute and took up a job as a waitress.. she now gave birth to a son.. fast forward six years.... she began studying with jehovah's witnesses.. she was applying for something (maybe welfare, i'm not sure.

i ran to use the bathroom during the commercials and when i came back out the narrator had already said what she was trying to apply for).. the narrator said that whatever she was applying for required that she disclose who the father is and explain why she is not collecting child support.. the father of her son was a married police officer who had an established family and a distinguished career.. she consulted the elders as to what she should do.

they told her that she needs to be honest and that she shouldn't lie on the application.. so, she set up a meeting with the baby's daddy (the cop).

I read this post. I am appalled at the elders insensitivity to this dangerous situation and their "holier than thou" attitudes.

I have been a JW since I was 14; I am now 45. My years in the JW organization has taught me many lessons. Regarding this story, here is the lesson to learn:

DO NOT GO TO THE ELDERS WITH YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS OR PROBLEMS. THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF HANDLING THEIR OWN PERSONAL BUSINESS OR PROBLEMS.

PRAY TO JEHOVAH AND CONSULT ONLY A CLOSE TRUSTED FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER. AND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE, MAKE THE DECISION YOURSELF.

This JW is dead because of the very bad elder "advise" she received.

Many on this post may not agree with my comments, but so be it.

I have seen to much garbage and stupidity going on in the organization.

I think this entire case going to court is stupid.

If people do not want JW's/us knocking at their doors, I feel they have a right to say so.

The Watchtower is using their political clout and power to oppress persons. Jesus did not oppress people. If they did not want to hear the Bible's message, he left them alone.

The Watchtower Organization needs to re-read the gospel accounts.

Domestic Dilemma

Ok, I have been married for only eight (8) years but my husband and I have worked together on construction sites and he is a self-employed sub-contractor. He has many tools. I do not touch them, but he uses my tools sometimes. (Laugh) So I understand your need to have your tools left along.

Tell your wife with humor and laughter " honey, my tools are very tempermental. They like to stay in their places until I move them. My tools get mad at me and act like they do not want to work if they are moved by anyone but me. I mean, my screw drivers, my saws, my cordless guns, my bits, my hammers-they seem to buckle and not work when someone else moves them.Somehow, when they are all mixed up they seem to thrive on working well for me on my jobs and projects. But I really thank you and appreciate your tidiness."

How's that response?

Did U find Sheperding Calls rude?

reading the lb thread "home but hiding" struck a chord with me.. i remember when i was inactive for the period of about a year the elders made a few "sheperding calls".. did anyone else out there find these very rude and condescending?.

first of all, in my case at least they always showed up unannounced.

how much do you think those "hell-ders" would like it if someone randomly dropped by their house unexpected?

Hi:

When I was single I only got a shepherding call if I asked for one
or if the CO visit was near. It was always about increase your time.

My husband and I have been married for 8 years now and we have only received shepherding calls when the Elders wanted to tell us what to do or think they should.

I always set the conditions on our shepherding calls. The elders did not like it, but I did not care. If you come to my house to do a shepherding call, only elders I felt comfortable with could come. And I did not get dressed up in a dress or skirt. I dressed casually and wore my house slippers or sneakers. (As far as I was concerned, they were on my "turf", so therefore they were going to "do as the Romans do", or do not bother coming by.

Also, if they could not prove anything from the Bible, I let them know do not talk to me.

Very rarely did I ever have a good feeling when they came or left. They just talked a lot of Watchtower JW jargon.

I had to set them straight with the Bible almost on each occasion. It's amazing how the elders do not know their Bible, just Watchtower
magazines (mind controlled) jargon.

They need to shepherd themselves.

ANOINTED Jehovah Witness has no doubt,

hello, i am new to this website, but have to be straightforward and say that i do not agree with most subjects and contents.

i am an active jehovah witness, but i am very lonely so i am looking for others with the "hope" or to speak to those that know someone that does.

it has been a long , hard road for me.

Hi:

I really do not know if you are of the anointed or not. There are many persons not JW's who are of the anointed and we just do not know. So I am not going to guess.

However, if you are truly of the anointed I do not believe you would be conversing on this site. You will find less doubt on this site and more honest conversation and viewpoints than at the Kingdom Hall. You may be trying to say you have no doubts, but maybe deep down inside you do.

You will find out for yourself in due time.

Did you ever fake field service?

i know this was very wrong to do , but who out there stretched their field service time by any means possible?

example, letter writing, driving by the same house , when you knew no one was home.

let's be honest here, confess and get it off your chest.... lol

Hi:

Here's my story:

I do not report my field service time. The elders over two (2)years ago talked to me about not reporting my time. I told them that if they could not show me scripturally where it states I must report the time I personally spend talking to others about Jehovah God, they had know basis to demand same.

They quoted the well known scripture that Jesus' followers reporting back to him all the things they had seen and heard. I responded that's right, not time.

They agreed they could not find a scripture to support their demands. I told them when they could let me know.

Needless to say, they could not and never did.

After one (1) more try to get me to report my time, they gave up.

My personal feeling is: Jehovah God and Jesus Christ knows what time I spend in my life talking to persons about the Bible. That is enough.

Case Closed.

MR BIGGS:

I am stating my opinion, not necessarily judging. Only Jehovah and Jesus Christ can do that.

But her death could have been prevented. It was not an "unforseen" occurrence because someone, if not the elders, other pubishers could have given this faithful sister of 20+ years a ride home. That's my final word.

TO OLD HIPPIE:

I spoke to an elder in my congregation and he agreed that she should not have been taking the bus home at night by herself. It could have been that even if she was independent, loving elders or others in the cong on a regular basis could have said: "sister, please let us drive you home. We know you can go by yourself, but we really care about you and want to see you get home safely". No matter how independent a person is, seeing the brothers true concern and love may move one to say "ok, thanks very much. I accept".

So, I am not "throwing stones", but even Christ told the "John" to look after his mother after his death.

The brothers and especially the elders must look after ones in the congs and especially our older ones and make sure they have, as can be possible, a safe haven home from the meetings.

Jehovah and Jesus Christ expects that type of shepherding for their "sheep".

So, I still do not excuse this cong or their elders.

Her death could possibly have been avoided.

This is really sickening.

The so-called "spiritual" elders and friends in the congs allowed this faithful sister in the cong for approx 20 years to take the bus home in this terrible crime ridden area by herself.

The truth is maybe if someone drove her home she would be alive today.

This was not unforseen. It could have been prevented by caring elders and friends in the cong. (However, there were none that night).
