You mentioned that the book is a work of fiction.
All the publications of the Watchtower are works of fiction too.
I'd say that if you're reading Watchtower fiction, then any other kind of fiction is fine.
i bought a book that was published by one brother in our area.
the title, if only, the brother didnt change his name he is, alex bogdanov, to support this brother i bought his book.
it is fiction about couples and i didnt think nothing of it, but after reading a few chapters one of the characters is an ex jw, i don’t think this character is disfellowshipped in the book, but she is definitely not active.

it's that time of year again.. trying to decide if i should or shouldn't.
:-).
You could always pre-drink. Then you can act like you partook, but nobody witnessed it. LOL
elders arranged a sort of informal visit by a more capable elder accompanied by another brother who is more qualified than me from academic background.
their purpose was to reason with me as a last resort to avoid a jc.. during the two-hour discussion, i could make my point clear to them: “i don’t think any one particular religion has the whole truth.
it may be existing as bits and piece in all religions and schools of thought.
"they want to reason with you so as to avoid a JC"
Which means, when translated, "they want to confirm your Apostate™ tendencies so they can announce that you are No Longer One of Jehovah's Witnesses™ at the very next Meeting™."
It seems they've done just that. By saying "This is a sign of apostasy", they've confirmed that they can go ahead and make the announcement. No JC required.
i ask this question for the following reason.
i was sitting at the kingdom hall thinking about all the rules, procedures, policies, teachings that each member must follow ......or else!.
at the watchtower study we are reminded of the paradise earth where we will all be the same and happy.
Was there *ever* joy in The Preaching Work™?
If there was, I'd never noticed it.
i was thinking about the jdub paradise this morning and all of the pictures in the watchtower company's literature illustrating the new system of things.. here is a partial list of what you see in the pictures:.
pet pandas, lions, elephants.
people always on a picnic with lots of beautiful fruits and vegetables.
The Paradise™ apparently doesn't exist immediately after Armageddon™. Remember there's a huge clean-up needed - we were reminded about this many times while I was growing up, and also that was why it was so important to learn how to do cleaning work. <eyeroll>
That seemed all fine and dandy until I was in my late 20s and had a couple of kids, and became kind of miffed about having to constantly clean up after everyone else. This Jezebel™ began to joke about how it would be nothing for Jehovah to wave his Almighty™ Hand and clean up his own damned mess, but no, the WTS made it abundantly clear that it was the people who Survived Armageddon™ who would be blessed with the Privilege™ of cleaning up Jehovah's final temper tantrum against his Enemies™.
F*ck that $h!t.
Apparently I have a Bad Attitude™.
hahahahaha
i just now went to get meat from my fridge to cook, took the meat out & shut the door as i shut the door i thought i saw a piece of rope in the six pack i had just opened & had removed 2 cans, already drunk 1.. open the door again & there i saw what i thought was a piece of rope, but i look a bit closer ...... shit it's a friggin snake, bugger i had only just taken two cans out wtf.. .
You threw away the rest of the beer?? What a waste, man!!
when in conversion, you sometimes get carried away and the talk becomes all about you.. then, you remember you're in a conversation, say you're sorry, and allow the other person to talk.
she goes on about what's happening in her life, you listen and ask some questions.
she tells you more and then shifts the dialogue back to you.
Thank them for sharing their story and give them a round of applause.
is this true?
is this really true?!.

"the breeding act"???
So they seem to be saying that sexual relations are for breeding only now? Not just for married couples?? So Bethel couples are expected to refrain so as not to "breed"??
i think i read somewhere that if you have been inactive for ten years plus, the elders will not try to meet with you and corner you to get you back "in".
is that true?.
i just realized that mr. spiral and i haven't gone to meetings or reported time for over ten years.
They haven't bothered me (much), but I don't go poking the bear either, if you know what I mean.
Not even my JW relatives have made attempts to try to bring us back to the fold. Not once. It makes me wonder if they really don't believe the doctrines, or they don't give a $h!t about us enough to want us to be in Paradise™ with them. I have a few snappy retorts in my pocket if any JW relatives try to make a snide remark about atheism or creationism, but once I whip them out, they get Offended™ for insulting their beliefs (yet I'm not allowed to get offended when they insult my beliefs). That's a no-win scenario.
"my husbands religious beliefs are ruining our family" is the topic.
i"m not home when it airs on cbs in the afternoon so i watch a rerun on ch 55 here in nyc at 8pm.
i have my cable box all set to switch over at the appropriate time..
Hi Shirley
The wife did actually say that the Elders™ told the husband that he should shun her because she is an Apostate™ and that she is causing Spiritual Endangerment™ for him.
On another note:
I agree that CPS has cause to remove the children from the home. Robert is not the son's biological father, so why is he dealing with the bedwetting situation and not the mother? And why is the child so terrified about wetting the bed that he hides wet pyjamas and clothing, and goes to school smelling of urine? And why would he tell the school that Robert pushed him out the window, when he in fact jumped, if not to try to remove Robert from the home? People don't get reported to CPS 7 times for nothing. IMO, the child isn't lying, the acting out is a cry for help.
Tatiana (the mother) said she felt manipulated by Robert into joining the JWs. To me, there's something not right about Robert. There's no emotional response from him AT ALL.
BTW, I loved when Dr. Phil said that when a church tries to come between a husband and a wife and their children, IT'S TIME TO FIND ANOTHER CHURCH.
