So apparently, someone just needs a nice place to chill-out for the occasional weekend.

£1m for a house in Wales - that's nothing compared to £16m in Barnet
by PaulWrightson72 inthe ibsa spent 6m buying two plots of land near wt house and spent another 10m on building and fitting out the flats.
since there are only 15 flats there, that works out at over 1m/flat - and these are 2 bedroom flats only.
similar flats nearby are marketed to the very top of the market.

How *exactly* you and your income are being affected by inequality.

Cog,
Yes, I am suggesting that you move. Not easy to get into Norway, which would be the best (wealth fund from oil). Sweden is possible if you have some needed skill, but perhaps not so easy if you are US citizen. For me, living in Poland as a US citzen with permanent residence card, Sweden would be the best bet. Denmark is very expensive.

Cog,
All the countries you mentioned are much more 'socialist' than the US but would be very high on my list of places to move to if I was younger. Sure taxes are higher, but when you are not paying for the self-appointed world's police force (as in the US), you have a lot more money to use for social welfare. They didn't change, they just never went down that path (in modern history, post WWII). I voted with my feet and we are in one of the currently lighter colored countries on you map (Poland). Wife wants to go back to Canada (for health benefits). Not going back to the states....

Cog,
Unfortunately it is not a problem to be solved. It just has to play out. The only people that could bring about change are those that are benefitting the most from the current system. Are they going to change it? Why? Are the folks at the other end of the spectrum? Not likely. More likely, if they try they will be classified as 'terrorists'.
Sounds a lot like a cult I was associated with for a long time. Only the 'terrorists' were called 'apostates'. Same result. Better just to bail out while you can...

JWs in a frenzy!
by leaving_quietly inanyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

My wife keeps making little aside comments about 100 years since 1914. Not sure how much longer I can resist an appropiate response.

17 calls? Are you kidding me?!?!
by Jon Preston inwell my wife and i still arent attending meetings....we first agreed to go here and there...oops.
anyways we missed the last meeting and suddenly our phone blew up!
it was like 17 missed calls!

Actually, Outlaw - that is not always the case. As they say, YMMV. Recently, even though I no longer attend, I had to change jobs after not getting paid for 3 months and several 'friends' gave us money to get by. In the past, I gave a brother/friend several thousand dollars so he could keep a roof over his children's heads. I didn't ask him to sign any docs as the WTBatS recommends. I guess this is what normal people do too, but I wouldn't know. There are some good people who are still JW's....

women should go back to the kitchen
by never a jw ini found on another thread a quote from awake 1967 aug 22,page 27-28. it's from an article where the wt proves that women should acquiesce to their husbands.
within the article i found something that suggests more intellectual dishonesty from the wt writers.. that it is in the best interests of both.
sexes for man to take the lead is also supported.

For proof, please see the June 2014 Public edition of the WT (God's view of Smoking). Both pic's in the lead article (before husband starts studying and after) show the good wife (blonde) in the kitchen (washing dishes or carrying out fresh baked goodiies). The 'bad girl' with dark hair is smoking. Every picture tells a story (or in the case of the WT teaches a vital lesson)...

Question for active trolley publishers. Are you told not to approach anyone unless they approach you as part of your trolley training?
by KateWild inif you actively do fs on a trolley i would love you to answer this question.
if you don't but know publishers that do can you ask them please.. are you told not to approach anyone unless they approach you as part of your trolley training?.

Yes, but not even attempting eye-contact? That's just bizarre. I spotted my first trolley after starting a new job in Warsaw. They were parked under a billboard that was about 60 ft. tall with a scantily clad beach babe. I was going to get a pic, but it seems like they wised up and moved down a bit.

Hey guys, If I can do it, you can do it. I am without a doubt the most non-assertive, go-along/get-along type of guy on the planet and yet, I don't go to meetings any more, and I am not going to meetings any more. If someone doesn't like it that is their problem. Wife is tolerant and we are actually talking about it. She knows I am not a bad guy. Of course in some ways my situation is easier because I have no other family in the borg. So the shunning tool is useless.
I understand your predicament if you have children and don't want to lose contact with them but you need to develop an exit plan that includes them, even if the wife in not going to cooperate. You might need to take one for the team - be there for your children when they need someone ouside the borg. I regret that I didn't do this myself much earlier. My son (now an adult and not active) does not blame me for raising him in the truth, but it plagues me that I didn't alllow him to experience a normal childhood. I know he would have loved to be involved with team sports.
What a waste...
