  My DA was announced

  my mole inside just e-mailed me that it was announced from the podium that i've disassociated myself.

  funny thing though.

  one of the girls that we took to maui a few years ago just called to invite us to her wedding.

  Good for you LB!!

  This inspires me to think more seriously about it myself. I had a very depressing visit with long time jw friends over the weekend. I've been using the excuse that I want to keep lines of communication open with a few remaining jw friends, but I just wasn't able to say the things I know they needed to hear because I could tell they had their apostate-radar way up. They have to be ready to hear the truth about the truth, if what happened to me isn't enough to make parents of teens (which my friends are) think, I don't know what could.

  PS: I'll be in Maui for Christmas and spring break in late May. I'd love to congratulate you in person in paradise.

  As per the jacksons, I've talked too Rebbie, the oldest sister @ a couple of conv. She was really nice, but very guarded.

  Avishai I had dinner with Rebbie and her husband once, I agree with your perception. Her husband seemed to be a very controling type, I don't think he even made eye contact with me. I just feel sorry for the whole bunch, they have all paid a high price for their fame and crazy JW upbringing.

  Last meeting attended, Memorial 2000.

  Doing the slow fade, I go back and forth on whether I should write my DA letter. I've pretty much given up hope of encouraging any of my former jw friends to leave.

  Hey Perry, the first bookstudy I attended around age 8 was studying the Babylon book, in spanish no less...talk about confusing a little kid!!

  I just feel sorry for him; he's obviously got major mental problems and an obsession with plastic surgery. As a person of color, raised in the jw cult, and close to his age, I can understand how he was made to feel about being black in a white man's religion.

  I attended predominately white congregations and even though they talked up the wonderful diverse brotherhood, there was a lot of racism and bigotry displayed by the rank and file. Also, as with all their efforts to look mainstream and business like, black brothers were encouraged to look as "white" as possible. I was not allowed to wear "ethnic" hairstyles (didn't want anyone to think Angela Davis was knocking at their door). Sounds like a very minor thing, but it screws up your sense of self and makes you feel like there is something inherently wrong with you.

  I'm studying advanced anatomy/physiology and it's hard to sit through hours of discussion about the many details of the human body and how everything works and not wonder....did someone/something design this incredible machine? I'm just not ready to go there again....

  Why did YOU want to live forever??

  what was it about living forever that appealed to you when you were a jw?.

  was it the idea that you'd have all the time in the world to do whatever you wanted to do?

  were you thinking about travelling the world and seeing it all transformed into a paradise?

  I'm with Teenyuck, lions, tigers and bears, wahoo!!...I love animals, people you can keep.

  Plus after my pathetic childhood, never went anywhere or did anything (except field service of course), that's the only thing I had to look forward to....

  I like Dr. Phil, he's cute. He does need to slow down when walking off stage with his petite wife though, he practically drags her off stage with him.

  Seriously, did he ever do a show on exiting cults? There was a poster that claimed to be in communication with his show about her jw/shunning experience...did I miss it?
