i think they know what they don't believe in, like no blood, no hellfire, no trinity....but they really couldn't explain what their beliefs are and why they believe as they do.
do you agree?

sometime ago a friend of mine was very surprised when i did tell him about the many changes concerning the resurrection of the men from sodom and gomlorrah.
he didn't want to accept just the statements i.e.
yes/no + publication + date, so to make him a much happier person i did send him this:
*** Ezekiel 13:8-9 ***
Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord Jehovah has said: "‘For the reason that YOU men have spoken untruth and YOU have visioned a lie, therefore here I am against YOU,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah." And my hand has come to be against the prophets that are visioning untruth and that are divining a lie. In the intimate group of my people they will not continue on.
*** Psalms 107:27 ***
They reel and move unsteadily like a drunken man, And even all their wisdom proves confused.
*** Galatians 2:18 ***
For if the very things that I once threw down I build up again, I demonstrate myself to be a transgressor.
*** James 1:7, 8 ***
In fact, let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from Jehovah; 8 he is an indecisive man, unsteady in all his ways.
could it be that the proximity of 2014 is at the heart of it?.
i have no contact with jw's - except on this board - but my wife does at times with her family.
imminent is the cry of the sky for the jw's it seems.. i recall the years leading up to 1975 with a lot of that sort of thing.
*** w64 3/1 pp. 143-144 par. 1 Youth, Get Saved from This Crooked Generation ***
"What makes these the grandest of times in which to be alive with all the vigor and promise of youth is that there is now imminent a vaster change in man’s way of life than that resulting from the deluge of Noah’s day. That great transformation of earthly conditions, however, will not come about without first our earth’s experiencing “great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now.” (Matt. 24:21) Happy will those be who survive that tribulation and live to enjoy the peace and happiness that will replace the present chaotic way of life."

...drink a lot?
gosh i love wine.
i like a good bottle of wine each night, and i have a high tolerance to alcohol, though i never drank much (except for a couple of times with the vodka, but i don't keep that stuff in the house anymore, way too dangerous) as a jw because getting slightly happy is a 'sin'.
I seem to be going against popular opinion, but that does seem a little excessive to me.
What's the recommended guidelines for women and alcohol?
I love good wine too, but I save it for the weekends and special events, occasionally a glass in the week.
Forgive me for saying, but if keeping a bottle of vodka in the house is 'dangerous', do you think you have a difficulty with alcohol?

i'm not asking for anyone to build me a billion dollar resort hotel in upstate new york or anything.
you don't have to give me tens of thousands of dollars in free labor.. all i'm asking for is visit my page.
Self advertising. Cute.
he's a very good man and recognizes his limitations.
he still dislikes field service and considers himself inferior to the other elders.
he has almost no contact with his disfellowshipped older son.
Self doubt, inferiority and unworthiness are the trademark traits of a JW.
remember, you read it here first!.

so, service meeting last night.
bro handling the "false prophet" part was notably disturbed.
every time he spoke of previous "expectations" his body language was like "oh my god, can you believe i'm saying this?
I pointed out that even though the Reasoning Book listed 1914 as 'one of the doctrines that has never changed', it has actually changed, having previously been 1874. Naughty Reasoning Book. Splash
it isn't much, only a small piece on page 23 of sunday's sun newspaper .
for our colonial cousins the sun is a highbrow , well respected national daily newspaper , well national daily anyway .
on sunday it printed a small article about what it describes as a jehovah's witness paedophile whose sex crimes had been hushed up by his church .
Weekly readership figures as of May 2013 (not including web hits) for papers which carried this story:
The Sun - 12.8 million newspapers
Daily Mail - 9.5 million newspapers
Daily Mirror - 7 million newspapers
Number of people who read and remembered this story one day later - 1 savant and the population of JWN.

at one time jws were issued minister identification cards such as the s-65 in which it is officially stated that the bearer "is a representative of the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania.. now, the watchtower specifically tells the publishers not to say they are representatives of the watchtower!.
when did this 180 degree change take place?.
here is the text that appears on the front of the s-65 "minister identification card.".
*** km 2/89 pp. 3-4 Our Identification as Jehovah’s Witnesses ***
As ministers of the good news, we are known publicly as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Our voluntary participation in the field service is motivated by love of God and neighbor. It is not carried on at the insistence of any man or organization but is according to our God-given commission to preach the “good news” and make disciples. (Matt. 24:14; 28:19, 20) Therefore, publishers do well to avoid representing themselves as agents or representatives of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc., or any other corporation used by “the faithful and discreet slave” to advance Kingdom interests.—Matt. 24:45-47.
In case of an accident or an emergency or if problems are encountered while working trailer parks, apartments, or certain other territory, publishers may need some form of personal identification beyond giving their name along with a brief Scriptural explanation of the nature of our religious work. If questioned, or when asked for credentials, baptized publishers may use the identification card (S-65) signed by the presiding overseer, which shows one is preaching the good news of the Kingdom in association with the local congregation named on the card.
A supply of identification cards (S-65), which may be issued to baptized publishers when there is a need, will be included with the annual shipment of congregation forms. If any publishers use a personal name card in connection with their field service activities, they should not print thereon that they are representatives of the Watchtower Society.
