Newsweek Cover: Who Killed Jesus?
by willyloman inmsn has posted the cover of the latest issue of newsweek, with a cover story on mel gibson's new movie based on jesus' crucifixion.
the provocative headline: who really killed jesus.. without getting into that debate, i'm going to go out on a limb and make a prediction:.
i have not read the article, but think it is a pretty safe bet that with all the religious experts they will quote in this article, there will not be one single reference to the wts or jw's.. just a couple of years ago, the same magazine (or was it time?

After all that effort, they don't even register as a blip on the screen when reporters set out to investigate stories based on the bible
Excellant thread Willy, the only positive press the WTS gets is it's own. I'm just wondering why, after so many years of such intense study by the WTS; nobody outside the org looks upon them as experts.
Runningman... love that term apocalytic crapola; you should copyrite it.

Did Jesus or other bibical figures use marijuana?
by Leander ini've heard on a couple of occasions that it was a frequent practice in bible times for people to use hemp oil.
has anyone else heard this take on the bible before?
is there a way to prove whether its true or not?

Peyote was/is a popular hallucinagenic in many native american rituals. I've never known anyone actually hallucinate on cannabis either.

Lets see if I can answer your questions:
What is the WT doctrine
To make a long answer short... Armageddons coming. This is the battle where jesus destroys alll of mankind except the 144,ooo lucky ones who go to heaven and form a government with Jesus to rule over those of mankind deemed worthy to survive Armageddon. how do we survive Armageddon... according to WTS theology faith and works. Faith in the Governing Body (board of Directors) of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. And works, getting as many hours in the field as possible hawking the corporations literature.
Your wife hasn't mentioned the door to door yet because she's a newbie, as such she is being eased into the religion. At present other people are racking up service hours teaching her what the religions all about. The ultimate goal is baptism. After getting dunked in the fish tank your wife will try to rack up her hour total as well.
Eventually your wife will be so programmed that her salvation is more important than anything else in her life including your family unit.

Will there be winter in the new system?
by Atilla inso much snow this winter, but it reminds me of the silly conversations we would have out in service about conditions in the new system.
this one guy, who thought he knew everything because he had been to bethel and had been pioneering since the 9th grade, was positive that there would be no winter in the new system.
his reasoning was that since the whole earth would be made into a paradise with perfect conditions, there would be no real cold places like russia or even central pennsylvania.

After armageddon, everyone who survives could just move to Mexico.
