I think they should get life for what they have done to so many people.

some of the stupidest witnesses are elders.
i've known more than a few that were basically "nice guys" but as dumb as a stump!
some never knew when to keep quiet and the other elders always had to cover for them.
I think they should get life for what they have done to so many people.

what scripture will probably never be read in the kh or quoted in the watchtower?
for obvious reasons!
i'll start with honesty's contribution: .
John 5 v 30
I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative.........................because I seek not my own will but the will of him that sent me.

with the interest in racial / religious hatred laws.
(im talking about the laws that exist or soon will do in the u.k) i wonder if some of the magazines that we have seen over many years could be viewed as breaking this law.. to name just a few of the points.
encouraging their members to shun ones, who may for various reasons, have stopped going to their place of worship.by inciting their members to view these ones as "apostates", and thereby doomed to die at armageddon.

Are similar Laws in force in other countries?

in all the years i was a jw, although i had many acquaintances, i only had 3 really close friends.
two of them are no longer jws.
one is trev, who is obviously a lot more than a friend to me now, and my friend marion left the wts a few months ago, with a lot of encouragement from me.. my other friend is still very much a jw, and when i was announced as no longer a jw last year, she phoned me to tell me how very upset and disappointed she was.
Linda,
It's got to be one of the most disgracfull acts of so called "christianity" that the witnesses perform, Some even getting some sought of a kick out of it, thingking they are pleasing God if they do this, would Christ have acted like this, DID he act like this, NO.
With the help of Trevor you will get past this.

Hello Paul,
Good that you have internet access again. You asked if anything exciting had happened, well just take a look at all of the newbies posting - its amazing how many are coming out of the JWs.
We (myself and wife who posts as Twinkletoes) are based in Herefordshire.
Linda (fullofdoubt)
Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding next year, we hope that all goes well for both of you. Just one problem though, is Trevor marrying out of his class? (you being an emperor and all that)
Perhaps we will all meet up again for the Apostanoodle in Birmingham

In a Watchtower question and answer session a few years ago. Isaiah 32 v 1-3 came up. At that time there was 8 elders in the congregation, this was roughly my answer -
You have been travelling in the desert for days, you are at death's door, you look down from a high point to see 8 crags in the valley below, you muster up your last ounce of strength to get to these crags and places of refuge, only to find that these crags were just mirages !
This is what the elders were - mirages, they looked good from a distance but when you got closer they had no substance at all. How easily we can be deceived.
How many of you found that your "crags in the desert" turned out to be "mirages" ?

i'm sure this question has been asked before .
i've come a long way in my thinking.
a very long way!
The simple answer - like the majority have said is NO.
They portrayed something that all of us at the beginning really wanted - paradise, living forever etc. But there are times when we may feel somewhat depressed when we might consider to ourselves - why god allowed us to stay in that religion, some of us for many, many years when it is obvious now that the Org is so far removed from God
I'm sure that many of you have heard the illustration, but for the sake of all the newbies here it is again
A man fell over a cliff and grabbed a branch on the way down. His shouting brought help from above, they threw him a rope to rescue him, but he shouted out - no, I put my trust in God, they then sent a boat to the base of the cliff again to rescue him, but he said - no, I put my trust in God. They then sent a helicopter as usual this man of faith, said no I put all my trust in God. With that the branch broke and he fell to his death - when he arrived in heaven, he asked God, why didn't you save me, I put all my trust in you. And God said, I sent a rope, a boat and a helicopter to save you but you ignored them.
The moral of this tale - did we see all the signs (about the Organisation) and did we refuse to take any notice ?
In my case (I was in the Org. for over 30 years) I was guilty of ignoring the many signs that came along.

when those of you were still jw's what was the first thing that began to open your eyes to the emptiness of jw church?
what spoke to your heart about the truth?
Welcome Wendy,
For me it was the complete domineering ways of the elders when dealing with the "ordinary" brothers and sisters and their total lack of spiritual common-sense, and in some cases extreme harshness by some two-faced elders. To top it all - how glibly and easily they would lie when cornered.

Math. 7 v 21.
Not everyone saying to me "Lord Lord" will enter into the kingdom of the heavens but the one doing the will of my father who is in the heavens will.
