one thing jws do, and especially elders, is counsel people.

everything is all about setting a person straight.

even bible students are conditioned to be counseled and to do the same toward any that ask them questions as to what they believe.

I always didn't measure up, according to the "glorious Ones" there was a time - one of many - when ...

The Kingdom ministry sheet suggested using "good readers" for the Watchtower, this did not say the BEST readers, the Glorious Ones put their own interpretation on this subject and decided that "only three of the existing readers were officially taken off reading, I questioned this counsel which obviously got into a heated situation where the circuit overseer got involved, the long and short of it was that they had to make a public apology to the congregation because of the absurdity of what then when on i.e. brothers not reading the the groups but sisters reading over and above brothers..... all visitors to the groups were extremely confused as to what was going on.

This is the point, this is where I was counselled... we had a Watchtower item regarding the book of Ezekiel where it spoke of "fat shepherds" - in my WT answer I substituted the words Fat Shepherds for the appropriate name FAT ELDERS, then went on to relate what they had done... Within two minutes of arriving home from the meeting I was summond to a meeting with elders, my comment was "why have you not gone thro' Matthew chapter.5 and 18. the correct procedure to deal with things. Their answer - ..This was too serious !!!! As you have read they had to make an UNRESERVED APOLOGY for the way that they handled the situation.

This is one small point - I could write a book on this subject !

Mean things that Elders have done

it was during the drought when alberta and sask were in bad shape for hay.my husband was promised 100 bales (this was before the drought).when my husband was ready for the hay the elder said he couldnt have any ,in the field there were trucks picking up hay which he sold for double the price.so here we were with no promised hay to feed 32 horses.does anyone else have a story?

As a 60 year old brother, with 30 years in the Org. I damaged my back which turned out to be an exploded disk, I was literally on my back for four months recovering. When I eventually went back to the meetings, I was taken off the "privilege" of carrying the microphones because of an "inconsistent" field service record ! When I approached the elders to discuss this they said it was a ministerial servant who had taken me off - I approached this brother and showed him this blatant lie. As we all know (in the Org) ministerial servants are not privvy to the hours reported, and it certainly wasn't in this case. When elders were confronted by myself, they did there usual trick of ignoring the matter but not correcting it.

This is just a small snippet - like most of you of this forum, I could write a book about the lies, conduct and unchristian acts that they do in the name of Jehovah

? about the United Nations and WTS

does anyone know if a letter from the wts has been sent to the congregations about their being a member of the un as an ngo?

or has it just been told to the elders and then the rank and file hear about it if they ask the elders?

i know the wts said it was to get a library card but i need to know if there was actually a public announcement to the congregations about it..

Hello Toreador and Scrubmaster - welcome !

My wife and I wrote to the Society (London Bethel) and to the local Body of Elders requesting information regarding the UN involvement, when we first read about it the The Guardian newspaper, approx 2 years ago. They refused to answer even though we showed them documented evidence (letter written to us from the UN etc.) This resulted in our letter of resignation from the Organisation, (we were in for over thirty years) and there subsequent disfellowshipping of us (although we were never told we were disfellowshipped, we are being shunned by the congregation!). We wrote letters and photocopied the evidence and sent it to "so-called friends" but not one of them has responded even though they had all the evidence before them, that took us many months to accrue.

i guess that some parts to the cultish religion are hard to shake off.

simply put, i still worry that maybe i'm wrong.

(i still wouldn't want to live in a new world with those idiots, even if they were right).

I don't want to ever forget, I want to make sure that I never fall for any of the brainwashing and lies perpertrated by The Org.again.

We have been out for about a year, and understand fully how you are feeling. You will get plenty of help on this forum, and to re-iterate what has already been said many times, Ray Franz's Crisis of Conscience, will certainly help you from time to time.

For the last three years I joined the GOQs (Get Out Quickly), because of the hypocrisy that we were coming across every week.

How Many Here Are DF'd, Disassociated Or Not Worried That They Might?

i'm curious as to whether the majority of the board's disfellowshipped.

and i'm curious as to whether or not push came to shove, that you would not be overly distressed if you did wind up getting df'd........as time goes on, i am caring less.

We (KT & Twinkletoes) have recently had our marching orders, not for anything that we had done wrong but for questioning the Society's viewpoint and handling of UN involvement, 607BCE & other failed prophecies, handling of paedophilia and the Society's U Turn on blood. It took two elders six months NOT to answer our letter, so we gave them a further two weeks to answer, failing that we requested that our names be removed from all JW records.

We made it quite clear in our last letter to the elders, that in no way, any inference regarding our christian principles, or negative remarks were to be made from the platform regarding our religious beliefs which we still hold dearly. We are now being shunned even though APPARENTLY no public announcement was made! Because of this we will be letting you all know in the next week, what our letter consisted of.

Yes, in that case we are DA'd, and glad to be out from them (after 30 years each)

Have You Ever Written A Letter To the Society?

when i was a kid, i remember my family regularly visiting other friends, including a brother that was the bible study servant.

every week, he would send a different letter to the society on a variety of subjects.

when our families would meet, he would ask us the question and we would do research or give our opinion on what we thought the society's answer was going to be.

Over the years, we have written quite a number of letters, foolishly thinking that they would sort out problems in the congregation. Even at one point charging the elders with perjury, In response to one letter, we had a personal visit from the District and Circuit Overseers, telling us that they were going to deal with the matter. We showed to them that we had very little confidence in their statement, and we were proved to be right. as usual the guilty ones are still up on the platform.

Six months ago we sent a very long letter to the Society, (which in due course, we will publish on this forum) asking the answers to UN involvement, Handling of Paedophilia cases, False and failed prophecies, U-Turn on Blood etc. To date we still have not had any acknowledgement whatsoever from the Society.

As you can appreciate, we have to be tight-lipped at this point.
