In one congregation I was with, they were using unbaptised boys to handle the microphones, something “sisters” are forbidden to do. In another congregation, an unbaptised boy helped operate the sound system - despite being an outright little thug. Still, by virtue of having the correct plumbing, he was permitted to have a certain “privilege” denied all females!

unbaptized boy having priority over women
by enoughisenough ini was thinking about the male children ( even unbaptized ) being placed ahead of the sisters.
; and i thought the jw were raising a bunch of misogynist.
would these kids not feel more important than their mothers let alone other women.

strict control and authoritarianism: the organization is highly centralized, with major decisions being made by the governing body.

Wearing a beard is a major moral failing?
Bloody hell!
CT Russell wore a beard, as did Jesus Christ.

Do we have "original" indipendent documents proving that Rutherford was an alcoholic?
by psyco ini was wondering if you could prove with "original" independent documents that rutherford was an alcoholic.... .
i read penton, but since he is a former jw he could not be considered an independent source.... .

If it was beer the container would be on its side and there would be a spigot.
Note the pump on top
Actually, in the time and place where I grew up, vertically mounted beer containers were in common usage. Made out of stainless steel, and with a "pump on top", they looked just like a slimmed-down version of the one in that
BoozerfordRutherford photograph. (The container in that photo looks to be of about 4.5 Imperial gallons in capacity. Those that I remember held 2.5 Imperial gallons - i.e. 11.35 litres).Another thing that I vividly recall about those containers was that they were very popular amongst the booze-artists of the time!

They might sport a university qualification in journalism, yet cannot spell correctly if their lives depended on it.
Contrast that with my late mother, who -along with her siblings - never even attended high school. Yet, they were all meticulous with their spelling. By Crikey, but if one of their sons or daughters made a spelling mistake, the reaction was almost as if you had printed a naughty word!

JWs obtaining fake degrees from a US institution to teach English as a foreign language
by truthseeker inteaching english as a foreign language in asian countries is quite popular for those looking to travel and explore and make some money.
if you have the tefl qualification you're pretty much good to go and don't need a degree.i don't know how lucrative these overseas jobs are but i do know one jw from my congregation in england who decided to move to the caribbean and teach english as a foreign language.
i'm not knocking this individual.

There is a similar institution in Australia.
Located in Tasmania, it is called “The University of Lower Crackpot”.

my first reaction at home about the current conflict between gaza and israel made this clear.. what an automatic reaction is for a generation x is a disaster for generation a.. result was my first shock about myself, generation x. do i see the global and local issues still clear?!?
why became my teenagers so wise persons with a more balanced world view?

Agreed.
You couldn’t call the perpetrators of those acts “animals’, as that would be an insult to animals!

This dumbing down of reporting is not just confined to the UK. While going through some of my father’s old things, I came across a newspaper cutting from the year 1959. The contrast in standards between that and modern reporting was startling. One of the reasons I no longer read newspapers! -

An argument which has been raging for over 1500 years, and unlikely to be resolved anytime soon.
