On BBC Newsnight a few minutes ago they mentioned that the FBI obviously know more than they are making public at the moment but they appear to believe the plane flew South until it ran out of fuel west of Australia. Even if true, we still don't know why yet

Oscar Pistorious
by LouBelle inis anyone here following what is happening with the trial in south africa.
what are your thoughts?
how are the media handling this?
-
krejames
One thing I've learned is things portrayed in the media are rarely what they seem. Only one person knows what truly happened and that's Pistorious. Glad I'm not the one that has to judge - potentially someone innocent of murder being locked away for life or someone guilty of premeditated murder getting away lightly.

New Article on JW.org about gay people
by ateograciasadios inok, sometimes i go to jw.org just to laugh a bit about the 'food at the proper time', and i would like to know what people think of this hillarious article 'am i attracted to the same sex.
does that mean i am gay?'.
this has to be one of the most remarkable pieces of logic (last paragraph of the article).. the bibles stand is not unreasonable.

This is an older article (I think two or three years old) reposted on website. yes all very politically correct compared to their stance up to the early nineties when you were told to report to an elder if you thought you might be gay. some if their early 70s articles on the topic are so way off it's almost funny until you realise what psychogical effect they must have had on gay bros and sisters at the time.

My mum said, on the subject of UK bethel moving to Essex, that the SocieTy are moving from the cities because they figure if any disaster happens it's most likely to affect the cities. not sure whether she got this from any official source or whether it's just her supposition but does seem to fit the stereotypical cult strategy.

Do you think not having the book study in private homes has had much effect?
by truthseeker init's been a few years since the organization ended the book study arrangement in private homes.. gone was the last opportunity to have tea and biscuits and a natter with the friends afterwards.. do you think people regret losing the book study?
for some, it may have been the only time they were able to get some "associaton".

@ShirleyW: hehe that would figure wouldn't it? Actually she was quite an elderly lady at the time and I think she kind of drifted away from the witnesses and died some years ago. In fact most of the members of that book study group at that time aren't witnesses anymore (unsurpisingly I guess). The ex-spirit medium went back to being a medium, the other sister divorced her husband and I heard she later got disfellowshipped (no idea why, I think she was affected mentally by psychological abuse from her husband).
@Magwitch - I like your cats' style! lol
I agree with those who said it was a big strategic mistake for the book study to be scrapped. I distinctly remember all the talk about the book study groups being the lifeline when the persecution started and then suddenly, out of the blue, it was done away with. It did make it much easier for me to fade.
