about three weeks ago i told a friend about the un thing, no-one else, i had known for months but didn't tell her till she brought up a similar subject.

i gave her a printout from a guardian article, i have only had a short terse text message since.

i know she has a lot more to lose than i did, and i stopped going to meetings last year.

1.paranoid people, believing that god tells them what to do are capable of anything.

2. luthers dramatic act (innailing stuff to the ddor of the church) made his point very clear.. really a good idea i think and not im practical!!! the WTS believes in the free flow of information, they say that when their literature is banned, and they could not be hypocrites, could they????

On the News last nite....Muslim madness

at west end, brisbane, queensland, australia, a mad muslim man has been arguing with a christian pastor in the streets over the pastors preaching.

yesterday was too much for him....the muslim went up to him after much pleading from friends not to do so, and set fire to the pastor.

his reason?

i find it hard to like anything about the muslim religion.... but! i have been trying to understand it..!

and there are some good things- at least, in some places and with some people.

and some teachings, practises, and sects more interesting than others, then others that are the pits. along with dogmatism & fanatacism that everyone here has seen firsthand!!!

but - somehow, islam manages - along with judaism and christianity to descend to the depths, more often than it ascends to the heights.

and for australia being a 'christian' country violetAnai?
how do you define 'christian'?

is any country in the world 'christian' ?

maybe christian influenced.... but really 'christian' ?

let me ask you - consider the world today & the history of the world - can you consider that and still be proud to be 'christian' ?

The Pioneer Spirit

i bet there are a lot of people on this board that know lots about the pioneer spirit.. many of you have no doubt trudged door to door hunting the hours that are so essential to.

the spiritual watchtower person.

dont you remember how fulfilling it was?

- do u remember those half hour meetings (separate to the program) that co's & do's had to have with pioneers at circuit assemblies in the dim and distant past (and circuit assemblies went for 2 days)..

dealt with such topical matters as to how to clean your clothes, and what sort of food to cook...

then they ran out of things to say.............. and these meetings fizled.

in retrospect, it's interesting how many things fizzled.( instead of sizzled).

i think the 'specialness' of pioneering was inculcated by the society --- pioneers were made to feel special... which in essence was NOT scriptural (since all our brothers)....

oh well! at least i learned to face people and talk.

France fines Watchtower Millions

the other day my spouse heard a report on npr about the french government fining the watchtower millions of us dollars (40 million?

) for the so-called contributions they squeeze out of people.

did anyone reading this hear that report?

tax exemption for churches is wrong in principle.

all religious groups should be taxed, starting with local area rates and taxes on property.

the april 1st issue of the watchtower invites those who have some 'serious concealed sin' to report to the "loving christian elders".. it reminds the r&f that they (the elders) "will not treat lightly your desire to experience the restoration of a good relationship with your heavenly father".

oh yeah?

we all know that this is code for a judicial committee.

i recall the WT (usually jan1) used to - at times anyway, state the percentage of those disfellowshipped in the past year.

i think it was usually around 3%!

anyone any up=to-date info??
