The Effeminate JW man

time to pick on the guys!

i was an adult when i was conned into the corporate cult known as jehovahs witnesses.

before that time i hung with a rough crowd of guys who carried guns and did bad things to people they didn't like, or who were stupid enough to let these guys know they disliked them.

It's interesting that you began this thread. I have often looked at images of the way Jesus is portrayed. He looks like a wimp. I don't believe he was a wimp, but it seems like any man who shows love and compassion and is gentle in nature, is often portrayed as such.

I like a mentally strong man, one that speaks up and is honest. A healthy man will have a healthy body and that is appealing. He doesn't have to be a muscle machine or have a tan. I like a man who exercises restraint when necessary, but who can take up for himself and those he loves, with words first but with a firmer approach as the situation presents itself. I prefer not to be around an obnoxious individual, who is quicker to use his fist than his reason.

I believe many JW men that I knew from my old congregation were taking their wive's antidepressants so they could fit the part of the acceptable JW male.

I truly don't believe this site is a "hook-up" for singles, so if that is your agenda, you will probably be disappointed. How folks connect on the private messaging and emails is their business, but I for one, don't want to read all about dating and hooking up. There is a bit of harmless flirting within messages.

There are a couple beautiful stories here about people that did find each other in a committed relationship...a few resulting in marriage and children. You will also see threads relating to apostofests and gatherings. Maybe you can "hook" up with someone on those sites.

JW friend is now JW bf, help.

i have a friend whos a jw and last october we started to hang out together (just us two).

everything was fine, we'd talk, watch movies etc.

then i started to feel different towards him, i started to like him.

Put the emotions of a person trapped in a dogmatic religion, mix in his own libedo and human sexual hormones, add one vulnerable young girl with her own libedo and human sexual hormones, and you've got one hot bowl of gumbo. When you've both eaten it all, you will get very sick and never want it again.

You will look back and have regrets....if he didn't use a condom, you will have even more regrets. He can't love you because he doesn't know who he is. Do you want to struggle with his problems for years to come? Do yourself a favor and if you really care about him, leave him alone. Even though you are saying that you don't have those desires, I believe you do. Why not? You are only human. He is a human and a JW. He needs to make some decisions in his life and he must do them alone before he can even attempt to have a normal relationship with anyone else.

We fool ourselves into believing that the hormones won't surface and that we can control them, and that just isn't human nature. You are both on fire right now. He really is trying to spare you, but at the same time, he wants to get closer and closer to you. You will end up getting more hurt than you are right now if you don't step back and take a look at this situation with realistic eyes.

DRUGS!

when i returned to the jw's a few years ago, i was on drugs.

years, but one especially heavy acid trip sent me searching for god, and i thought i found him with the dubs.

The way I tend to view "set-backs" in life, is that for some reason, we were meant to take those paths. You are obviously at a better place in your life now. Pull the good from your experience, and leave the rest.

Life is great and meant to be lived. Give your soul a happy journey.

Facing my family.....

although i have not really shared my story here, i have one thing i'd like to share now that makes me very nervous.

i'm going to visit some friends of mine in arizona for a week.

they are friends i had made on my own way after jw's, great, supportive, loving friends....i'm proud of them in that they truely have become my family and have re-defined the true meaning of friendship.

Oh Eve, it is truly something the unique situations that are presented to us because of our association/non-association with a group of dogmatic people. The emotional blackmail.

Don't be too overly concerned. All you need to do is be yourself. Do what your heart tells you and try to show her love and compassion. You will no doubt find that your ability to be this way will impress her a great deal--though she may not tell you. You can be a balanced person, whereas, she is behaving against her own heart.

I am SO in love...!

last night, while i was still brushing my teeth, he crawled into my bed and laid his head on my pillow.

i jokingly told him that he wasn't supposed to be on my side of the bed and that he had to move.

I will always remember my small boy hugging me and telling me that when he grew up he was going to marry me, cause I was so pretty and so nice. I told him that was so sweet, but that when he grew up, I would be so much older and he would have a girlfriend. ( No use trying to explain about other stuff.) He was only four.

Your Best / Worst attribute....

be honest.. i'll start.. my best is i'm a good boy at work.

i look after my staff well, and give my all in looking after my patients on the ward.

thats important to me.. my worst is i'm getting ever increasingly self centered and selfish as i'm getting older.

Let's see. My best attribute is being a responsible person. In relationships, in job performance, you can count on me. I'm detailed and I rarely leave any loose ends.

My least attractive attribute is that when I'm feel down and misunderstood, I tend to become possessive of what I have. I feel as if I must draw everything I love very close to me, for fear I will lose them. It is not the material item so much, as it is the feelings that come with them. I've lost so much in my life, that I sometimes feel very insecure.

Now that I'm 57, I don't worry so much about my outward appearance. I wear very little makeup, and am not into wearing the latest styles. I wanted to put some color on my graying hair, but my husband says my gray highlights are beautifull to him.

I care more about my spiritual and physical health. If I feel good and am taking care of myself, then I feel beautiful inside and out. For me that is what really counts.
