  But what if two children make accusations at different points in time? Say child B says that Brother Mature "touched me" and we already know that 14 months earlier child A said the same thing. Are both children's claims dismissed because they are uncorroborated, or do we now have compound testimony that MUST be considered?

  From what I gather, the "Flock" book says something about each specific incident of wrongdoing requiring two credible (i.e., "adult") eyewitnesses in order to prompt an investigation. The trouble with this policy where child molesters are concerned is this: How many child molesters invite an audience to watch them do what they do?? Someone who is a habitual pedophile knows how to behave in groups so they will be above suspicion. They only molest children when they KNOW they will not be caught, and when they KNOW their victim will not be believed if the behaviour gets reported.

  You can have 20 kids giving 20 separate accounts of being molested by Brother Mature, and yet, in spite of the compelling amount of testimony, if Brother Mature DENIES that it happened, the elders will DO NOTHING about it. They will tell ALL 20 VICTIMS to be quiet so as not to "SLANDER" poor Brother Mature's good name, and risk being disfellowshipped. So Brother Mature gets to retain his privileges. He gets to give talks and offer prayers at meetings. He gets to go out in service. He gets to go with YOUR car group and sit next to YOUR son or daughter in YOUR car. He gets to go to the Book Study in YOUR home. He gets to go to homes in the neighbourhood and talk to parents of young children and tell them that he's found a "spiritual paradise"....

  This policy is SO sickening and SO dangerous.

  without going into a lot of details, i ended up administering a blood product for a serious blood clotting deficiency, called von willebrand's disease, type iii.

  according to http://www.medscape.com it is the most commonly inherited bleeding disorder, caused by inheritance of a quantitative or qualitative abnormality of von willebrand factor (vwf).

  I had a very interesting situation at work last night. Without going into a lot of details, I ended up administering a blood product for a serious blood clotting deficiency, called von Willebrand's disease, type III. According to http://www.medscape.com it is the most commonly inherited bleeding disorder, caused by inheritance of a quantitative or qualitative abnormality of von Willebrand factor (vWF). While the majority of patients are successfully treated with adjunctive therapies or with synthetic vasopressin analog desmopressin acetate (DDAVP), a subset of patients [Type III, such as my patient] requires replacement therapy. In the past cryoprecipitate was the mainstay of therapy; however, it was associated with seroconversion to hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in treated individuals. With the advent of virucidal methodology and more recently, nucleic acid testing (NAT) of plasma fractions, the plasma-derived concentrates containing VWF are now considered the therapeutic standard of care.   The disease is similar to hemophilia, in that the patient does not have the same blood clotting capabilities as a normal person does due to a missing clotting factor. In hemophilia, the clotting factor is called "Factor VIII", while for von Willebrand's disease type III, the missing clotting factor is called (not surprisingly) von Willebrand factor. While I was preparing the infusion for the patient, I read the package insert, part of which reads:

  This product is prepared from large pools of human plasma...

  LARGE POOLS!!

  (Incidentally, this preparation, because it requires such a huge volume of donor plasma, is VERY expensive, approximately $3000 per dose.)

  Now, let's back-track for a moment. The treatment of blood clotting disorders like this is one of those uses of blood products that the WTS will allow.

  The WTS compares the forced transfusion of a SINGLE unit of blood (usually "leukocyte reduced red blood cell concentrate") to RAPE.

  Let's follow the analogy through: it would follow that a JW who willingly accepted a blood transfusion would be comparable to committing FORNICATION or ADULTERY.

  Yet, this compound, which is composed of collected clotting factors from MANY people, is permitted. However, if you follow the WTS's own sexual activity/blood analogy through to its logical conclusion, it would be the equivalent of HAVING AN ORGY.

  Does this make ANY sense?? ANY sense at all??

  How Far Will They Go?

  as more and more ex-witnesses speak out online, as we have here, it's obvious that the society has to see it as a threat.. since they probably won't come out and ban internet access for their members, how are they going to deal with us?

  many of us make no secret of our names and locations, and for the rest it would not be hard for someone with the org's resources to find that information.

  as things like the child abuse issue, the u.n. membership, and the blood issue become more publicized their damage-control efforts will have to increase.

  By and large, I think they will keep telling their rank and file that we are liars and that we are persecuting the Watchtower, as prophesied in the Bible. I doubt there will be any legal actions taken, unless we put up copyrighted material on a web site and they can track down who owns it. Then, only maybe.

  I think they tried that with Kent's website and failed miserably.

  Their only recourse, I believe, is to continue to vilify and demonize "apostates" to the rank and file; to make us out to be the biggest baddest bogeyman possible in order to scare JWs to death about ever coming in contact with one of "us".

  When I was a kid, there were RARELY any WT articles about apostasy or the dangers of becoming "apostate" through "independent thinking". Those articles all started in the late 70s and early 80s and I think they've become more frequent, and more alarming to JWs.

  It would be interesting to do a search on a WT CD-ROM and check the statistics on the frequency of the warnings over a timeline.

  The "apostate" label along with the threat of DFing and shunning for anyone who leaves or disagrees with the WTS is their trump card. It keeps people from voicing their opinions, or even thinking about the glaring inconsistencies, the hypocrisy, the blatant lies that have been told to keep the WTS afloat.

  The WTS is still a sinking ship, and the people who realize that know the best chance they have is to jump ship.

  Shunned from Sister's wedding reception PART 2

  Ok, you can honestly tell your sister that you DID NOT write a letter of disassociation.

  You can tell her that if this is what she has heard, then she has been misinformed (lied to?) by her "loving brothers" in the organization.

  She can even go to the Body of Elders and request to see whether or not a letter was received from you stating that you wished to be disassociated. You stated to them that you wished for THEM (the elders) to leave you alone. IMO, they were harassing you, making accusations, whereas you just wished to mind your own business and quietly lead your life away from the JWs.

  It might be an interesting exchange between her and your dad too; you indicated on the previous thread that your dad and brothers would ask you to leave a private party....

  I'm finding it humourous how she's rationalizing the information on the website as being "correct", yet still not GETTING THE POINT that she is practicing shunning.

  Man, I sure don't envy you guys!!

  So, this sad tragedy does bear the marks of something that might have been avoided if the JW religion had been loving, not controlling, and did not have a policy of shunning.

  disfellowshipping and suicide

  my mother had been a faithful witness for 16 yrs, she got addicted to prescription drugs and things got very bad for her.

  she overdosed one nite and was put in rehab.

  she began smoking after rehab and was disfellowhipped for it, she got a letter in the mail .

  the WTS bears part of the blame for hers and other deaths

  I say all of it.!

  The problem is, even if the WTS is TOTALLY to blame for any/all of these deaths, they can't even bring themselves to admit that they have the teeniest-tiniest responsibility. They consider themselves to be above reproach. Furthermore, they don't give a flip. Look at the way they refuse to hold a memorial service for the family. How cold, how callous, how "christian" is that?

  The GB/WTS/JWs care only about ONE thing: pushing books down people's throats and sending the profits to the False Prophets in Brooklyn NY. If you don't keep up with them, they toss you on the garbage pile and forget about you, like you never existed.

  It's cut-throat in that pack of wolves, a dog-eat-dog rat-race. I'm so glad I'm not part of it anymore.

  Apostates in Kingston Ontario,here I come!

  well i am going to kingston this weekend for my annual hockey tournament,we will be getting very drunk and searching for any willing women at the iron horse or as we call it the aluminum pony.

  the weekend is never complete without a visit to the local kingdom hall for urinal relief!.
