  First Post - Emotionally Torn

  i haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.

  i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .

  i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

  To answer your concerns: Yes, most of us have been through the mental/emotional stages that you are in right now. Some stronger and for some it was easier, depending on your upbringing.

  I started awakening being a Bethelite and Elder. Getting out brought a lot of pain and complex problems. The guilt is certainly there, but it will fade, like many things in Life. The good thing about Life is that pain is also only momentarily (like joy or happiness). If you are studying Biology then you know well that it is only chemistry and electricity in your brain. Let your brain play "it's games" and with due time it goes away and something else comes up - that is more permanent and more important - the sense of freedom and a new mental peace, never known before. Out of personal experience I can assure you that this IS possible. I lost my complete family to the cult, including my wife and lovely daughter.

  People have fought wars and died only for freedom. You will be brave enough, like others, to get through this.

  Excellent points and fantastic reasoning Terry!

  I liked the example with the fly - how true. Humans (out of whatever reasons) like the "black-and-white"-approach. Gives security (if only a false sense of security).

  To me the worst is to come to such conclusions and to awaken consciously, taking reign of my own destination, not letting my mind drifting around and getting into "cozy fantasies" or fears AND having to deal with the consequences of thinking errors of the past!

  I now know so many things, but my thinking has put me into this particular situation in Life where I have to use most of my energy to turn this ship around. It's like being in trance, at high sea, drifting further away, then noticing how stupid you where, taking the maps, the compass, whatever and noticing that you are hundreds or thousands of miles away from where you thought you where going or wanted to be. Now you will need all the will, strength and energy to go back - if possible at all.

  I don't want to paint a "black picture" of the future and maybe being where we are now is good too, but this is how it feels.

  The last months have been quite an experience in letting my consciousness become stronger and just being. Very powerful and my inner fears, storms and nervous up and downs are calm and centered. Now I have to deal with the aftermath of previous decisions.

  Thank you for your insightful writings and the thought process that went into it. I truly appreciate your work here at JWN.

  interesting shout down occured in eastern ukraine between two factions of the christian orthodox following a deadly shoot out.. ukrainian orhtodox leader patriarch filerat condemned putin and company as being against god's will while pro russia patriarch kirill spoke of the west trying to destroy holy russia.. like the syrian war there are multiple players adn complex agendas.

  how do you see the political landscape changing depending on who prevails..

  Great news - Bethel in my country is closing down...

  here in czech republic wtbs opened new bethel home for some 60 workers about 18 years ago.

  it was presented as a proof jhvh is blessing and aproving wtbs and of course as a sign that the end is so close.... recently i had with my mil discusions about wtbs selling their property in many countries and cuting costs... she did not believe me..... last week we went to visit her and she told me there was an anouncment at her meeting, that bethel is closing down and the building will be sold.

  only translating department will remain in the country in other premises and everything else will be moved to slovakia.. recently there is bethel closing down in spain and italy and several assembly halls being sold here in europe.. i hope this will open eyes to many jw to see the gb in fact does not believe in end being so close .... albert.

  We must also say that the process of misappropriation is much darker and abominable than the misappropriation of funds, lets say from a company or organization. Within the frame of a religious entity it takes a deeper emotional toll on people.

  If your business partner takes funds away, uses them for another purpose and comes up with a bullshit explanation you have tools and ways to face and cope with the situation. It is clear what happened and you can take the case to court or settle the matter. You know what happened here.

  Not so much with the greedy Watchtower, that, let's not forget disguises herself as a religion. People feel helpless and simply cannot do anything against the wrongdoing, because it puts them in a position where they think that God would punish them - they are rising their hand not against the organization but against Jehovah. This takes it to another emotional level!

  That is why you will never see such things (or even pedophilia cases) being handled and properly addressed.

  In my time at the different Watchtower offices there was not even ONE case of crack down on misappropriation of funds by the "inner circle", but plenty of cases where the Service Department hounded elders and disfellowshipped them because they considered that they used funds for the "wrong purpose" (aka: not giving it to mother and instead using them to fix something at the Hall or helping some poor and even sick brother at the Hall!).

  Believe me (I was there!) the Watchtower doesn't joke around if you touch their money - for whatever reason! The other way around? No problem, the Governing Body decided so and they are Gods mouthpiece. So, shut up and swallow it.

  Just as a side note: in many countries, like South America and also Mexico the accounts are kept at the Branch - exactly because the Borg doesn't trust the local elders and fears "long fingers" in their coffers. So, they just move it internally from one account to the other, but physically they get to keep all that cash in physical bank accounts with the Watchtower name on it - ready for investment purposes and also gains of interest! It doesn't matter if the money belongs to you - as long as THEY can handle it for you, because in the meantime it becomes "play money" for them.

  I have to add something that now amuses me and is actually quite funny (NOT).

  If there is someone here that knows the work in Nicaragua, you will remember that at one time they started working and building not one Branch Project but TWO - simultaneously! The backstory is sordid and was one of my first "shocks" about the Organization! I will not hijack the thread (and can tell this story in a separate thread), but it pertains to this topic because the mindset is the same.

  Step 1: Buy land or get donated land

  Step 2: Big fights and discussions lead the Borg to believe that Land from step 1 is not good, so they start another project at another place.

  Step 3: have everybody donate towards BOTH projects.

  Step 4: Sell off Project 1 (with buildings, reception, rooms, setups like parking lots, etc.) to rich foreign corporation. Put money in pocket.

  Step 5: Continue with project 2 (start all over again > donations, free work, etc.)

  Step 6: Sell again. Cash in. Be happy.

  Project 1 was Branch project in Diriamba and Project 2 was Branch project in Ticuantepe.

  There you have it. Easy, isn't it? Nothing new for "old mother".

  I can personally testify that this has happened in other countries as well. This is believable and not the first time. One specific example is the Assembly Hall in Chinandega (Nicaragua). I was working at the Branch and it happened exactly like this case. The plot was donated (a very big piece of land) and they made everybody crazy about the project. Brothers started planning and donating towards the project. 8 years passed by and the project was scrapped. The difference being here that none of the congregations even deserved a proper answer from the Branch. In the meantime many of the elders that where on the Committee for that Hall where disfellowshipped (due to other reasons) or lost their "privileges". Nobody asked anymore, put under lid and closure.

  Fast forward to now and they sold everything - new Branch, plots of land, Missionary homes and the old Branch (to a Hotel chain).

  BIG BUCKS. YEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH. Jehovah certainly knows how to make some good cash off his slaves.

  just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.

  congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.

  congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.

  When I was at Bethel we had a Branch Committee member that worked closely with the Engineering guys up in New York and they where all wet and hot about the "McDonalds"-Business model and for a while they where working on "Standard" Kingdom Hall models that could be packaged and sent off to different developing countries (just like McD), they even rolled that out for Central America (defining to the chair how a Model A, B and C KH would look like). Later they scrapped the idea and went back to buildings "more appropriate" to the area (which means: rich ass Congos got Halls with comfy chairs and luxurious stuff and smaller rural areas, well brother, sit on that plastic chair that will break in a couple of months time, because you know, Jesus was wandering around in ugly sandals).

  There you have it. Modeling the world.

  Emeth? Ignore the troll. Son, there are more noble way to go through Life than trolling. Please, have some self-respect.
