  Personally, I'm afraid if I ever go I might start laughing out loud at inappropriate moments. Like when they say something about the "closeness" of Armageddon!! Oh wait. That would be TOTALLY SO APPROPRIATE!

  My other fear is that I'll be so bored that I'll fall under the spell of the unyielding MOOOOOOOnotony and find myself curled up asleep on the floor three days later.

  Going out with a bang

  after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.

  it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.

  Guilt over Self-Pleasuring as a Dub. You?

  i'm wondering if any of you suffered major guilt over getting yourself off while a dub.

  or did you all manage to abstain until you left?

  i know it was one of the main reasons i left.

  The whole organization is guilt and shame based. They WANT you to feel guilty and ashamed of the most natural of instincts.

  I used to question why Jehovah would create humans with the capacity to feel pleasure in engaging in "self-abuse", as the WTS so eloquently referred to it. If we were created with the ability to enjoy it, and then told that we weren't allowed to engage in it, it seems like God deserves the Marquis de Sade Award.

  It's like giving a brand new bike to a kid and telling him he's not allowed to use it until he's got a driver's licence. Pure stupidity.

  Considering all the stress the WTS dumps on people with time demands and such, self-pleasuring seems like a fairly simple way to let off some steam. Exercise is good too, but not exactly something you can do when it's 2am and you're laying there wide awake, unable to get back to sleep while everyone else in the house is asleep.

  How sweet...Not knowing when family dies....

  ahhh, just blowing off a little steam here...perhaps many of you have been through the same shit.

  i knew for the past couple of years that my uncle in mobile was dying of cancer.

  well, the last time my mother and i talked (around october i think)she said, "well, we were in mobile all last weekend for uncle *****'s funeral".

  I've had similar things happen to me, and I'm not DFd or DAd.

  In the seven years since we stopped going to meetings, my mother has called me ONCE. Sometimes when I've visited them (it's extremely rare that they come to visit US, once in the past 3½ years) my mom will mention that someone has died, and when I express surprise and ask "when?" she'll say the most inane thing I've ever heard: "I thought you knew." Huh

  When I've said things like "How would I know?? Nobody ever called me to tell me...," she'll lie to my face and say "Well I TRIED to call you, but you don't answer the phone when I call." Not true. If she EVER called, I have Call Display and would see the number. If I miss a call, I have an answering machine.

  Oh, and get this: when an elderly JW that I had known all my life died, people contacted me afterward to find out why I didn't WANT to come to the Memorial Service. I would question the wording: "What do you mean 'Why did I not WANT to be there?' I didn't even KNOW about it!" I then found out that is what my mother would say when asked where I was.

  It infuriates me that JWs can be so childish and ignorant. The mind games they play to make themselves look better than everyone else just make me want to puke.

  my daughter was born at 9:05am tuesday morning.

  she's a skinny little thing, 7 pounds 5 ounces, with a shock of black hair, her father's chin, her mother's eyes, and a fetish for sucking on fingertips that neither of us recognize in ourselves.

  i'll post pictures when i have them up somewhere ... meanwhile, foxy and i are trying to catch as much sleep as possible, which is precious little sleep at all.

  i recently admitted to a jw back in wisconsin that we no longer go to meetings.

  i told her that we have not disassociated but we do not think of ourselves as jws anymore.

  i had been close friends with this person since 1974. .

  part 4: the last km school .

  the average jw elder participates in extra exclusive activities over and above the rank & file jw: among them are the judicial committees, private meetings with the circuit and district overseer on various official occasions, possession of the secretive flock book, and kingdom ministry school.. of all these, the least frequently experienced is km school.

  it is not all that exciting, because much of what is covered is admonition about what most jws already know that elders are supposed to be doing: examples in field service, regular shepherding calls, meeting preparation and attendance, study with the family, etc.
