  in another thread, entitled the ransom paid, its author raised a most important question -- a question that surely every person ought to be determined to know the answer to.

  im posting this also as a reply in that thread, but i feel that its such an important issue that the answer (as i see it) be given the widest publicity possible here on this forum.

  About "Alpha Club" and our New Econom...

  dear brothers and sisters.. i cannot answer all singularly because i am not capable of know all and well the english language,(if you find someone that help me will be excellent) but i can explain that, this big international association denominated alpha club, is the first time of the instauration of a new economic system.. from italy, we are preparing the bases of an international coins, for be expendable, in all country where this project will be operative.. in a world where the big of the finance are only preoccupied of save his profits, we are inserting a newconcept of to do finance and trade.. how real witnesses of god, we must be completely separated from the sistem of the beast 666, commercially, spiritually, politically.. with this new economic system, this is possible.. enrico frassinetti

  i wouldn't hold my breath, waiting for any reaonable and intelligent change.

  i know from personal experience, that there are many intelligent, men and women among the witnesses, but they long ago learned to shut-up, if no other reason, than NOT to cause upset among the "weaker" brothers!!!!!

  .....but there are also a lot of time servers.

  when the last of the GB dies, my guess is that we will get a museum organisation!!!

  with a whole lot of caretakers, devoted to preserving in wax the dead thoughts of the past.

  something like the waxen images of the dead leaders of totalitarian countries, who preserve the dead bodies of their "glorious" leaders (even re-embalming them every 12 months to keep their appearance fresh) for the faithful to queue up and view.

  come to think of it -- isn't it already like that inside the "organ...", with security minded elders making sure the faithful do not deviate from the pronouncements of wisdom handed down from on high.

  No more shunning from me!

  i was a jw for years, and i constantly run into old "friends" at the store, gym, doctor's, cinema, etc.

  up to now, i have just looked the other way because i knew they couldn't talk to me.. but after reading some posts here - i realized that i was contributing to their shunning.

  acting like i was still under their law - well no more!!.

  i've handled my occasional meetings with jws awkwardly, even with embarrasment on my part.

  but your post made me think!

  i am not wrong, i have done nothing of which to be ashamed.....

  next time i meet someone i once knew, i will do the same as you!!

  if they call, i will tell why i would no longer be interested in their religion.. etc!!!!

  parents, a rational choice .

  i was a believing walkaway (1974 ) from the group, jehovahs witnesses.

  i expected at some level that my walking away would be temporary.

  gary, i think u have seen the truth of the problem>.....

  in my experience inside the org. most witnesses do not fully understand the supporting reasons for beliefs.

  i.e. most witnesses know the witness view of 1914 --- but, ask them to prove, (without a text book) how that date is arrived at, and they will not be able to do that.

  during my time there i spoke to many so-called 'opposed' husbands, and found that the basis, for the label 'opposed', was the inability of their wives to explain (and prove) their beliefs.

  one poor guy, who i think was genuinely trying to understand what his wife was on about, told me that everytime he asked her to explain something, she would start yelling that he was persecuting her.

  it's tough for people without much formal education to understand 'reasoning' processes --- and that, i think, is the biggest failure of the jws. --- they are afraid to teach 'logic' etc because they know that in the process, the 'can of worms' would explode.

  so the WTS is content to have a membership with a low level of education, rather than to face the tough rigors of intellectual questioning from it's members.

  could humans live forever on earth?.

  since i was born i believed it was my destiny to live forever in a paradise on earth.. now that dream has been put aside, i question the whole concept of an everlasting earth.. of course scientists have long pointed out that the earth does not have an infinite life span.

  and even if it did there are other factors to consider.

  E.L. on earth was the key attraction for me also!!!!

  i was an idealistic (read..dumb) kid when i was young.. became an atheist when i was about 14, then a communist (well, sympathiser), mainly because i thot it the best way to give everyone a better life on earth (tole u i was a dumb kid!!!)...

  got interested in jws, because i saw in paper they were refusing to fight in war (korean) and i did not want to fight and kill people either..

  so i went to meeting ( and stayed ) ---- dumb and dumber!!!!!!!!!

  and absolutely believed that i could help people live forever on earth -- sacraficed everything to do that!!!!

  how can a person be so dumb ???????

  dear brothers and sisters.. is it from 3 years that we jehovah's witnesses, from italy, are preparing the bases of one new economic system.. when the great tribulation will be started, one international recession economic, the condition of poverty for all will be inevitable, also all witnesses around the world.. for this, we, are starting this system capable of give help when succeeding the conditions previewed from revelation 6:6.. in that time, the beast 666, will impress his mark to all habitants of the earth.. for survive, only those that receive his mark, will be possible buy and sell, for eat.. in that case, all loyal jehovah's witnesses, not must receive his mark.. in prevision of these times, we are starting the bases for one electronic coin expendible, in one new economic system capable of give economic freedom, without to be slaves of the project of the beast.. .

  i agree with dungbeetle... it is "slanted" writing. completely subjective!!!

  1.- you can find similar stories in publications by nearly all religions ( well, christian ones anyway!!)

  2. there has been a helluva lot of heavy drinking to the point of alcoholism among jws, even at the top.

  an old timer told me, that when the WTS owned the radio station (the angels flying in mid-air) 2HD in newcastle, nsw, australia (which was a long time ago) - the neighbours were really pissed off with the heavy drinking. - it made newcastle a "sour" place to witness in for decades.
