Yeah, I raised an eyebrow when I heard that she was part of the halftime show. I wonder if the GB will say anything about it...

The org's failed last days predictions were "well meant."
by BoogerMan inw93 6/1 p. 15 par.
6 be sound in mind - the end is close - "of course, well-meaning, faithful christians in the past have sincerely tried to predict when the end would come.".
more than 140 years of a sincere & well-meaning "it's coming soon" from the org, can be swept under the carpet - nothing to see here!.

Miscarriage myths amongst JW
by Anony Mous inso i am having these discussions about children etc and there are witness ties and family history in these discussions.
i got the feeling having this discussion that they seemed to imply somehow it was ‘the parent’s fault’ for having a miscarriage.
whether it was domestic violence, or the mother did something wrong themselves.

I think that this kind of view was based on providing an answer to the concern that a loving god would allow awful things to happen. But JWs already have an explanation for that, because they believe that Jehovah allows the world to go about its business in an imperfect state. Thus, bad things will happen because the world is in a state of independence from god, which Adam and Eve decided for us.
But I do recall some witnesses who would say that people who suffered bad experiences may have somehow 'asked for it.' It's a short-sighted view. If we heard about something like a fire at a kingdom hall, we'd just blame Satan for it. It was his world, after all.

Identifying the Faking and Deceitful Slave
by Sea Breeze injehovah's witness founder, c. t. russell claimed to be the mouthpiece of god (zion's watch tower 1906 jul 15 p.230), later the organization he left behind claimed to be god's mouthpiece.
scripture is adamant that the word of god only applies to jesus christ and no other.
they claim to be the "mouthpiece" of god like jesus, and that the time is near.

Trump 'spiritual advisor' says Jesus never broke immigration laws
by SydBarrett inpaula white said, “yes, jesus did live in egypt for three-and-a-half years.
but he was not an illegal immigrant.
if he had broken the law then he would have been sinful and he would not have been our messiah.” well, there you go.

JW Vaccine mandate: The contrast between voices of reason and confusion
by ukpimo ini was reading an intriguing post on the exjw reddit, a forum i do not with to sign up for, as i'm not interested in the internal politics of reddit.
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/1hwlja8/the_governing_bodys_letter_that_shook_bethel_and/.
another post counteracted this one, driven by the "conspiracy theory" card.

Nearly every medication will affect some people adversely. This can be due to allergic reactions or other existing conditions (including congenital ones). This is why so many drug commercials have a disclaimer with all of the possible negative side effects. Think of how many of these often include death as a "side effect.''
Rushing out a vaccine to deal with a highly-contagious infection that has a relatively high mortality rate increases the likelihood that there will be adverse reactions, including death. The extent of the rollout also leaves us without an answer to the question of what would have happened otherwise. Lots of people died from COVID. Some may have died from the vaccine. The lack of certainty is where conspiracy theories get their momentum.
We had some people here who appeared to have bought into the idea that COVID and the vaccines were part of a conspiracy to drastically reduce the world's population by killing off billions of people. Time has shown that to be... mistaken. It may be decades more before we learn enough to know just how bad COVID was, and how bad the vaccines were/weren't. Until then, enjoy the conspiracy theories.

Is the US a democracy or a republic? Yes
by blondie inhttps://www.npr.org/2022/09/10/1122089076/is-america-a-democracy-or-a-republic-yes-it-is.
throughout our history we have functioned as both.
put another way, we have utilized characteristics of both.

We are a constitutional republic. The USA government was designed as a bottom-to-top structure, where states ran their own affairs and worked together to manage the nation as a whole. The idea was to avoid the risk of too much centralized power. We've been working hard for almost 250 years to undermine that structure, but it has managed to hold up. How much longer remains to be seen.
