Comments you hear at the July 15th WT Study
by LostGeneration inif you still go to the meetings, i'd love to hear how tomorrow's wts goes down.. i'm sure there will be plenty of comments read straight from the paragraph, a few pauses where nobody wants to comment for fear of not getting it right, and a few completely wrong comments from publishers talking out of their a$$e$ trying to look smart.

Simple. Straight to the point. Every family with at least one inactive/DA/DF'd person will be grateful for the potential out if it gets that scary.

I'd say yes with regard to getting them to change, but you did the right thing! For sure, 100% absolutely the best you could have done for your wife. And welcome (from Poland), You will get a lot of positive responses to your post but it will be hard to beat what steve2 said.

What is more important? Money or the message?
by snare&racket inimagine the dilemma..... you have a message to spread, but spreading it may cost you money when selling your property as your message is a little embarassing and weird.... do you paint over it and secure the sale or leave it be and stand by your message in the hope it saves even one more life?.
it really isn't the same religion i grew up in!
people have died defending and spreading that message from brooklyn, a message that they would now paint over for the sake of a building sale... .

Regarding the lake. If you notice the JW calendar for this year, especially for July/August, you will notice the sailing vessels. This is apparently the only approved mode of transportation besides walking in the new system (maybe horses and elephants). I figure instead of Gilead school they are going to open a school that provides sailing lessons in order to be prepared.

Do You Think The Witnesses Actually Know What They Believe In?
by minimus ini think they know what they don't believe in, like no blood, no hellfire, no trinity....but they really couldn't explain what their beliefs are and why they believe as they do.
do you agree?
-
FadeToBlack
No, I don't think they do. How could they when it keeps changing all the time? Just ask one to explain the overlapping generations thing. Probably a sizeable percentage would not know they even teach that now. You would have to show it to them in their own publications.

I also have a hard time with their use of 'we' in the article. It seems when they say something like 'we thought' they are implying that all JW's had the wrong idea. But, when they say 'we perceived/we discerned' they mean only the GB. I love the logic in this sentence in paragraph 1. - "His words have profound meaning for us because we too are keenly interested in knowing what the future holds". So just because 'we' are interested in knowing what the future holds, his words have profound meaning for us? Really? What if they only applied to the first century? This was also bizarre in Paragraph 4. - "Upon further examination of Jesus’ prophecy, however, we perceived that a part of Jesus’ prophecy about the last days has two fulfillments". So some parts have two fulfillments and some don't?

How can I tell without even looking at the schedule that it is time for the review? My wife decides she is not going to the meeting. She told me earlier this week we had an invitation for dinner/drinks with one of our neighbors down the street. Friday at 6. I didn't say anything, except: "sounds great!" Today she reminded me about it at lunch and just left a few minutes ago to buy some wine for the occasion. So I run back in the house after she leaves to check the KM and sure enough, Review Night! When I was still going, even if I did not know ahead of time, the moment I walked in the hall, I could tell it was review night. Attendance was sparse. I don't understand it! Who would miss an opportunity to read back approved WT answers to questions you never wondered about? And what about the rest of the spiritual feast? Anyone else observe this same lack of appreciation for 'spiritual' provisions from the GB?

My Jimi Hendrix experience
by confusedandalone inas a 13 year old a friend of mine had a jimi hendrix record and told me if we play it backwards that they said words.
he bought the record from a shop not far from where we lived and we were the only family that still had a record player.
so we played the record and i spun it backwards andnothing happened.

Might I suggest his version of 'All along the WatchTower'. "There must be some way out of here" said the joker to the thief ",
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief."

Welcome to the club CA&A (and enjoy that Crown Royal responsibly). I'm only 'inactive' and some friends won't come within 10 ft (3.048m) of me at the KH on the rare occasion I attend. Perhaps we have something contagious!
