In this same issue of Awake, the WTS has taken the opportunity to promote, by mentioning, the UN's Declaration of the Elimination of Violence Against Women. I wonder if the writers of this magazine did this piece just so that they could do their duties as a mouthpiece for the UN. The UN is mentioned on pg. 4 and pg. 6 in this article. Granted, they aren't given as the solution to the problem, but this speaks to the governing body fulfilling its obligation as an NGO associated with the DPI. They are clearly letting the DPI 'direct' the content of some of their articles, even if it is only to the point of mentioning them in relation to the subject matter.

Nov. 8 Awake - Wife Beaters-Sick
by MrMoe ini will let you all hang who ever the heck wrote this crap.
november 8, 2001 awake page 9: some battered women may need to seek assistance from the authorities.
at times, a point of crisis-such as intervention of the police-can cause an abusive man to see the seriousness of the action.. page 12: should the battered wife leave her husband?

OK, This is what I have to say
by peacepipe ini need to put my two cents in about this even though i'm reading it a couple days after the last post.. when i think of the death of those i care about i usually have no problem picturing them going to heaven forever: some people just to me seem like there is nowhere else they could be.
those who i've been close to that have died that i'm questionable about them actually going to heaven i feel like in some way as long as there are those of us here to remember them they are still kept alive somehow.
when i really think about my own death i have a panic attack.

Thanks Tina. Yes, it makes sense and it sounds like a very high ideal. I just can't help wondering though. If men were inclined in such a direction by nature, wouldn't they have discovered a long time ago that the religions they create are part of the problem? If people really want to recognize a truth, they usually do, don't you think? And if they don't, what does that say about mans intelligence or desire for truth? If men are ultimately responsible for their own destiny, why is it that they would continue to perpetrate myths unless that is the direction that they want their destiny to go?

OK, but that still doesn't address the real issue here. If God and Satan don't exist then men are the source of these hateful acts. Regardless of whether they've created dieties to take the rap, the hate comes from them, if there is no other source for it. The same thing would be true of love, of course, but since men have thus far shown a greater capacity for hate, what does that mean? Assuming that God doesn't exist (I really believe He does) then anyone who has come to that conclusion cannot BLAME God for the hateful things that have been done. They can only, ultimately, blame the men who have made their gods in their own image. Why then can one assume that men would be better off without religion? If religion is only the image of man, man wouldn't be changed without it...

I think it was because he wasn't circumcised. God told Abraham that any male of his household that wouldn't get circumcised was to be cut off from his people.

Hebrews 1:5 For example, to which one of the angels did He ever say: "You are my son: I, today have become your father?" And again: "I Myself shall become his father, and he himself My son?"
***According to the WTBTS He must have said this to at least 2 of them...?????

(((At the time Michael was disputing with the Devil it was in the time of Moses. That was BEFORE Michael came to earth as Jesus and it was BEFORE Jesus was exalted to become the king of God's kingdom and BEFORE Jehovah conferred upon him all authority in heaven and on earth. So Michael showed respect for Jehovah's position by saying: "May Jehovah rebuke you." Since that time Michael has been given authority over Satan to not only oust him from heaven but to bind him in chains. That's why we read at Revelation the 12th chapter that Michael and his angels kick Satan and the demons out of heaven and Revelation the 20th chapter reveals that an angels tosses him into an abyss. The ultimate defeat of the Devil is something reserved exclusively for Jesus Christ because Satan had Jesus murdered. As the ultimate act of vengeance and justice Jehovah has empowered Jesus to crush the Devil. That's what Genesis foretold that the seed of the woman would do. The fact that Michael is shown in Scripture taking direct action against the Devil, something reserved for Christ to do, proves that Jesus and Michael are one and the same. / You Know)))
***So when did the archangel Michael, after becoming Jesus, become the fallen angel of the bottomless pit named Abaddon?
