  Hotels Deny Watchtower Discount Rates For 2020 Regional Conventions

  the wtbts is not being given special room rates by 2 major hotels at the long beach convention center area for the upcoming 2020 regional conventions & wt is t'd off.

  letters are being read in surrounding circuits and congregations.

  apparently wt is afraid that other hotels are going to blackball them as well.. has anyone else heard this?

  Anyone who has been around the business world probably knows this. Years ago I worked at a job where I'd have to plan travel (not a hard task as the company had a travel agent) and she explained the perk system to me.

  A few years later (as we were starting to fade) we'd frequently plan to go to a different convention (easy to skip most of it) and we always just booked where we wanted to stay. I doubt we ever paid more for the same type of room. Plus we'd get the points, or whatever was on offer.

  Always good to know how things really work.

  russia believes they are a threat.

  the usa has put witnesses in jail in the past.

  other countries look at jws as a nuisance.. do you think the witnesses are a threat to governments?

  Nah.

  They might sound extremist on the surface, but we all know they are really too lazy - er, passive, god fearing - to actually do anything of substance against a government, beyond tax evasion.

  "thoughts and prayers" - the same sappy thought that comes from many religions, which means nothing.

  I also don't understand why any of these people believe in a God who loves to watch suffering, and never steps in to help. What's the point?

  i haven’t been on here in awhile and this is my second user name because i was busted by my pimi wife on the first one.

  i have been basically awake since 2013. i have a super dub wife that i love and don’t want to lose and my sick mom in the hall that is a true believer.

  stupid religion has gotten between my wife and i (of course).

  After reading all these comments, I'd have to say, just go for it. Jump off that pier and swim. Removal or stepping down, whichever works best for you.

  I know your wife will get "sympathy bombed" - or should I say "sympathy shamed" - by other sisters, but it won't last long.

  this only happened once last night.

  All I can say is I see orbs from time to time on my cameras, but I think they are just dust or reflections.

  But, I've never seen 50 or more at a time, so not sure what to think of that!

  "the fifth stage of erik erikson's theory of psychosocial development is identity vs. role confusion, and it occurs during adolescence, from about 12-18 years.

  during this stage, adolescents search for a sense of self and personal identity, through an intense exploration of personal values, beliefs, and goals.".

  I think all people who grow up in controlling religions or ideologies are deprived of experiencing this stage, or are greatly harassed by their parents. I certainly did, although as an adult I tried to play "catch up".

  This is one of the things I hated about being a JW, the peer pressure to conform to such a narrow behavioral model. As a parent, I hated it even more. This is one of the reasons we are "out" as a family. Our son didn't want to stay in, and we didn't see the need to force him. And looking at it all through his eyes made us hate going to the meetings.

  i was ministered to by several different people at a jw funeral i attended today.

  one older lady said to me, "you know the end is right around the corner, just look at the state of the world today".

  i said, "well yes but that has been the mantra for decades, remember 'stay alive till '75'".
