It would not be a stretch to consider this latest development as more evidence of libelous construction . A premptive law suit would bring the matter into the light of the civil court and out of the darkness of the Kingdom Hall.. Obviously they want Bill and Barbara out of the way before the September march.

Anderson Committee Move In For Kill
by silentlambs inwell it appears the watchtower is back at their executions.
after jr brown besmirched her moral character by saying she was being disfellowshipped for other sins unrelated to the dateline program, now three men want to meet her at a motel?
why not the kingdom hall?

I have considerable experience in hotel management and I think the top officials at the Ramada should be notified that this event may have far reaching "bad press" considering the WTBTS and the child abuse issue. I think they should be informed that Barbara Anderson is a key witness against the harmful methods exposed on Date Line and Panorama and that this meeting is an obvious attempt to silence her. I don't think they will allow a "Judicial Proceeding" of this nature on their premisis. It goes beyond the purpose for which they do business and I don"t think it will be worth it to them to be drawn in to something like this.

Get confirmation in writing from the WTBTS that this procedure has their sanction. If they do not sanction the procedure then that becomes grounds for refusal to attend . If they do sanction the procedure they are committed to explain why in this case such a procedure became necessary. If they claim they do not need to explain then a forthcoming case of lible against the local elders and the WTBTS is strengthened. If they sanction and give an explanation that is reasonable then an alternative may be suggested that meets their criteria ( such as Barbara's home). If this is refused then a lible case is again strengthened. Remember this is not the first action against Barbara and it represents more "evidence" of a concerted effort to discredit an innocent person trying to protect children.

This appears to be an unprecedented request by a judicial committee. It seems wise for there to be a call to N.Y. by Barbara's lawyer requesting written confirmation that this is acceptable form and that the letter is valid. The letter might also include notification that , in harmony with prudence and all that has been written in pertinent WT articles, Barbara at no time will allow herself to be alone with three men in a motel . Furthermore because of the "times we live in" the police will be notified that this meeting is taking place.

1000 asked to leave Brooklyn Bethel!
by cyberguy in1000 were asked to leave brooklyn bethel (actually, this includes the farm and patterson) "voluntarily!
" only 6 replied to the request in the last 3 weeks.
it looks like the "waters" of bethel are drying up, or rather, their revenues are drying up!

Tempering expectations to reality
by gravedancer inas one who has been reading posts this evening i find it odd that many of the xjw's here are wondering why every jw who sees a program like panorama doesn't immediately quit the cult (yes i said cult).
well its a rather obvious explanation, in my opinion.
simply put "you cannot argue against faith with facts".

Sound reasoning but you must factor in the "myth" of Holy Spirit and Angelic direction. Most Witnesses became members because they believed this organization was different , that it had Divine protection and guidance. Your scenario is accurate but it translates ,not to acceptance and assimilation , but to an increase in neurotic behavior. This is already observable on JW website chat rooms . The future is unpredictable but it will be disasterous for the rank and file if there is no let up. They are facing personal religious crisies. Everything hinges on momentum.

PROOF 2 WITNESS RULE IS NOT NEEDED
by minimus inthe wt.
of 10-1-77 asks if an unbelieving husband admitted that he had another woman, is his admission sufficient ground for a scriptural divorce.the response was"though for the sake of his reputation he might not be willing to own up to it in a court of law or before other persons.what can the wife do?
since she is part of the clean christian congregation, she should realize the importance of handling the matter properly.

Yes, it is true that th WTBTS allows such contradictions which stand as evidence that they have an agenda that supersedes the protection of it membership. A child"s testmony is superior to that of a wife or that of an adult based on the remarks of Jesus that adults should become "like" little children, naturally guileless. The agenda that supersedes this bible principle is "IMAGE". Like Madison Avenue advertising merchants the WTBTS protects its image at any cost. Ruthless! The indignation of the world is rightous!

the next question...
by gravedancer inmy philosophy as someone seeking to improve my understanding of why things are as they are, why things work, how i can improve things for myself all comes down to a simple method: always ask the next question.
asking the next question allows us to build logic chains.
the benefit in doing so allows us to construct mini-systems for ourselves as we grow.

gravedancer, you hit on the essence of what is wrong with Christian Belief. It does not answer the question of ... suffering.

The Old West in the 1800`s WTS/Custers last stand
by OUTLAW inthe 1800`s were the days of the old west.alot of interesting things happened during that time period....in 1876 russell wrote an article entitled"gentile times:when will they end?
"which was published in george strorrs periodical the bible examiner in the october1876 issue 11....in the same year of 1876 general georgearmstrong custer and his force of about 260 were massacred by the main indian strength at the battle of little bighorn....in1884 charles taze russel founded the watchtower tract society....i never thought of wts starting out in the days of the old west until i realised custer and russel lived duing the same time period...outlaw edited by - outlaw on 14 july 2002 17:43:17.

Yes, the times of Russell have much to do with his religious thinking. The Westward expansion, inventions, the industrial revolution, Civil War. Think about the dynamics of the late 1800"s and laminate the 2nd Adventist World View to the science of the day and you will have a brew that will intoxicate any post Calvinist pilgrim.

"Two Witnesses" doctrine and child ab...
by stevieb1 inlike many others, i too am outraged by the watchtower's legalistic doctrine over the reporting of child abuse to the authorities, but for those lead by the bible we do have a dilemma because it would seem that the society are correct in their interpretation of deuteronomy 19:15 and matthew 18:16 and naturally they want to apply these verses to how they handle allegations of child abuse in judicial cases.. .
but with that being said, does the watchtower mis-apply these verses in any way?
if it can be shown that they do the case against them will be much stronger!.
